Very nice report about St. Helena. I've always wanted to know this place where Napoleon Bonaparte spent his last years!👍🏻

Hopefully not too many people head there and clog it up. I'd love to build a vertical wind and produce farm there to serve the locals and become one.

The mail ship would have been easier tbh, less connections required although the journey is longer.

Looks like it would be even better to go from New York to Brazil to Saint Helena

True. But the only Airline that is having flights to the Island is Airlink which is a part of South African Airlines. So the you have to fly out of Johannesburg with a quick fuel stop in Nimibia before heading across the water to Saint Helena. Originally there was suppose to be a flight from the North from the UK but because of the wind sheer issue the large plane that would have handled that flight cannot land. The largest plane able to handle the wind and land safely consistently has been the Embraer E190.

The only flights are from Johannesburg to Saint Helena and only one per week except at times there are two flights. There is a direct flight from Atlanta Georgia to Johannesburg. The actual flight from Johannesburg to Saint Helena makes a stopover in Namibia.

Strange. How'd they move the island to it's present location 500 years ago? Where was it before it was there?

The island is so extremely isolated from the nearest landmass that there are still endemic plants that cannot be found anywhere else on Earth and there is an effort underway to restore some of those that have almost become extinct. There are also endemic insects and one endemic Plover bird called The Wire bird.
