15 Mistakes That Shorten the Life of Your Phone

- How to charge the battery correctly? Why do the phone batteries decrease so quickly? We have 15 amazing tips that will make your smartphone live a longer life!
Nowadays one can hardly imagine life without a cell phone. And it happens quite often that our gadgets start to act up just half a year after we bought them. It is frustrating, but in most cases, we ourselves are to blame! Let’s face it - we don’t always handle our devices properly.

SUMMARY
- To increase your gadget’s battery life, you should recharge it more often. The best option is to do it each time the battery power indicator drops to 10-20%. This will increase the number of discharge cycles up to 1000-1100 cycles.
- An inbuilt controller stops the battery from taking more current than necessary, so there is absolutely no risk of overcharging the battery and destroying it.
- There have been situations when a person was using a non-native charger, and it caused a fire in the house! And another terrible thing that can happen if you use non-native chargers and cables is getting an electric shock.
- We recommend you to avoid using chargers that claim to charge your battery fully in less than an hour.
- If your smartphone has a bulky protective case, it might cause the device and its battery to overheat during a lengthy recharging session.
- It is recommended to discharge your phone’s battery every three months to 0% and then immediately charge it to 100% to get rid of the extremes of full charge/discharge.
- A high temperature is the worst thing you can imagine for lithium-ion batteries: they totally can’t stand overheating.
- Carry the phone in an inner pocket of your coat or an outer pocket but encased in a protective covering. Low temperatures are harmful to the battery because it needs more power to keep itself warm enough to function.
- Try to lower the brightness of your screen at least by 30-40%.
- At the approach of a thunderstorm, never charge your phone. Actually, the same goes for all the electrical appliances you have.
- To wipe the screen, use lint-free wipers and whatever you do, never use window cleaning liquids. They contain ammonia which can damage the screen irrevocably.
- If you drop your cell phone into a pool or a sink, the first thing you should do after you get it out is turn it off and remove the battery (if it’s possible, of course).
- Don’t put your cell phone on the dashboard when driving. Constant moving and bumping can cause a lot of damage.
- Read user reviews before you hit the update button. The problem with such updates is that it’s either very hard or impossible to go back to the previous version of the software.
- Even if you have a lot of free space on your hard drive, it’s better to use cloud storage anyway. This way your phone won’t be clogged with too much data so that it will perform much better.

Android also while you are partly true that updates may cause 🔋 drain they also help keep your phone secure in fact google wants to push android manufacturers to keep security updates no more than 90 days out of date and while you might not care about your own phone security keep in mind that your compromised phone/identity can be used to catch others off guard consider the worst case scenario having ransomware mailed from your phone to a boss or colleague while I never heard it happen should not be too hard to do when they have access to your mail, contacts and facebook/linkedin while a unlikely scenario I'd say why not minimise the risks by keeping up to date :p

Just a question but why now tho?
hi, if you may please clarify this for me because i didnt get the first part .. do you mean charge you phone more often or wait for the battery to go below 20% and then start full charge ?
Most phones have battery management systems.... So you kinda can't really over charge them. So that tip is a hair off.
Dont spoil!
BRIGHT SIDE most of the battery tips damages it more 🤦🏻♀️
1. Charge you phone when it reaches 10-20 percent.
2. Keep your phone charged between 40-80 percent.
???
Charge your phone when it drops at least 10 percent
Keep it between 50-60%
Yea what?
"..so there is *absolutely no risk* of overcharging the battery and destroying it."
"however this doesn't mean that you can constantly keep the phone charging"
???
You should start charging your phone when it reaches 10-20%
Then remove your charger when it reaches 40-80%
If you don’t update when update is available, the phone starts acting goofy so you don’t have a choice.
Updates don't have no effect
Auto update can be switched off and Software Updates can be done Manually(I do Manual Updates each time I get an update notification and the updates means my Smartphone runsxnice and smoothly)

Thats why I bought an ipad to watch my fave kdrama/cdrama while my iphone os charging. 😆
I didn't learn anything from this video. The information presented literally contradicts itself. For example, it says to keep your phone between 40-80% but it also recommends waiting until your phone is at 10% to charge it.
Then it's said that you can leave your phone charging overnight because devices have built in protections to stop the phone from drawing more current than it needs...but then continues by implying it's bad for the battery to leave your phone charging for too long.
I could go on... I feel like this video must be a joke.
It is a joke you should never discharge your battery until 0%. I learned that the hard way with my previous battery then had to replace it.
That's what is said , when your mind isn't working! The video says don't go below 10% and charge it between (40-80%) i.e. from 10 to min 40 and max 80
Get it now ? Mr silly
The lesser you can avoid your battery to reach its boundaries the better. So 40-80 is better then 10%. But it is very difficult to survive in this world by keeping it to 40-80% isn't it?
Yeah, I wish this channel was a joke.
Another trick I have found to extend the life of your phone is to never charge the phone while it is ON... Charging a phone while it is ON causes it to heat up pretty quick. It is even WORSE if you are playing games or doing heavy processing with your phone. The phone heats up to very hot levels and heat causes expansion and contraction of silicon cells within the chipsets in the device. If you have ever overclocked a GPU on a PC and went too far you will know what I am talking about. The expansion/contraction caused by the heat causes the information stream to be "fragmented" which, in a GPU's case, will cause "artifacts" on the display device you are using. Artifacts can be things like clear triangles, page tearing or seeing through objects that should be displayed solid...
I also always make sure to shut my phone COMPLETELY off for at the bare minimum 3 hours everyday(which is when I charge). Doing this has kept ALL my phones, even going back to 2010, extremely snappy like the first day they were bought. Also, Lithium Ion batteries need time for the cells to "rest" to keep functioning reliably. People who run their phones all day everyday and never let them rest completely off have the WORST performing phones I have ever tested! They are so misinformed that they believe it is the phone's fault and they blame the device which leads to buying a new phone... 😩😐
People are blown away when I show them my Galaxy S5 I use as a backup phone while my Note 9 is charging. The S5 functions like the day it was first purchased because I know how to take care of my devices...
Give...Your...Phones...DOWN TIME people! They are not going to pack up and leave you like a cheating girlfriend!
Thanks bruh
Thank you for your usefull comme t ..i just have a question...i have a new phone and i want to really take care of its battery..i have 2 question : 1 should i still use it untill it reaches 15÷ or should i stay higher or lower than 15% and shoul i charge to 100 or lower ??
2 secondly i have a samsung but cant use it charger cz i dont have there right pluging for the charger so i have an original shaomi charger that is 25 wat indentical to the capacity that my phone can support ..do you think charging with a different charger even tho it has the same watt capacity would affect my battery's phone or is it ojay to charge with this different charger that i have..thanks again and hope you answer
@@md3869 First of all, I would let the battery drop to about 7-10% capacity before charging. Secondly, you ALWAYS want to use the charger that came with your phone. Not only does the wattage need to match but the amperage needs to match. For example... My Note 9 has a 9v @1.67amp output so if I were to get a charger that was say 9v @1.2amps then what would happen is the phone would try to pull 470 milliamps more than the charger can handle which will cause the charger to get hot and catch fire. I can't tell you how many house fires have happened either from "cheap" chargers or the "wrong phone" chargers. ALWAYS make sure to use the original manufacturers power supply charger that came with your phone cuz it's always "fine" until it "ISN'T" and THEN it's just too late...
@@lightisgreaterthandarkness mann you just dont know how mush i apreciate your comment bro it was really helpfull i was afraid of using a different charger cz you know .. a new phone i defenetally dont want to ruin and now thanks to you i know i made the right choice thank you man..i just have a weird question ..i hope you know anything about it ..i would like some tips to save my battery life but actually thats secondary..my main request if you please...my phone was still downloading the system update file but didnt install it and run it yet and i stopped the download in setting at the last minutes so basically 90 % of the system update package was already downloaded but as said hasent been applied yet so the question how can i delete this uncomplete package because i dont want to update my system and i want to delete this useless unfinished file to free up space where can i find it in files to delete it please help and thank you again brother

Charge your phone when battery drops to 20 percent the limit is 3 times the limit for me never charge battery fully to 100 percent and never drop battery to 0 percent

Mistake number 16: Watching this video.
hahahah
The thing clogging phones isn't "data", it is the plethora of junk apps that phone manufacturers load up and make "non-removable". A better policy would be to design such apps to have a "shelf-life",If after which they could be removed. If I have used a phone for a year, and not used the app, figure that I either don't need the capacity the app offers, or have a different app that I prefer to use the same function.

thanks for this tips I bought a new iPhone se yesterday and by this tip I can keep my iPhone battery last long
Ok buy an Iphone and keep it in the box! Doing this you will make your phone last years to come😂
It will still drain the battery even if the phone is turned off and in the box.
@@91Jawad Can I ask why and how? I’m very curious 🥺
Think of it like this, if one were to sit all day on a chair doing nothing at all, certain amount of energy from your body would be lost, right? Similarly, the shelf life of phones will drop if bought after a year or 2. The battery won’t hold its capacity for long.
Lithium-ion batteries are designed to be used. So, keeping them in the box for years would only start degrading its life more after a certain time.
Very informative bro thanks

The last One was regarding Cloud Storage.Never really used it myself. So. That makes 2 of us. Not sure what it really does?
Glad that you were still able to comment while your phone was dead.
Softwere updates actually make your phone faster and better, not slow it down.
usually older devices that still receive updates like my galaxy note 4.It's on the latest version marshmallow and the battery is terrible and if you look at the stats from kitkat they are way better.
Samsung deliberately destroyed the batteries by software upgrades
*cough* iPhones *cough*
I do it
yeah i agree a little bit from you.......it does slows down the handset after the phone has been updated.....that lasts for1 to 3 days, because the software takes time to get full control of handset and retrives the lost data encountered during the update.
Norma on android that’s true but with iOS the more updates the slower your phone gets that’s why I stopped updating both my iPhones completely over a year ago.
Gave a like because of the summary! Pls keep it up
Long-term storage of lithium batteries should be at 40-60% capacity. I have one that was stored for five years, and it retained 100% of it's capacity.

What if you can't keep it between 50%-80% because you want to be able to use the full capacity? Maybe because you are not within reach of a charger or a socket or something..? So does it really make such a huge difference if you keep it maybe between 10 or 15% to 90% or 100%? You can't always only get along with 30% or so..

It's help me to update software or not. Now my all confusion is clear. Thank you so much
If it's alright, I'd like to give a counter point to number 2. Many if not most updates patch security vulnerabilities. I personally prioritize security over life span.

I have 1 more tip don't use live wallpaper
Why
impressed , no bs, facts true . job well done .
Thank you... it's very useful...
Actually, it's been proven and both Apple and Samsung have admitted that they both do purposefully try to slow down older models through software updates to get customers to buy newer products. Although Apple does do it way more often then Samsung does by a long shot.
Avoid high tempreture and low tempreture, then what is the ideal temperature? I LIVE IN THE EQUATOR SO WHAT SHOULD I DO? On my air-condition to 20°C? (68°F)
Little can you do, the phone need (any) cool exterior to remove internal heat, but how fast it remove internal heat depend on manufacturer, the inside can be very hot: 60-90 degree Celsius than outside. If the WHOLE phone is hot then you must turn it off immediately! because that is sign that it couldn't cool down no matter what the outside temperature is.
Thank you 👍
