David sings every single song with that kind of emotion. He believes what he sings as a man of God. He owns this song. That is actually a theater they are in and all those people are The Who’s who of gospel music. The Gaither Vocal Band is part of it, they, at that time, consisted of Bill Gaither (bass)Guy Penrod (lead) Mark Lowry (baritone) and David Phelps as tenor. Welcome to the world of Mr David Phelps. He will continue to blow you away!!
It never gets old each Christmas watching reactors be introduced to David Phelps. He is one of the best vocalists ever! And yes, anything he sings he sings from his soul.

I am so glad you have discovered the world of David Phelps. He is an amazing singer who sings for the Lord, but has done other music besides Gospel, including Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing", which, at the age of 52, he sounds fantastic! May I suggest the following:. Song for Sinners, He's Alive, End of the Beginning, Five Little Fingers (sings with his two daughters... beautiful harmony), Let Freedom Ring (a live performance done a few months after Sept. 11), Just As I Am (from Stories & Songs, Vol 1), Heaven's Shore, and, well, any of his music! He sings from his heart with an amazing voice. I've seen him live, and met him, many times, and he and his wife are very nice and very humble. Thank you for your beautiful reaction! There's nothing like hearing David Phelps live for sure! In person, it's even another level that you can't imagine. And he is that present and passionate in every song he sings... he is incredible! Hands down, one of the finest tenors in the world. He has an amazing voice. Trained as an Opera singer, is predominantly a Gospel performer.

Seven or eight years ago he bought a farm and moved to rural Tennessee where he does amazing concerts out of his renovated dairy barn. He’s lived on the farm in Tennessee closer to 20 years, maybe longer.
He actually wrote a song for his sister who sang with him who has since passed with cancer called On Heavens Shore for her. It's AMAZING 👏

David is incredible and a gift from God. For another gift, you should check out Mary, Did You Know? as sung by Voctave featuring Mark Lowry. There are lovely versions out there, but no one sings it like Mark. He wrote the lyrics and when he sings it, you can hear his faith in every word.

David Phelps is just nothing short of epic......when he hits the gas...you just have to sit back and watch because it's going to something special
The people behind him are not really a vocal group. The are very wonderful individual singers in the own right. The man in the red shirt and dark jacket right behind David is Mark Lowry who wrote Mary, Did You Know? Check him out with Voctave singing his song. You will get the same reaction as you did this.
First of all let me say that that is Bill gaither's and Friends. Bill Gaither and his wife and brother started up a group back in the '70s doing contemporary gospel. All the people you see there are professional singers from professional groups and that's with the friends come in on Bill Gaither and Friends. You got Jake Hess that was with a movie Lister and JD Sumner that was you know with them and you got the Blackwood Brothers and all these groups from way on back I mean even Howard and Vestal Goodman with the Goodmans. David sings with the Gaither Vocal Band which is Bill gaither's group. He is a master of music and a master vocalist. And you can look up Gaither Vocal Band featuring David Phelps on Google or whatever and it will bring up a whole arraignment of songs that they've done plus he does Opera singing as well. But I just wanted to give you a little rundown on David Phelps and Bill Gaither and Friends the kind of give you an idea of what you sing there and it is live music the band usually behind the singers and of course you seen Anthony burger at the piano which he is deceased now he died on a cruise that they were performing on. During the concert he died at piano. But if you want if you want to hear them like I say just type in David Phelps and not sure he will come up. But I like your reaction and just keep up the good work.

The pianist is Anthony Burger. He and David played off of each other's strengths. They were a remarkable combination. Anthony passed away in 2006. David Phelps is the best Tenor I have heard in years. He was classically trained at Baylor University in Texas. He writes many of his own songs.
Best tenor on the earth. This was around 25 years ago. He’s gotten better. He’s still going strong.

Just some background about the Gaithers and Dsvid Phelps...
Bill and Gloria Gaither are songwriters/singers in the gospel music world. The people you see behind David in this video are past and present powerhouses in the world of gospel music. The Gaithers recorded many of the concerts that they did.
This recording was done in Birmingham, Alabama, at their city opera house about 25/30 years ago. At the time of this video, the Gaither Vocal Band included David Phelps, Guy Penrod, Mark a Bill Gaither. The large group was the Gaither Homecoming Choir.
David is now 53 years old and is a huge figure in the gospel music world. He has just released a new album with some of his best work to date.
You should listen to his version of Whitney Houston's classic, "I Have Nothing." It is hard to believe that David is just reaching his prime vocal years as he enters his 50s.
On a side note, the pianist, Anthony Burger, passed several years ago at the young age of 44 while playing on a Gaither choir cruise. He had been with the Gaithers since he was 16.

They consist of solo performers as well as gospel groups. They travel all over America and the world producing cds/dvds where they sing great music. If you enjoy gospel music or if David Phelps whet your appetite then listen to Guy Penrod, Russ Taff, Lauren Talley, The Gaither Vocal Band, The Booth Brothers, Greater Vision, Jessy Dixon, Jake Hess, George Younce, JD Sumner and the Stamps, Jeff and Sheri Easter, Amy Lambert and many others. This is some of the greatest music ever written. Also please get a hold of Elvis Presley’s gospel catalogue it was the music he loved and it is the music that will blow you away.

Lisa, 1st time viewer. I've watched 15 or 20 reactions and you seem to be more of a person to just give us your true feelings and not just disect every single note. God given freak of nature! There is no Tenor around today that fashions a song like David Phelps. He takes the greatest arrangements available today and elevates them to spiritual and eternal perfection that I believe even God is pleased by!

He is one or two on the PINNACLE OF EXTRAORDINARY HIGH TENOR SINGERS ..... if compared to the Phenomenal voice of AUSTIN BROWN ( Home Free, A Capella Group) one would be hard pressed to pick a favorite ! The group behind was not a vocal 'group', just many small groups all connected to 'Southern Gospel'. Clearly, David's voice is not a typical southern gospel voice. Bill Gaither gave him a place on his vocal band, where he sang for many years. Now he is on his own, with perhaps occasional appearances with Gaither. His Barn Bash is where he presents concerts in addition to his touring. He is indeed blessed by God with a very exceptional talent. He uses it to bring glory to his Creator! Glad you have discovered him.

I have to explain what you just experienced is called the anointing when the Lord Jesus Christ anoints someone to sing to minister in that way, it will touch your soul, and this is what you have experienced, for the Lord Jesus Christ as anointed David Phelps, and this is why it touches the soul of someone and not everyone is anointed, but David Phelps definitely, absolutely is anointed of God Almighty And I believe there is more and better to come Ann-Marie united kingdom. Did you notice at the end of the song when everyone was clapping that David clapped a few times too and stopped? I believe that he was clapping for God that gave him that unbelievable voice. exactly WHO David was singing for and to! The choir was also singing to our Lord &
Savior. And you were correct ~ Jesus WAS indeed IN that room > inside his people !
You see = they understand that Jesus went to the cross to pay for the sins that
they've committed = and they repented of their sins ~ hating & abandoning the sins
and giving themselves completely to God = and that for all eternity! That's the bottom
line = and that relationship with God is available to any who pray for forgiveness and
accept the payment that Jesus bought for them on the cross with His precious blood ! amen.

I think this performance was actually done like about 20 years ago right?.. many of the people behind him in that assembled choir are gospel music legends and have since passed.. George Younce is right behind him and was The Cathedrals bass since its founding back in the 50’s I think.. he passed I think not long after this..others as well..
You just heard a man of God who's dedicating his life singing about into the Lord Jesus Christ! You have heard what the whole world should be singing everyday to the Lord Jesus Christ! You have heard a glimpse of what born again Christians worldwide will be seen up in heaven for all eternity to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; because we have put our faith in trust in Jesus Christ who has delivered us from our sins because we called on him in faith to save us from our sins and become our only Lord and Savior of our lives! You have heard a man sing about the only one who died on the cross for all of mankind, past present and future who need to be saved. Only his blood cleanses our sin and washes us white as snow! I have my salvation because I knew I was a sinner who needed a savior. Do you know? Will you be in eternity with the Lord Jesus Christ? Jesus wants you there! But you got to accept his free gift of salvation. The Lord Jesus did all the work on the cross, we just got accept what he did for us as he took our plac.✝️👑💖
