Greetings boss. Im about to buy a house with a cinder block chimney and its got a leak down the flashing straight down to the crawl. On closing I will be up on the roof repairing the flashing. I wonder if you have a video specific to flashing these style chimneys. ty for teaching me. Saved me from using a 3 gallons jug of tar.

Chad if you were building a new house and intended on using a 2 flue chimney for 2 wood stoves only, would you stay with a clay liner or go with a stainless steel liner based on your experience?@@chadvaillancourt
I would go stainless every time with a wood stove. Ive seen clay liners crack on the first use, granted it was from misuse, but there’s just too many failures, too often, when a wood stove is involved.
I have got a wood stove connected to a masonry chimney that has terracotta (clay) liner inside cinder blocks, But it appears that there is gaps between the terracotta liners pieces, I can fit my fingers through the first junction, I couldn't try the others one since they are too deep. I have heard that it was possible that it has been built this way. Have you ever heard about this process? House is from 1978 . Thanks!
There shouldn’t be any gaps between the flue pieces. Sometimes at the very top the flue pieces will separate from thermal expansion, this happens if they pour the concrete crown wash directly against the flue without leaving room for expansion.
@@chadvaillancourt would it possible to talk about this in message - email by chance? I would really appreciate. I haven't find anyone they could explain me how it's work and I'm really concerned. I would be really grateful!
Nice, I saw you cut a few to make upper smoke chamber. Im building a 30" fireplace and could not find flue tiles, 13x8 only 13x13, will they work or can I cut them down with alternating the cut to fit like bricks....
There are many ways to build a smoke chamber, I use the flue method when I need extra room. If you don’t need the extra space, just build it with brick or block. Make sure it’s 8” thick and smooth parged on the inside, and everything will be fine.
Yes, they will come to our houses and confiscate our wood stoves; then force us to switch to fossils fuels or byproducts of them. Conform or freeze to death. Big money says drilling the earth is better for the environment than renewable energies so we should all comply.

Why chimneys need a bond break (required to be code compliant)

Any info would be greatly appreciated

What state are you in for hire?
Chimneys are coming to an end! Everything will be vented with pvc and epa will outlaw any type of wood stove in the next 10 years
