Hey Asalberto - they were great engines by most accounts, but it can be difficult to get them worked on these days. You may want to make sure there's someone in your area you can take it to for service before making any final decisions. Good luck!
That'll be a tall order these days... also, we've already heard chatter out there that it's become very difficult to find mechanics to work on them, and replacement parts can be on the expensive side. Good luck!
Afraid we can't give any of value, they went out of busines so soon after introducing these there just aren't a ton of them around. Sorry we can't be of more help!!
@@frantyf HO stands for High Output, but it can mean different things to different manufacturers. We've seen cases where HO models simply were tuned to rev higher than the "regular" version with the same HP rating, cases where some pieces parts (like different camshafts) are used to squeeze out a bit more juice, and other cases where a manufacturer actually offered HO vs. regular versions with different blocks. In this case Evinrude doesn't offer the G2 115 in a version other than HO (though they do have the older style ETEC with a regular 115 rating). Industry standards allow for up to a 10-percent variation in horsepower ratings, so in truth, specific ratings are always open to a bit of interpretation.
Been a 10% allowable increase above badged hp, for quite many years. They were rated in such a way a good 30 yrs ago. So that's a set given, but highest average hp under the curve is what engineers fight for.
This particular rig hit a WTO speed of 46.4, and we cruised at 36 (4500 rpm). It was a bit roughed up, though, and on flat water probably would have done a hair better.

Nice reviews and one thing I don't like with outboards tho that I never like is the prices for all types suzuki evinrude yamaha etc are ridiculously too too high if you have common sense it's just a plain normal engine factory cnc made just like a car with a very low cost for and a single gear drive no transmissions etc. and they still make it cost so damn high even all type of inboards same and I think 🇺🇸 government consumer affairs need to take a look at this con scheme of outboards and inboards and see the cost of manufacturing etc to see how they're unfairly with consumers and put a mandatory price limit of value for the cost of these marine engines!!
Thanks for your comment Ras. We wish they cost less, too, but then again, everything related to boats always seems to cost more than one would wish for.
@@FishTalkMagazine boats deserve high prices definitely because it takes hard work to build and it might take months or years to get a boat or yacht built compared to cnc manufacturing marine engines that can do thousands a day Smh!! 😡
Well, we asked and they said they don't publish an MSRP because of the variation in pricing due to whether the engine is purchased aftermarket, as part of a boat/motor package, with which accessories, etc. Best advice is to talk to your local dealer. Sorry we can't be of more help, on that.
@@FishTalkMagazine No worries. Thanks! any Idea when they are actually going to be on the Evinrude site? Currently the G2 section only lists down to a 150.
why does the failed french canadian company have this evinrude stuff online still? Loser company you would think would take it down, they burned all customer bridges and dealers
Thoughts on 300 G2s with only 144 hrs. I'm looking at a 2006 Wellcraft with that set up to include Idoc and cruise control.

I see the new ETEC was tested in Charleston, SC (Ravenel Bridge and USS Yorktown in background).

Crazy that you say you don’t how 2 strokes are loud bc that’s my favorite thing about them can’t be a screaming 2 stroke
Top speed on this motor tho?
Well, it depends on a slew of variables - the boat, load, conditions, etc.
