Totally forgot the car is manufactured in the same country as the autobahn 😂, was doing +160mph on an empty highway and was blown how well the car handles all around at those speeds. ❤
Crunching the numbers, the CS "costs" $7700 per second of lap time improvement (price diff / time diff). I'm betting the Donut gang could improve the base for less than that. I'm guessing just some Cup 2s on that base would knock off 2-3 seconds.
But the resale on one of those CS hasn't depreciated one bit. They still go for MSRP on the used market. At the end of the day, you're driving a CS with fully forged crank, rods, and pistons and a tune away from 650WHP that would run with the likes of the 911 Turbo S, C8 Z06s, Astons, AMG GTs etc. Basic JB4 tunes for $799 on the M Competition already makes 626WHP on E30, 660WHP on E50. The subframe on the M cars are solidly bolted, there's bigger twin intercoolers, oil coolers, diff cooler, trans cooler, beefier ZF transmission that's known to handle 1000hp/tq, switchable AWD, chassis spot welds, carbon ceramic breaks, beefier sway bars, better adjustable dampers, the entire suspension arm setup is all cast aluminum and not steel or stamped steel, stronger engine mounts, stronger bushings, carbon fiber hood and roof, and wider tracks. The front and rear fenders are wider than the normal 3 series. You get a lot more than you think. The CS can handle more laps without wearing parts off. If you were to add whatever you can to the 330, it'll probable cost $100,000 with labor, and it's still faster and is not a forged S58 engine. Randy Pobst did a 1m24 in an old F80 M4 S55 engine with 120 hp less than the M3CS. That's about the same time Donut just did. Put that into consideration. 2024 M3 CS (Car and Driver) 60 mph: 2.7 sec 100 mph: 6.4 sec 1/4-Mile: 10.7 sec @ 129 mph 130 mph: 11.0 sec 150 mph: 16.1 sec 170 mph: 23.7 sec

As an E90 owner.. it kinda shocks me how little the 3 series has changed since my generation of car came out. Its like they found the winning recipie and just stuck with it ha, even almost 20 years after the debut of the E9X generation.. fantastic cars i absolutely love em.
pre facelift E91 here, platinum bronze over beige. I was looking to buy a Japanese offering but found them overpriced, less cared for and mostly ugly. IMO the E91could be the best looking wagons ever made if we don't count anything with four rings on the grill. find a E9X with a good history and that presents well you get a hell of a lot of car for the dollar. I had my tech look over mine on location before purchase.

Never really was attracted to BMWs until I recently bought a 2021 3 series touring xdrive with the 190hp diesel and the 8 speed ZF auto and damn! it is an excellent car (and I've driven many cars). Plus it still got fantastic knobs and buttons (pre-facelift, same platform). I'm genuinelly happy with it. Great family car. For the LOLz, I simply jump into my Copper S (also pre-facelift, not de-tuned, 192hp)... returning home with a smile is unavoidable.
I have a 2020 330i in Portemao Blue, it has the M-sport package and the pre-interior refresh so i have the AC control separate. The suspension combined with the 19" wheels gives it a more bumpy and stiff ride. It was pretty well optioned ngl, loving it so far
I leased the same year, spec, color. Totally agree on it being a nice upgrade over this base model. I think a 2020 m340i would probably be the best in between.
Not gonna lie would love to see more videos like this comparing "poverty" spec cars to top spec and see if its actually worth it. Many "poverty" spec cars are surprisingly good or even better in some aspects than top spec :)
order a gasket kit and replace everything, even if it’s not currently leaking. start with oil filter housing because if that’s leaking bad it’ll make ur belt slip off and get sucked into the oil pan and possibly (most likely) clog the pick up tube
Got a 2014 535d with only 50k miles a few months back as my first "nice" car. This thing must've been the previous owners baby. Was basically brand new off the lot from top to bottom. And i get that diesel mpg. Shame that diesels bimmers dont sell here in the USA

Gotta meet in the middle. Always wanted to own an m2 but after owning an m235i, I absolutely loved it. Really quick and fun, but also very practical for daily driving. Definitely going for an m240i next instead.
A track test where the 330i is given at least PS4s tires would be cool, if those are “all” season then they really aren’t designed for the track. Then we could see the difference power, suspension, AWD make as tires are easy to change but those other things aren’t

Find it odd that the 330i is the lowest 3 series in the US. That’s a fairly fast car. In Europe you can get like the 318i which has about 140hp not the 330i’s 255hp
This video was fun but I work as a BMW Technician and Comparing a g20 and a g80 is not a fair comparison. NONE of the parts between those cars are interchangeable. If you wanted a true base model VS. top model. You either need to compare a 330i to an M340. Or a base M3 to the M3CS.
I was there for the first year of owning one but now I'm kind of considering some little tweaks an mods - maybe a better air intake and exhaust to begin with...

you'd be surprised to find out the bigger models are in the same ball park, when you really think about it 40k for a car like a BMW isnt terrible when Hondas and Nissans are rolling off the lot at 30s. an extra 10k and youre driving German, a highway machine, vs an economy commuter. totally different ball game, you can find used BMW's for pretty decent prices, just depends on the model really. solid reliable cars just have to know what youre buying. cheapest way to own a BMW is a lease, and then buy it out

I love my Lexus is220d 2010 model. It only has 177hp, but it’s rear wheel drive and manual. And that turbo gives some good torque! And 2.2L V6 sounds great! 330i The pre facelift has all the buttons and knobs in idrive7. This is idrive8 and has the two huge screens. Also the fuel mileage on the 3 series isnt okay, its insanely good. Owners are getting around 48 to 52 MPG on the freeway with eco pro mode. It disconnects the drivetrain and freewheels while idling the engine. In sport mode the fuel mileage is okay.
Im often asking myself when a modified car looks good. And it only looks good if it is more or less what the manufacturer was doing, and needs to be consistent with older models. Looking at the CS it does not look stock, it looks like someone with no taste painted the grille red and added the ugliest afermarket bodykit he could find. I guess if you would ask 100 non car people to tell if its stock or modified, everyone would say its a riced out car.
Have a 23 M4 with 6 speed, have knobs for stuff and no carbon buckets -- Absolutely optimum. Nephew has 330ie and great, great daily for family. I am sold on BMW (and never thought I would write that). Thanks DONUT for confirmation that I didn't get the unusual.
Same thing with a lot of the trucks we have nowadays. They look like a 12-year-old's idea of what a tonka truck should look like. They're hideous and won't age very well.
Yet it has a lot of sales and it has a big community. we're 4 years into this car and we've seen what reception was... The F80 M3 had 34,000 units sold in its almost 6-year-long production run. The g80 m3 only 3 years in has had 25,000. What does that tell you? That it's doing poorly?

Oh, and another one you could maybe explain to folks (I did to my kids) ... Tires and the sidewalls. Why in a performance car, there is always a low profile tire. With my kids I even pushed down on tires (no rim) to show how stiff (or not) a tire is. Cuz when Nolin was running laps in the base model, I was wondering how much sidewall fold was happening with the taller sidewall. Imagine what a cheap ass tire would be like! Bet that's how some folks crash ... Thinking they are a "driver" and go into a corner too hot and the sidewall folds right off the rim.

Totally forgot the car is manufactured in the same country as the autobahn 😂, was doing +160mph on an empty highway and was blown how well the car handles all around at those speeds. ❤
Love this format of comparison between models of cars. More please!
Nolan and Justin are just hilarious together, love the conversational style!
Crunching the numbers, the CS "costs" $7700 per second of lap time improvement (price diff / time diff). I'm betting the Donut gang could improve the base for less than that. I'm guessing just some Cup 2s on that base would knock off 2-3 seconds.
LSD + tyres will bring that time right down.
2024 M3 CS (Car and Driver)
60 mph: 2.7 sec
100 mph: 6.4 sec
1/4-Mile: 10.7 sec @ 129 mph
130 mph: 11.0 sec
150 mph: 16.1 sec
170 mph: 23.7 sec
yes but at a certain point it makes more sense to buy the more expensive car then dump money into a cheap one. Dont forget mods affect reliability and resale value negatively
@@DroneStrike1776 people dont really understand the difference between stock cars, M cars, and competition cars. totally different ball game, its like buying a regular street car vs a race car essentially. from the ground up its better engineered. boutta trade my X3 in for a comp version, maintenance bills gonna kill me lol
No point in tuning for more hp when it will barely affect lap times. And a those cc brakes cost a fortune and don't last at all at track pace. Plus being 4000 lbs with driver, it's a show car than can do some go from time to time. @DroneStrike1776

As an E90 owner.. it kinda shocks me how little the 3 series has changed since my generation of car came out. Its like they found the winning recipie and just stuck with it ha, even almost 20 years after the debut of the E9X generation.. fantastic cars i absolutely love em.
E9X still has the best steering feel of any generation
Got my 2012 E90 320D in December, and man what a drive she is.
pre facelift E91 here, platinum bronze over beige.

The wagon doesn’t get the love and recognition it deserves. I’d buy one in a heartbeat if I could.
Definitely make this a series! Would love to see other makes and models such as base corolla vs Gr, base civic vs type R, etc.!
I have a 2020 330i in Portemao Blue, it has the M-sport package and the pre-interior refresh so i have the AC control separate. The suspension combined with the 19" wheels gives it a more bumpy and stiff ride. It was pretty well optioned ngl, loving it so far
44k is cheaper than i thought ngl, the way mine was optioned when new came out to 57k
*Portimão, which is a city in Portugal with a Race Track :D
I leased the same year, spec, color. Totally agree on it being a nice upgrade over this base model. I think a 2020 m340i would probably be the best in between.
Just bought a 2013 335i last weekend and I love it.

Not gonna lie would love to see more videos like this comparing "poverty" spec cars to top spec and see if its actually worth it. Many "poverty" spec cars are surprisingly good or even better in some aspects than top spec :)
I actually loved seeing what a stripper 330i a actually comes with. It is so rare to see a base model with little to know options being tested.
225 hp is alright as a base model? holy moly. As a German i dont know anybody with a Car that fast. the golden standard here is 120-150 hp
Just bought a 2013 335i last weekend and I love it
Great purchase!!! First thing I'd recommend is change the electric water pump.
@@cedrick305nah every gasket starting with oil filter housing

That's two people in the comments who bought a 2013 335i last weekend. Popular car, I guess.

rare and expensive. I found one example for sale in a several month timeframe when i was last car shopping. Advert was up for less than a day.
We did have diesel BMWs here. Sales stopped for good because of the emissions scandal involving Volkswagen, BMW didn't want to be looked upon as a potential defendant. It blows, but what can we do...

I have a base model 330i and love it. I bought it CPO and the only options specced are the convenience package and 19 in wheels. It's plenty fast for freeway driving, handles well, is comfortable, fuel efficient, and reliable. Looks great too. I don't see a need to buy something more expensive.
Same , 300+ horsepower only cost $800-$1300 in upgrades, and its plenty of car for plenty cheap in comparison
Find it odd that the 330i is the lowest 3 series in the US. That’s a fairly fast car. In Europe you can get like the 318i which has about 140hp not the 330i’s 255hp
I love my used 530e i just got. Already put a stage 2 tune and much more fun now.
As an M340i owner, and coming from an E46 M3, the comfort to cost ratio is right there. Hammer down, the M340i still scares me.
I was there for the first year of owning one but now I'm kind of considering some little tweaks an mods - maybe a better air intake and exhaust to begin with...
The alarm at the start of the Draft Kings ad made me brace for a power surge coming from the Rebel Flagship.
i actually recently went to cali and rented the 330 the rental place i got it from had 16 miles and i took it out in the palm desert canyons it was fun.

I am surprised the base price is "only" 44k for a BMW. Given the crazy car prices I see.
If you look at actual dealers, you won't find any 330's for under $50k. Nobody actually carries the base models on the lot. True of all brands these days.
The average ICE sold is $45,000. Average EV is $62,000. That BMW is a bargain for what you get as standard.
@@DroneStrike1776Yeah, anything is when comparing it to ev’s, comandante obvious 😂
you'd be surprised to find out the bigger models are in the same ball park, when you really think about it 40k for a car like a BMW isnt terrible when Hondas and Nissans are rolling off the lot at 30s. an extra 10k and youre driving German, a highway machine, vs an economy commuter. totally different ball game, you can find used BMW's for pretty decent prices, just depends on the model really. solid reliable cars just have to know what youre buying. cheapest way to own a BMW is a lease, and then buy it out

4:29 the beautiful M3CS has now shown up
Insane that there’s no adaptive cruise control. The base Honda civic has adaptive cruise control. I’d think that’s just standard on all cars now.
You can get it as part of an option package on a Nissan Versa that costs $21k, and it comes standard on a base Corolla ($23k)
My 2012 Suzuki has keyless & go. It's crazy there are still new cars on sale that don't even have that!
