Hey Mark, driver at GTWC/IGTC/ALMS here -- thanks for doing this video -- you guys are true unsung heroes in modern-day motorsports -- it's tough work being a creative in an endurance environment and I have the greatest respect for you and your industry colleagues. See you in Dubai 24 or ALMS at the latest!
Thanks for the nice comment mate. Cool to have a driver here checking out the channel. Unfortunately I won’t be at the Dubai 24 or ALMS this year. My next big event is the Rolex 24
I'll always remember being at Croft during BTCC this year, I was travelling out towards the back of the circuit. I opened a gate, walked up to the Marshalls post to say good morning and let them know I was there and that they were happy with me being there... by the time I stepped towards them and was about to open my mouth one of the Toyotas slid off the track coming within feet of us as it continued to skid past on the grass. That was definitely a wake up to the dangers of doing this job.
At Daytona 24 in 2019, I had a Lamborghini GT3 spin into the tire barrier in the second horseshoe right next to me and that was my wakeupe call that this is in fact very dangerous.
Love your videos, and as a rally photographer myself I can say a lot of the advice in this video translates to our world as well. Keep it up ❤ Also as someone with permanent hearing damage and tinnitus, please please please everyone wear ear protection 🫡
Street circuits are sketchy. At the Toronto Indy this year, one of the Indy cars crashed into the concrete barrier I was standing behind. I was pelted by small pieces of the car, but the barrier moved a good foot or two. A lot of the time, those barriers are placed beside curbs and that's a good recipe to lose your foot.
@@Murbanvideo yea in pitlane I can imagine how scary it must be when 12 cars are flying in at the same time. Not sure how much this applies for Car races since you guys have barriers lol but also positioning yourself strategically in certain parts of the corner. In karting atleast 90% of the time the safest place is the inside of the Apex and the most dangerous place would be the outside of any corner. That’s my only 2 cents great video!
@Murbanvideo yes it has to be said a lot of it here in the UK is the accredited side of photography standing in the places specifically labelled as no go areas 😂
I dream to take photos and videos of motorsports everyday. All I've wanted to actually pursue is motosports photography/ videography for past 2 years. I would give up anything to be trackside and use my camera.
@@rohanbatra69 Love the mindset but it’s absolutely not worth giving up things. It’s very cool and I love it. I get a lot of fulfillment from it but it is still a job at the end of the day and many aspects of it are not fun.

This is a great tool for photo editors to use when sending staff, who might only cover one or two races a year, to keep them safe.
@@Beakphoto true enough. Most of the close calls I’ve seen have been with staff photogs that don’t normally cover racing.
Amazing content!
Dude! This was an amazing video!!
Thanks! I think it’s my favourite I’ve done so far.
Great watch after watching Larry Chen's cota video
Thanks I haven’t watched any of Larry’s recent stuff. I might have dive back in

Almost got hit twice at my first National karting race, thanks for the info lol
I’ve nearly been hit in the pitlane a couple of times. Thankfully just those close calls for now

Now just imagine what its like doing rallying...
A lot of the dangerous stuff I’ve seen in rally is photographers knowingly putting themselves in dangerous situations which is silly

This is a fantastic title haha!
All jokes aside, a very important topic well covered. Great job Mark! 👏🏼
Thanks Lucas!
Woah you have youtube as well? Woah. Why am I surprised? lol.
I am everywhere.
8:40 and the loss of hearing is actually on the good side of what can happen to your ears...
@@NietoKT I know a mechanic that ruptured their ear drum even with their cans on.
