  • I mostly explain the 12 principles of animation and how to use the principles in Mine Imator to become a better animator! Follow ALL of them and you can easily become a professional!
    To anyone arguing that about the tips making you a "pro", the described principles were set by Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston and have been the standard rules of animation worldwide ever since.
    If you wanna learn more about the 12 principles of animation, see the tutorials made by Alan Becker, who's also the author of Animation vs Animator: • 1. Squash & Stretch - ...
    I hope this was helpful and thank you for watching!!

    Arcs is what i've been trying to do. thinking how u did dem smooth animations.Finally know how to do that

    • @SharpWind
      @SharpWind  6 років тому

      you can "layer down" a LOT of motion this way
      even at individual bodyparts to make the movement smoother
      you can even layer it down to X Y AND Z (making 3 folders)
      if you wanna learn more, check out our "Overlapping Action" tutorial (the 3rd most recently posted i think)

    Quick note: Squash and Stretch looks nice when you use it for something like Slime (the mob when it is moving) or Slime Blocks.

    • @SharpWind
      @SharpWind  4 роки тому

      Actually, its meant to be used on everything as it gains speed, but slimy/bouncy objects are that much more exaggerated
      (The more solid it is, the less its deforming)

    • @thegamingfloodkid9022
      @thegamingfloodkid9022 4 роки тому

      @@SharpWind I know, But it can also be used on stuff related with Slime.

    • @SharpWind
      @SharpWind  4 роки тому

      Then its not squash and stretch, as that refers to deformation according to the speed an object has (an early form of motion blur lol)
      But i see what you mean ;)

    You made a slightly mistake about explaining Straight ahead and Pose to pose. Both are actually ways of animating. Yes, pose to pose means literally pose to pose. You do pose A, and then pose B, and then pose C, and so on. But Straight ahead is not what you said in the video ("Unpredictble and dont have a pattern to follow"). Straight ahead is another method of animating, wich means that you animate your key poses, and right after that you create breakdowns and even in betweens poses. So, its not actually random. Its a straight foward method of animating.

    • @SharpWind
      @SharpWind  5 років тому

      actually, pose to pose is where you determine your key poses and then fill in the gaps (which the 3D software does automatically, that's why i said it was pointless), and the straight ahead is where you animate each frame forwards continuously, and it's hard to keep a solid motion that way and it results in being chunky, hence it's being used to animate particles, fire and such, as they don't have a determined path to follow

    Comparing 2danimation to 3d animation has made me realise that animation has a lot of tweening. What if somebody disabled it, to make it look something more akin to 2d animation and stop-motion.

      Original principles of animation, as they were back in the day described by Ollie Johnston and Frank Thomas consisted of the 12 listed ones.
      Obviously animation is far more complex than 12 tips, but these tips are used as a "beginner survival kit" when it comes to learning. The 12 principles of animatiom are a framework and ground rules upon most modern animation is based on
      I studied animation professionally :)
