  • Until Apple relents on allowing phone calls to be recorded, the only way to record calls is through third party apps. In the past, I have used TapeACall, which has worked well as a paid app at $29.99/yr. However, their subscription has now increased to $79.99/yr or a monthly fee of $7.99.
Well, here comes another app called "Rev Call Recorder", and easily records calls for free! Now, if you need a transcription of a call, they charge for that service on a per minute basis. Besides that, you can record your calls for free and store them on your iPhone or other device without issue. This is definitely the way to go.
On the iPhone (I use the iPhone 13 Pro) I am able to record calls through the Rev Call Recorder app, or on any inbound & outbound call without using the app. In addition, I cal record my WiFi calls on Google Voice as well, On the iPad (I use the iPad Pro 11 M1 2021 Cellular), I am able to use the app to make outbound WiFi calls and record them.

Thanks for the information. I do have a question...the Rev website says that to record an incoming call you accept the call and then open the rev app and press record. Have you tried this method yet?

Yes. I have tried recording incoming calls. It works. You accept the call same as always. Then, launch the Rev app, call Rev, merge it in and the three-way call is being recorded. I did it just yesterday on an important call for a friend where I was called once the conference call began. It worked successfully.

Does the app rev allow you to review and play back your recording before you decide to make a purchase?

Yes. You can save your recordings. To play them back. The audio is completely free. Where you pay is when you want a transcription.

I've been using our REV call recorder for some time now. What's strange is that on one call from a caller that I have recorded before, as I try to merge it, REV disconnects and goes back to the original call, whereas if I try it with other numbers the merge works fine. Any thoughts as to why this is?

Jumped from Rev then google. Confusing.

I am not sure what part was the confusing part. If you could point that out, I'll see what can be done to make the instruction clear.

I was not aware the region would matter. I suppose privacy laws in Canada preclude such a nap. I wonder if you’d be able to install it if you used the VPN and got Internet access stateside. It’s a thought. I’d have to try it out myself to see if that is even viable. I’m just thinking off the top of my head, but have not tested anything out in this matter.

I have a question.. Why is it asking for a password when I’m trying to make a call, and how/where would I find, or set up one? The only password it asked for was at sign up, and I didn’t enter a numerical one. I tried the verification code they sent me and that didn’t work either. I’ve emailed customer support, but have yet to get a response. I just wondered if this was normal, or is it a technicality only I am experiencing? Thanks for your help if you’re able.

I did not use a login/password as I thought that was just for ordering transcripts. I do not get prompted for a password. Try uninstalling/reinstalling just the app with no login.

(06/06/2024) I just checked on my iPhone 13 Pro App Store. I found it there just as before "Rev Call Recorder".

iPhone sucks better androids, I spent almost 3gb to find solution for an app which maybe 15 mb just to get automatic call recorder app

Admittedly, due to Apple's self-imposed restrictions, this no-brainer task on an android phone is convoluted to mimic on iPhone.

I admit that it would be nice if Apple simply released their death grip on built-in call recording. Short of that, this app continues to be a viable alternative. I record important calls weekly. It’s also free fire call recording where the others are ridiculous in demanding a monthly subscription.
