This was an excellent presentation and it explains why I have had many of the problems I have had over the years. Also, very instructive were her comments on moisture. I have a crabapple tree which I have observed that, despite what I do, produces good fruit and retains its leaves into October (NE Illinois) during low rainfall years, but which will lose its ratty leaves in mid to late August during high rainfall years!
