The Rosslyn Pretoria, South Africa, became the first production location outside of Germany for the modern BMW Group. In 1972, the BMW Board of Management decided to take over the entire Rosslyn facility constructed by the local importer. Assembly of the Glas 1800 SA model had started in 1967 and was later followed by the BMW 2000 SA. I am for eradication of poverty but employment is a short term solution. So what's the long term vision and solution for eradicating poverty and inequality in south Africa and Africa. Are we going to wear bmw and ford uniform forever and be proud of our achievement as employees like we have shares in those companies or are we going to steal knowledge and skills to build our own factories?

The more I find out about these projects , the more I repent from accusing the government of not doing anything. I am very much willing to tap into these opportunities and contribute something to our socio-economic development, it's all our responsibility. Surely government does not provide jobs, they have projects in place for people to tap into with their expertise and break them down to create employment. God bless our leaders and continue to help them!

I remember how BMW was planning to do the same thing around my area but local forums/mafias ruined everything when they started asking for a share 😢 its a small township and a lot of people would have benefited 😭
I also hate all these petty politics that discourage investment in local communities. in my township a rich black man wanted to build a mall in our township and the surrounding villages and employ the locals so that we dont have to go and do our shopping in towns that are kilometres away, but the chiefs and municipalities prevented that from happening
