I have an 84 also, the previous owner had already replaced the cross-fire injection with 4 barrel carb. All the smog system is gone as well. Look forward to more 84 C4 videos! New sub
For the catalytic runners on the exhaust manifolds... just cut and cap the off at the end of the pipe after they all converge. Saves you from created 4 holes on each manifold that need welded.
Oh yea, this vette is my new daily driver! I'm definitely liking this car, the crossfire engine is pretty good....People complain about the CFI for no reason? it's a good design and reliable along with being less complicated vs the TPI.
You did a nice and neat job with smog pump. In case you wanna remove the AC too like i did ( total weight smog pump and AC system was almost 60lbs) the belt is 70.5”. I wish i could have removed the 2 pipes on the side of the engine too, but just didn’t have the tools and time, so i kept them as is.
I'm going to keep the AC....it works great and needed in the summer here in Connecticut. The tubes were a pain but, came out easy enough, an inexpensive dremel kit will cut those right off.
I’m in the process of doing the same thing to an ’87. My question is about the vacuum lines. Since the A/C, Air Pump and associated relays, switches etc. have been removed, where do the vacuum lines go? I know the fuel pressure regulator, brake booster and cruise control need vacuum, but are there other items that need it also to run the car properly? AND, what is used as a source for those lines? Brake booster and cruise control come from the rear of the intake, I believe. The Pressure regulator comes from the small nipple on the lower passenger side of the intake. What else am I missing?
Hi, mine is a 84, totally different with a simple ecm...your going to have to Google what to do to your 87 Vette, there is a way to do it but, Idk offhand. The Corvette forums have detailed instructions. Good luck
Best video on C4 Corvette I have seen all day nice air pump delete I think I will do the same I refuse paying the high-dollar price they want for the bracket
Great vid. Been thinking about it. Had it all off when I did the timing chain but put it back on. I see an engine light at the very end. Maybe you could advise what code it's tossing there.

Keep up the good work. I have done the same thing on my 84’. It’s been a good ride so far.

The light was for the open door....."door ajar". no engine code.
@@daredevil7442AUTOMOTIVE Thats good! No surprises.
@@1984C4Corvette_DIY_Garage I subscibed to your channel...you have good info!!
@@daredevil7442AUTOMOTIVE Thanks. Likewise. Subbed to you as well, great videos, very helpful.
i want to be able to see what and how all is rerouted so i can do the same if it wont give me codes for doing it.
Is an 84 vett smog exempt
Did you notice any better running after doing this ?
Yes, car ran so much smoother. Well worth it.
Can't you just leave everything intact and put on a smaller belt just to bypass the smog pump?
That could probably be done but, I wanted it all gone. Goggle it?
Are 84 versions smog expt in Cali
Smog check is required for '76 onwards.
Nice job
Damn man the video is making me dizzy, study the camera a bit.
It would be a true help if you actually SHOWED how you did the work... Useless.
