I need to make one of those, it would make playing gigs so much easier. They sound really good to be so shallow but that's cause you know how to tune and your an awesome drummer!
Nice project, looks n sounds good. Would love a light compact kit but would never want to compromise on sound so will stick with a regular kit until a miracle comes along!
Must admit though it sounds pretty good compared other pricey compact kits on the market. I have a 20" x 8 marching drum already so might have a go myself at building one myself!
Thanks! I have a suitcase drum kit as well. This pancake bass drum sounds much more like a standard kick drum although it does lack the "cool" factor of the suitcase kit :)
sounds good and i like the green and black. i don't think i want to go back to regular depth mounted toms, because i love having them level with my main snare; such economical playing movements, and i like the look of it, too. ayyye, "Holy water" by we the kingdom is in the recommends; think i'll put that on and jam out on my bass.
@@ARDrummer yep, i prefer the punchiness of the 20 as well. also, when we make our own shallow shells from regular ones, we get twice the drums out of them 😂 i just have to find a good percussion parts supplier, because amazon doesn't offer much in that regard.
Hey AR. Great stuff. I am on a build project myself for something similar. Wondering if you have a shallow cut 16 inch shell laying around you want to get rid of. Been trying to find a shell like that for a while now.... anyway...... keep rocking.... John
I probably didn't use the best process to paint them but it's had held up ok. The paint can get messed up when rubbing up against things. It works though.
Aren't all drum kits travel kits? Whether you're using a normal kit or this, it's all going in the car, anyway, I'm assuming you're bringing hardware and cymbals too, so maybe just bring a regular drum kit. Unless you're driving around in a two seater or something. Sorry, I just don't see the point.
To each their own. I have 15 other drum kits and wanted to try something different. This would be for a very small venue and would be used in conjunction with minimal hardware/stands.

Thanks! Yeah, it makes for a pretty portable setup. I was surprised with the sound as well....the shells were even cheap entry level drums.
This is real cool Adam. Great little project. Awesome for small gigs and saving money. Love this.
Thanks Greg! I like how it turned out and was surprised by the "big sound" from such shallow drums :)
Your welcome Adam. Great tips.
Awesome Adam!! Great choice on the black hardware too!!
Thanks man!
Dude that sounds great!! Nice one. 🥁
Thanks...it was a fun project!
Awsome! Love that you have a wuhan linear splash like mine also
Thanks...the linear splash is very unique/cool cymbal
Wow, those sound great!
Thanks!
Sounds awesome
Thank you!
Wow that is cool... Sounds great
Thanks! I was pretty surprised by the sound myself :)

Yes, if I could only have one kit....I would want a full size setup.

Sounds really good. I’m close to finishing a suitcase project but the pancake bass might be a better way to go.

Ayer compre un floor tom y un bombo.. planeo hacer esto mismo para tocar en publico
👍
Nice sound 👌
Thanks!
I want to do something like this with a 10", 13" and 16" tom, along with a 20" kick. Prob a 12" piccolo snare.
Nice...that would be a cool kit!

Thanks! Yeah, I definitely prefer shallower shells as well. Also, a shorter bass drum (20" or smaller) helps to with getting toms lower.

@@Pure_KodiakWILD_Power drumfactorydirect is the best place I know of for drum parts.
@@ARDrummer appreciate you, my brother.
Cool project, I wonder how the painted hardware holds up?
Probably wouldn't hold up great if I'm not careful. The plasti dip does help some in regards to it not flaking of though.

Thanks! I don't have any extra 16" shells but if you should be able to find a cheap used floor tom on ebay or Reverb.
can i get an update on how the hardware stood the test of drumming/time? about to do this myself.

Hey! Cool project and great sound. Just wondering, does this type of drum kits sound quieter than regular ones?
Thanks! Yes, I would say the overall volume level is lower. Not an extreme amount, but somewhat quieter.
@@ARDrummer hey! Thanks for the answer! I appreciate sharing your experience
Hey! What Crash are you using on the right?
16" Wuhan Traditional Series
How much does this weigh? Awesome kit.
Thanks! It's probably around 10 lbs total....very light and portable
I would suggest a table saw
Yes, that would work best....I just don't have one.
Yo my man, you think you hook me up??
Are looking into a small/pancake kit? Best way it to find a cheap kit and cut down the shells. Pretty fun project!
Pretty much so my friend and thank you for liking my videos my friend!!👍👍
