I have a VW Passat comfort line. 1st: My reverse camera is very clear even compared to the accord which is my best friend have! And the massage I like it and need it when am tired and stuck in traffic. True story. 2nd: the back seats is comfortable , unless if they are fat with full respect to them. 3rd: The driving, I love to drive it daily with full confidence, very close to the BMW. Easy to take off in any situation. +I don't need sun shades because I tinted the car with best quality sun block quality! 4th: I can talk about my experience with it more and more BUT GO AND TEST DRIVE The PASSAT By YOU'R SELF, Highly Recommend.
@@lansiman been using it for the past 3 yrs, no issues so far with the dsg from this dry clutch....its changes gear faster than my other vw equipped wt the wet 6 dsg...love this passat
I had this car for 5 yrs already, its still great...bought a mk8 gti recently. No difference on the gearbox compared to my passat 7 spd dry dsg in term of smoothnest & fast shifting
Fantastic car, After owning it, 2018 highline model given immense satisfaction & pleasure driving. The pick up is awesome, never felt driving 2lit 2100kg Tdi. Diesel engine is also not noisy. Pls touch and feel the car, pictures and videos doesn't give real feelings.
I tried passat dry dsg and wet dsg. Conclusion is dry dsg is faster and better. Dsg problem is overblown as it has been pretty reliable since 2015. So after comparing with honda civic FE, i just bought a seldom used 2019 passat comfort line. Cheers. Anyway with recon and oem parts, replacing mechatronic has dropped to an affordable Rm 3000+, a small price to pay for the fun. Cheers.
@Galaxymetta Hello, may I know what’s your experience with servicing your Passat? Is the aftersales service on point? Been looking to get the 1.8 Comfortline 2017-18 model. Thanks
If this adds on the Lane Keep Assist, AEB, adds on the 220 PS Engine and the Active Info Display it would crush the competition. Overall good job VW also a nice review from you Hafriz.
Of course VW Passat Comfortline Plus. The gearbox is much better than the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry CVT gearbox, VW Passat Comfortline Plus gets Adaptive LED Headlights and powerboot. and the alloy wheels is awesome. Between Mazda 6 2018 is launching.. Maybe Mazda 6 better?
Hi Paul Tan. Have you done a review of Car Manufacturer Service Quality in Malaysia? Let me perhaps get the ball rolling. #VolkswagenMalaysia is cr*p! Would be nice to know who's the best... would help with a car replacement decision... Thx.
I tell u if you’re on a myvi or some toyotas looks for the first taste of German trap , try this car you’ll fall in trap forever because it’s too fun to drive
Proton would have the best build quality if it was part of the VW empire. Just look at how they transformed the Czech Skoda and the Spanish Seat which were dying brands until VW bought them over.
And the dry setup means the gearbox is passively-cooled by air. In a more powerful dual-clutch setup (high torque application), an oil cooling system is attached to ventilate the extra heat generated by intense frictional torque. This hi-power setup is called wet dual-clutch gearbox. Usually available in more powerful VW cars like the VW Golf GTI.
Unfortunately, the dual-clutch system is more complicated than a torque converter automatic so they tend to be less reliable and more expensive to maintain/repair. There's been an issue with dry dual-clutch gearbox like VW's dry DSG. They dont last long in hot weather and frequent traffic jams. The wet DSG still prone to such issue but it is more durable than the dry DSG since wet DSG has its own active cooling system. VW claimed the issue had been solved with revisions made to the system, improved parts durability and retuned mechatronics. Lately, less complaints has been brought up so I guess it is solved. Better yet, VW offers 5 years warranty unlimited mileage on the gearbox so rest assured.
I guess vw have managed to improve the reliability of the dry clutch...no issues with it for the past 3 years of usage. My prev ducati 916 superbike had a dry clutch set up too ...lightning fast shifting & zero power loss is the advantage of a dry clutch system...fc good for this passat...averaging 6-7l/100km so far
why Malaysian is obsess about plastic? hardlah, soft lah... like in every review mesti ada mention. every cars has it lah. hard plastic doesn't mean it is bad / cheap plastic right?
That's true, but there is a difference between hard plastics and cheap plastics. And yes, soft touch materials is not the be all and end all measure of perceived build quality.
Paul Tan's Automotive News thanks for the reply. Just my observation when Malaysians do cars review, we always talk about how much we love the soft plastic. Btw, I love all Paultan’s review videos... very well put together!
Actually Mr Fairozee, many of foreign automotive reviewers do mention about the quality of the plastics & the incorporation of soft touch materials. It is one of the criteria to see when comparing the interior finishes.

I tested the Trendline. The suspension is really superb. Soft on ride and firm in corners. Amazing tuning.
until the dsg breaks and vw say it's not their problem

what does dry dual clutch means? Sorry, still a newbie in the automotive world..
well, it simply mean it's gearbox have 2 clutches (albeit computer controlled) so that the next gear will always already be on standby during shifts.
And the dry setup means the gearbox is passively-cooled by air. In a more powerful dual-clutch setup (high torque application), an oil cooling system is attached to ventilate the extra heat generated by intense frictional torque.
