Chael has a short memory. He still thinks the last few guys who went five rounds haven't fought since, despite Max having just fought and KZ fighting recently also.
Taco Tacotington you sound mad man. This has happened 1000x, it’s not any different from how it goes in other countries. Britain for example is notorious for biased judging. Perry lost that fight because of the damage he took and that he was on the defensive the majority of the fight. It was a toss up and they gave it to Luque. I bet Perry’s not even as mad as you, so chill the fuck out lmfao
Listen it was a good fight but it was clear to me and even to the commentators that mike perry won but it was close that’s why it was a split decision.
If what you're saying had an influence, then Perry had a bigger chance to win. I expected him to do better, but Luque matched his striking and did more damage. So it makes sense Luque won.
@@djoetma You expected Perry to do better? Must not know a lot about Luque than. Man I thought Luque was going to cleanly outbox Perry, thought he had a big advantage wherever the fight went but I was wrong. Perry blew me away, he's grown so much in his last couple of fights. He looked better last night than he's ever looked before.
@@humanbeing75 I anticipated Perry's growth and he keeps improving himself. Something like a year ago I thought of him as a stupid brawler, but it's as you said, he's proven himself to be quite the striker. Smart and coordinated. Add to that the improvement he keeps making and that beast mentality and you have a fighter that's very formidable in the top echelons of the UFC.
@Josh Winslow not a domination at all, it was for the most part a competitive fight, with max outlanding Dustin in 4 rounds, but Dustin landing the bigger shots. And max would've got a win by dub with 20 secs left in the round he got that d'arce in ( I forget which one) Dustin landed with big power, and hurt max especially in the 1st. Max had his moments as well, hurting Dustin at the end of round 3 with high volume combos. I thought max took enough rounds to win the fight tbh, but I don't call it a robbery because It went the other way, because I see why it did. But it was doubtless a fairly close fight.
@Josh Winslow doing more damage does not equal domination. As I explained, Dustin didn't dominate. The damage and power discrepancy won Dustin the fight in the eyes of the judges, but it also feasibly could've been given to max. Or maybe a draw.
@@JohnJDNB To me, you get points only when you bring a danger to your opponent. When you escape a danger (submission), technically, you prove you are good of course but your opponent is safe so, you don't win any point.
@@GM-qg7zb nah Kelvin dropped Israel right off the bat in the first round. Then he answered back and dropped Kelvin then round 3 Kelvin head kicked him it was back and forth amazing
@@GM-qg7zb I thought it was 2-2 going into the last round which made the fight as epic as it was. It came down to the last round and Israel came out on top (I don't think he dominated the entire fight). I had this fight at 2 rounds for Perry going into the last but they were very close. This was an awsome and closely contested fight but not on the level that Kelvin vs Isreal was.
Kelvin is one of my absolute favorite fighters. But I think he didn't fight to his full potential against Adesanya, and the fight wasn't close enough to be "fight of the year." My reasoning is, Kelvin was just taking a non stop beating at the end of the fight. It wasn't even close. For a fight to be "Fight of The Year" I think it needs to be a close, evenly matched fight. It wasn't evenly matched it was mostly Kelvin just taking damage, aside from landing 2 good shots. Tim Means vs Nikko Price. Now that fight was an example of being evenly matched with a spectacularly violent ending. Or Max vs Dustin Poirier. Or any number of evenly matched, close fights.
I'm not sure why people keep saying Perry got cheated , More than half of Perry's strike's were on the guard and were not on target , that's why Vicente looked barely bruised and perry was mutilated and cut :) , because Vicente's punches were precise on clean , striking is not all about volume and how big the noise is when they land , as long as they didn't do damage , they don't matter as much , Judges were very fair on the split decision , but this was Luque's win , the striking was judged very correctly , and i love Mike Perry , but fair is fair , and personally i'd give him a belt just for surviving a choke with that broken nose after that flying knee , this guy has some fucking warrior spirit. P.S. Perry would have lost 5 rounds for sure , with that nose and that blood loss going into rounds 4 and 5 would have been a done deal. P.P.S. Gastelum vs Adesanya is still fight of the year unless something better arises :)
@@philipvalley1914 Thank you very much , i listen to the Teddy Atlas podcast and i try to judge matches that focus on boxing the way that he does since i find it very logical and fair, i will give you the shorter version , it is effective clean strikes that show damage , i also forgot to add Vicente's hard body shots into the mix :) but you get the idea :P and this is coming from a guy who knows and likes Mike Perry before i found about Luque , but i won't give the win to anyone after i analize the match a few times unless they deserve it.
it was close i personally had perry 1/2 he was mutilated from the knee in the third, they looked about the same damage before that. no robbery either way it went though
@@corrob Absolutely, i am only a bit frustrated because most of the words i hear are ,,Perry got robbed" , instead of appreciating Vicente and what he did :) he stood in front Perry who is one of the most dangerous strikers in his division for 3 rounds and traded blows with him , no backing up no running away just pushing Perry, whom is usually the one beating the shit outta dudes :D and pushing forward , what i found out this match is that both men have better chins and cardio than i previously gave them credit for.
Mike perry looked absolutely fantastic. Actually throwing combinations, more volume. Left hooks lead uppercuts and kicks. A few more years of dedicated skill based training and he could turn into the next Robbie lawler. He hits so hard

Knees to noses should be banned. Noses aint a knees best friend. That was disgusting and likely put Perry out for a long time and will require serious plastic surgery.
Luque in TWO fight of the year contenders this year. Crazy. The one I think will win personally because of how widely publicized it was is probably Adesanya vs Gastelum, which I wouldn't contest at all.
Chael would you rate the Luque vs Perry fight up with the Mauricio Hua vs Dan Henderson (5 rounds) brutal slugfest between two incredible hard hitting durable warriors who would die before conceding victory?
Personally my favorite fights of the year so far are Adesanya vs Gastelum and Holloway vs Poirier 2. Of course it helps that I saw those fight live back to back in Atlanta 😅
That fight was insane. War in round 1!! I could give round 1 to either fighter, it really was just an amazing showing from two beasts. Round two was all Perry, he had the angles and the shots working him with big shots to the body and to the head. Here is the problem. His corners tell him he's 0-1 at the end of the first, so okay, we working from behind but we have this. He then puts on a clinic of aggression in round two, and afterwards on his stool his coaches now tell him he is up 2-0, and just needs to get on his bike to win. WHY DID THEY DO THIS TO HIM??? He was having SO much success with the aggression and as soon as he slowed down and became more defensive he was eating every counter Luque threw at him. He really blew that shit. What a great fight overall though, Perry has some mad heart.
Chael, speaking of insanely savage wars, if you somehow see this, I think it’d be sweet asf if you gave your insight and perspective on 1 of the top 5 all time battles, that being Shogun vs your good friend and training partner Dan Henderson. Like where you were, what you were thinking, how you were feeling, and who you thought/think won that contest.
For a fight as close as that, you can't really call it a robbery. The more you call it a robbery just mean you're not giving Luque his due as a high tier fighter, his striking is so clean and fast and unpredictable and powerful without any wind up. His defense is okay but it's hard to defend against Perry Round 1 - Perry. It was a close round until the last minute when Perry landed a combination of vicious hooks Round 2 - Luque. It was a close round but Luque was landing cleaner and more volume shots. Perry swung a lot but he would either miss or hit Luque's arms too much Round 3 - Luque obviously. He advanced and landed way more, damaged Perry so much more until Perry went for the takedown in the last minute
Chael The crowd was silent and I realized in the Valentina fight, its because of respect, you could tell when someone was shooshing the crowd when someone went loud. Its south america man and uruguay is pretty small and different from all south american countries, they i think took it as a Tennis match where the fighters needed to concentrate and need quieteness. lmao its jusy my perspective
Best fights this year 1. Isreal Adesanya vs. Kelvin Gastelum 2. Max Holloway vs. Dustin Poirier 3. Edson Barboza vs. Justin Gaethje 4. Henry Cejudo vs. Marlon Moraes 5. Vicente luque vs. Mike Perry
Bonuses should grow at the same rate Dana’s salary does, or how the value of the company has increased. So like 2-3million by now, not the same 50k it was when Tito started fighting
I don't care if Mike Perry loses every fight for the rest of his career, I still want to watch him, both in the media and the cage. Savage. And he deserves to be paid like a superstar imo...hope they got 50k for fight of the night!
Kelvin the modafukin Hulk vs Izzy is fight of the year. Loved this fight absolutely.Perry showing improvements and full on blood and guts. Much love to both of them and I hope Perry will not have the Rory Macdonald nose syndrome. Chael,ur the man,one of the most amazing chins in all of combat sports.Love you even more.
Chael is such a front runner it's insane. Cyborg and Spencer is instantly the best female mma fight ever (ridiculous assertion). Luque and Perry potential FOTY? Did we already forget Gastelum v Adesanya? Every weekend Chael watches the fights and forgets every other card that's ever happened.
I absolutely agree my friend! Has to be one of the best fights if the year!!! What a great fight! I really thought Perry won 2 rounds but supppeerrrr close!
We were giving them a lot of praise during the fight but obviously the mics in the arena were trash. After the fight Perry was cheered like hell and Luque was booed.
Mike Perry was very different in this fight. He looked way more technical. He looked like Mayweather in a good way. But that was the problem. He went technical but almost left his savagery. He was technical and savage separately. For example he was throwing slip jab punches like Manny Pacquiao and Mayweather but with less power. But sometimes, he would leave techniques and started throwing haymakers. Also he would sometimes leave the territory by going back. He should have combined his savageness with his newly learnt techniques. All in all, Mike Perry made rethink that is he really just a brawler ?
When Perry flipped the crowd mid-underhook was amazing 😂👏👏

He then puts on a clinic of aggression in round two, and afterwards on his stool his coaches now tell him he is up 2-0, and just needs to get on his bike to win. WHY DID THEY DO THIS TO HIM??? He was having SO much success with the aggression and as soon as he slowed down and became more defensive he was eating every counter Luque threw at him. He really blew that shit.
What a great fight overall though, Perry has some mad heart.
Justin Gaetchje: hold my beer, Chael
Chael is so collected! Kudos!
This fight needs to happen again down the road
That choke was bloody crazy as fuck!
Charlie, since u have watch the fight which round did u think Mike has loss???
Fight of the night? Yes! Fight of the year? Mhhh, I don't know... But I think it's one of those fights, boosting both fighters' value.
For a fight as close as that, you can't really call it a robbery. The more you call it a robbery just mean you're not giving Luque his due as a high tier fighter, his striking is so clean and fast and unpredictable and powerful without any wind up. His defense is okay but it's hard to defend against Perry
Round 1 - Perry. It was a close round until the last minute when Perry landed a combination of vicious hooks
Round 2 - Luque. It was a close round but Luque was landing cleaner and more volume shots. Perry swung a lot but he would either miss or hit Luque's arms too much
Round 3 - Luque obviously. He advanced and landed way more, damaged Perry so much more until Perry went for the takedown in the last minute
Prompt as always Chael. Great video once again.
Can't forget when Perry flipped off the crowd mid-underhooks because they were booing lol
That's a career changing nose break. His ability to take a shot just got left in the ring. They can't fix that.
Great stuff as usual, Chael
Mike Perry, you just made a lifetime fan brother!
So glad he broke it down this way
Big Luque fan. Speaks well, great fights.
Luque is sick dude, first Barbarena, now Perry...both FOTY worthy.
Perry u own my respect ...u r just warrior with great heart and personna
I want to see a rematch. What a fight!
Best fights this year
1. Isreal Adesanya vs. Kelvin Gastelum
2. Max Holloway vs. Dustin Poirier
3. Edson Barboza vs. Justin Gaethje
4. Henry Cejudo vs. Marlon Moraes
5. Vicente luque vs. Mike Perry
I love it when chael do video right after fights
adesanya vs Kelvin is fight of the year, but the year isn't over, but it's still fight of the year
I like Perry and him saving the turtle was TV gold
Bonuses should grow at the same rate Dana’s salary does, or how the value of the company has increased. So like 2-3million by now, not the same 50k it was when Tito started fighting
Chael, the next fight for Perry has to be the Till fight, right? Both coming off losses but man, what a fight that would be. Anyone agree?
I don't care if Mike Perry loses every fight for the rest of his career, I still want to watch him, both in the media and the cage. Savage. And he deserves to be paid like a superstar imo...hope they got 50k for fight of the night!
Its gonna be fun to debate in December whether the Kelvin/Israel fight was better than the whitaker/Israel fight.
I love Mike Perry. UFC needs more entertaining guys like him
Def a great fight! I thought Perry won too! But yeah...both guys stock goes up! Perry nose was smashed tho!
Chael is the fucking boss with these uploads
Vincente Luque and BRYAN BARBARENA is actually fight of the year. Close, but no cigar
Man I remember rory mcdonalds nose looked so bad vs robbie lawler. Mike perry definitely raised the bar 😂
All in all, Mike Perry made rethink that is he really just a brawler ?

no way that’s fight of the year, thanks for the dialogue though chael
