- In the remote southwest region of Madagascar, the Mikea and Vezo peoples coexist in an area of striking isolation. Inland, the Mikea, legendary hunter-gatherers, are being driven from the forest they have called home for generations. Along the coast, the Vezo, barred from traditional fishing, sustain themselves by cultivating seaweed for NGOs.
Both the Mikea and Vezo are resilient communities, grappling with the same profound question: how to preserve their way of life in a world that imposes its own notions of development upon them?

I see the Mikea and the Vezos in the faces of my Family. We are the Descendants of and Ancestor from Madagascar. He was a sea traveler. Thank you for this Documentary. We love the sea and are very comfortable in the forest.
We entered the realm of the sun where such divine melodies IS the space where the light reposses the ramnant of the ever flowing grace. An entire ocean of peace , of such a beautiful life and an song that never ends . Dear Afrikans ,.you are amazing just the way you are. This is a very important documentary. Natives are the best custodians of nature, not foreign "conservationists".
