    It took me about 3 months to get to From ARR to endwalker after I left on a 7 year hiatus. But the journey was enjoyable. I viewed it similarly to watching my favorite show on Netflix. If you like it, you'll make your way through.

    I feel Blizzard should have marked all the main story quest (like ff14 and dragonflight) for all of wow content and boost the experience gained for player like me that want a story like ff 14. I would play every expansion again if I can get that.

      It would be interesting to go back and decide which quests do that. I just did a few old zones for achivements and it’s kind of chapters but all of them were needed from each chapter and they all had dialogue and many even had voice acting so where you draw that line afte me the fact I agree would be nice but I have no idea how to.

      @@GamingKinda I agree Its a bit easy today. All the Quest icons looking the same in the old content makes its hard to see the story quest over filler. I started a new pally and I'm going to do all the quest in wow lol wish me luck lol.

      I’d recommend the immersion addon. It really helped me treat it more like a story.

    Tbh this is a Difficult Topic. Youre absolute not Wrong at all but i also think not right at all. The 400+ Hours for catching up in FF14 also base of the premise you play the "Narrative way" meaning warching every curscene, reading every Text...etc.
    If you cut all the Narrative Content you can catch up relative quickly. I'm about to playing an Alt on a differend DC and yedterday i finish 6.0 with a playtime under 100 Hrs just skipping every Text in the Game. This is of course not the prefered Way to play the Game but it is a valid Option for ppl who wanna enjoy the MMO Content and dont care for the Story Content.
    Other than That like usual a great Video....im curious if FF14 ever gonna do a similar Method WoW has where you just cut most of the old Expansions. In a recent Interview Yoshi-P said 7.0 will be lvl 100 but after that they have no idea what to do. I mean didnt WoW also had multiple Level squishes and changes trough his Lifespan?

    • @GamingKinda
      @GamingKinda  Рік тому

      As a skipper I was always skipping as it released. In that 100 hour method how much time is actually content at that point. Meaning. Could you estimate what amount of that 100 hours wasn’t talk to x. Travel to y. Now talk to z and head back to x without ever using a combat ability etc. I really enjoyed some of the solo instances in sb for example but when I see pray return in arr I wonder if I ever see ‘gameplay’ as a skipper bc I run a lot of errands. Just wondering. Don’t know for wow the difference since the narrative option is a great deal more convoluted for some of the older expansions.

    After trying to get into quite a few MMOs, FF is the only one I've actually managed to get into and stay with due to the simplicity of the casual game, while still having complexity and stuff you can get better at once you want to start to challenge yourself in endgame.

    New players are forced into Exiles Reach when they first start the game. I still go through it because of its quick and pretty fun compared to just starting normally.
    I wish they made the story more simple for new players in WoW.
    I think WoW has made itself alot more casual/open to accessing the new content for new players.
    Oh you having fun as a bear? My buddy loves druid tanking.
    Chris, you should do some m+! Maybe I have to watch streams.... :P Help you get some pretty epics.

      Did my first m+ for df this week. No drop but the plan would be to start doing some each week now. Was fun. Was a dungeon I hadn’t done so I made one boss nastier than needed and another we wiped once but was fun. 4 strangers and people were polite. Offered help when there was a mechanic being missed. Really enjoyable.

    personally, this is what keeps me from getting into these games. Im so far behind, and i dont want it to be the only game i play for months. So i end up just staying away.
    I really want to play FF14, ESO, and WoW. But i dont think i can keep up while playing all the games i play already. And i really dont want to power level. Cause idk, it's just not as fun as enjoying the sights and taking in everything each game has to offer

    • @GamingKinda
      @GamingKinda  Рік тому +1

      It is a lot. If you chip away at it it gets there eventually but it is an upfront investment if you want to keep playing the games you already play as well.

      @GamingKinda yeah it's really tough. I mean I guess I vouldve been caught up in some of the games by now, had I just started playing instead of thinking about it too much. But I just get so discouraged I guess

    • @GamingKinda
      @GamingKinda  Рік тому +1

      Ya if it’s really a goal the best way to get there is it start. If you chop away at it you really will outpace how fast they add story which post expansion patches is roughly 1 hour a month and every other year an expansion adds 40-60 all at once. I’m just empathetic that it’s a lot to ask and would require you make it something you play at least a little regularly to make headway. It’s an incredible game and being on the other side I know it was worth it but it’s a big mountain of unknown for you so I understand why that’s tough.

      @GamingKinda yeah ur right bro. I'm thinking of either WoW or ESO first. Guess I'll just hop in. Thanks again man. In FF14 I think I have a paladin at like lvl 40. So maybe I should actually continue with this first.
      But it's been YEARS lol

      As long as your having fun along the way you are doing it right. I enjoyed eso back when I played it (stopped bc my friends moved games) and wow is in a great spot to play casually imo.

    The thing about knowledge in Wow being harder, is still just time, but it's not actually playing the game.

    • @GamingKinda
      @GamingKinda  Рік тому

      It’s a lot of wowhead and guides along with playtime imo. And as you have been around lore expansions you reckognize a mission table as exactly that. A rep grind in how those work or what a expansion currency is used for etc. the patterns make it familiar but not until you have a few under your belt.

  • @25xxfrostxx
    @25xxfrostxx Рік тому +4

    Wow is really not a lot of content. Nothing before the current expansion is relevant content. 90% of the dungeons are unpopulated. If you make a new character your entire climb is reaching max level as fast as possible in order to engage in the content that is in current use. A couple off years ago (during BFA) I went back and leveled a paladin from 1 to max level. I leveled the entire way and completed the heritage armor set quests and at no point during the entire process was I ever in a party with another player. I saw less than 20 players in the wild while leveling. I also did no dungeons.
    In 14, almost every piece of content is evergreen. Meaning that every dungeon is still going. Every raid is still active. The majority of the population may be max level, but because of the way it's built, people are still doing the ARR raids and dungeons from 10 years ago as well as the new releases. There is vastly more to do in 14 and never a shortage of other people to do it with.
    In WoW, you'll never find a group to run dungeons like Strat, Scholo, or any expansion dungeons until current. Wow is built so that if you want to play another class, you have to do the entire process again where FF is built where you level every job on one character so there is almost always a leveling process at various tiers of content.

      I literally ran old dungeons in chrome time less than a week ago for hours to help a friend level that just came back to the game and just did sb for my first time and was almost alone in the zombie be the whole way through as two counter points. I do think roulette better leverage old dungeons than chrome or timewalking and I do wish old raids had more use in wow bc some are considered phenomenal content but are lost to time but that’s not to say 14 doesn’t let some content die also, just maybe not quite as much but when an expansion drops day and date wow dragonflight was massively larger than endwalker day and date bc a lot of what we are enjoying now came in the patches. Cc, islands, relics, allliance raids, tribes etc all weren’t in at 6.0 so content pacing is very different in addition to what happens to it as it ages.

    WoW: Maybe 20ish to level to 60 and play the expansion.

  • @heedlessthievery

    everybody always seems to point out that in WoW you have to level each character to play alt classes and act like that's different from having to level each job in ffxiv. almost everything that's on a single character in ffxiv is account bound in wow (aside from gear).

    • @cinjinta
      @cinjinta Рік тому +2

      It's very different from leveling each job. On one character in FF you have all the main story done, teleports, glamors, gear, reputations, content like PotD or HoH unlocked and set up, Bozja and Eureka unlocked, raids unlocked, optional dungeons unlocked. Almost none of that is account bound in wow at all.

    • @heedlessthievery
      @heedlessthievery Рік тому +1

      @Chris Anderson I would still argue leveling is the biggest time commitment in preparing an alt in both games and an alt job in XIV feels only slightly more convenient than an alt toon in wow. Also slower to gear in XIV because wow toons each have their own loot lockouts, so benefits either way. It's just not nearly as much of a difference as it's made out to be.

    • @GamingKinda
      @GamingKinda  Рік тому

      Having capped multiple charachters in wow and having everything leveled in 14 I do agree it a fair bit of time up front but it’s a lot different than each other. For the fact that 14 is the ‘story game’ of the 2 for example you actually cannot go back and play the story again for xp but in wow I had to do the opening scenario in both bfa and sl and I’m able to choose to do as much campaign as a want on alts in whatever order I want. That means narratively my Alts are actually better off in wow which is odd.
      Meanwhile to gear my tanks as a warrior main I need to get a weapon and I’m done. There’s 5 gear sets and if I get a piece from an alliance raid on my tank for a monk like I did this week I can use it on my monk. So inversely ffxiv is actually kinder to let you try endgame instance content on more ways even though people say that’s why you should play wow.
      They are different in how they level and gear up but all of this only matters after you finish leveling your first time really. Leveling every class is a long term goal. Not urgent.

    • @GamingKinda
      @GamingKinda  Рік тому

      Loot lockouts are not a thing until you are talking about being bis or one step below. You are way more than ‘caught up’ with the average player in either game at that point and wanting a alt to have it as well is getting way ahead of the curve. Nice to compare but honestly a different topic.

    Also I know it's a nitpick, but technically WoW's 1.0 WAS deleted :)

    • @GamingKinda
      @GamingKinda  Рік тому

      Not all of it. There were aspects rewritten in cata with heavy losses. Scarlet monastery is one I really miss but many other dungeons stayed. 1.0 is literally gone. All the zones, dungeons, bosses, quests. Gone.

      @@GamingKinda so most of it

    • @GamingKinda
      @GamingKinda  Рік тому

      No. Not most. The vast majority of places you can still go and do in many cases identical things. It’s not even close. 1.0 was 100% deleted. It was also deleted becasue it was unusable. The game went off line for almost a year bc they had to do so much. This is a wildly false way to look at this. Overwriting things in iterative increments like removing obsolete quests. Changing class abilities is part of the fabric of every old mmo. They all do that. 1.0 is one of the biggest failures in mmo history from a franchise that didn’t just scrap the project. It’s why arr is so incredible. They did the impossible. Cata doesnt deserve the credit for what arr did bc it didn’t have to do as much and by the same resoning it did not delete all of 1.0. You can still go do molten core the same way you can still go do firelands raids. It aged. It was not deleted. They have made case by case things to remove like naxx. Not delete a whole freaking game and launch a new game over the top and import charachter data after a year offline.

    but are you truly caught up in WoW? if they know nothing about the past expansions story and lore? :/ or better yet do they have the right addons installed?

    • @GamingKinda
      @GamingKinda  Рік тому

      I play a lot closer to native than ever before. People who prefer addons still have them all installed but my goal on launch was to see if I could go without and it shocked me how close I could get.
      As to your first point I bring it up second becasue o don’t think you need to know all lore of a game to be ‘caught up’ in the community. You just need to be able to join us in conversation. If I invite you to come play a game of pickle all or basketball you don’t need to be good much less perfect in all knowledge of the game. You need to know the rules to show up and take part.
      In an mmo that’s be at max level and join us in the types of content you enjoy and know how to grow when you run into an area you want to improve. You don’t need to be perfect at raiding your first raid night, know all lore the first time you get excited for a patch trailer, win every pvp match or understand a crafting the first item you craft. Just the basics to dive in and know how to get moving along with us.
