So I took in all the information, this was my draft... GE1- Crown GE2 Boston Vis Pro-Crown Vis Anals- Boston Guard-Boston Brass-Crown Mus Anals- Boston Perc-Cavilers.. I used the cap sheet from this past weekends scores from Allentown and came up with a score of 99.2!! This is Great!!!! I am the Valley Scouts!!!

I would be soooo down to do this next year on an app. Please, please, please share when that is a possibility. I love your content and watch all the time. As an aged out member of several corps (marched snare 96/97/98){ Cown 96/97 and Tarheel Sun 98} I have been trying to stay involved with DCI the older I get and I think that an app to play “fantasy drum corps” would benefit anyone who has ever been apart of or is still apart of DCI. Also, this would go over very well with the fan base and this could become a huge thing in the summer when there isn’t a lot of “fantasy” sports leagues going on. You are a genius for figuring this out and I wish you the best in getting this off the ground.
This would be something similar, but what if at the start of the season each person starts at overall a 70 evenly dispersed between all captions, and the draft pics would be your score in that caption increase and decreases based on the groups increase or decrease in that caption. Example say you start idk 15.00 in perc and the group you choose gets a +0.35 in perc score from the start of the week to the end of the week. You would then add that increase to the 15.00 leaving you with a new perc score of 15.35. I think this would work better because it allows you to choose any corp for any caption as some groups might have a bigger jump that week then say a top corp. Overall, still loved this video but thought this change would allow for more love of the smaller groups outside the top 12. :)
A little harder to make into an app but still doable. I like this because as the group gets larger some are going to have to pick like Spirit or Pacific Crest for something were if under your system you picked Crossmen for Music you would be crushing right now.
I’m glad you checked out fantasy marching arts! This DCI draft app looks like a great idea. I could probably try to get a script to scrape dci scores as a personal challenge because it would be really cool to do some cool math with it.
this to me is the toughest part of making an app or even a Google Sheet viable, a way to scrape the recaps, esp since the recaps are just PDFs rather than a xls/tsv/csv. but i'm also a hack programmer and have relatively no experience with API, would be interested to see what you come up with
Awesome stuff!! Those flyin hawaiins might not excel at one thing but their clubhouse worth is something that can be tough to put an actual "value" number on. Absolutely love all these ideas!!
A few predictions for DCI 2023. 1. Blue Devils will score a 99.35. 2. Boston Crusaders will score a 99.15 3. Bluecoats and Crown will both score an 89.something, with Coats 3rd and Crown 4th. 4. Cavies wins percussion, Crown and Boston tie for brass. 5. Cadets 5th, Mandarins 6th, Phantom Regiment 7th, Cavies 8th. 6. Blue Stars 9th, Colts 10th, Troopers 11th, Crossmen 12th. 7. 11 out of the 12 finalists will score higher than a 91. If SCV had not folded, the entire top 12 would have scored higher than 91. 8. A record number of corps will be quietly sad at being so close to making finals, but will outwardly express what a great year it was.
I'm assuming taking the most recent scores once each week would eliminate the factor that some corps jave more shows that others? that at least makes sense in my head
