Fascinating that Roberto was conducting this Boccanegra about the same time his uncle Claudio was recording 'the' classic version of the opera! Roberto's cast was certainly just as starry.
Siepi sounds really wonderful here & continued his great career for at least 10 more years & 6 years after that made one last complete opera performance in Wien as OROVESO in NORMA. This would be 1994! Apparently he also had one last recital around this time but where & exactly when I have no idea. Perhaps this is only a rumor but if not…?
