I remember when you spawned in with 34 boost instead of 33
Even though technically it's still the same amount of boost. You start with 33 and 1/3 (33.333333). Before every number rounded up, but now it rounds down.

well i am not a ball chaser as i play with a bunch of noob friends who are just learning and playing for fun so when ever i pulled a crazy aerial touch they could see it on the side, same goes for them and i would credit them for "good move" and now its removed kinda triggers me, but i got used to it...

Ya know, the interesting thing is I'm not completely sad just bc I often went into unranked to sweat bc I liked to improve that way. I also followed my unranked mmr pretty closely to estimate my normal level. But on a different day, I'd like going into unranked to fuck around too. The primary reason I didn't do ranked is because of shit connection and salty shores (that map destroys my frames, completely unplayable). Not being able to play with as much confidence as possible is extremely tilting, let alone ranked being tilting in and of itself. And now I'm having mixed feelings of not being able to play hoops without it being a sweat fest (even tho I still like playing it to do the same thing lul), but also liking being able to play a ranked mode again (bc I get the best frames in hoops... i swear to god if they add a shitty frame dropping map to hoops, I'm probably done playing that too)
well every evening i get like 150-200 ping, and usually you could have fun in hoops and freestyle, now you are going to make your teammates mad :(

IK in s1 I did that to act cool and got SO MANY people to rage quit. I was so good but I kinda got worse as the seasons went on, then it hit me: people were getting BETTER AND BETTER and I wasn't getting better, and I felt like a noob until I somehow scored a super cool pinch goal. then I thought to myself: wow I'm pretty dang good now! and it just turned out I got lucky. sooooo yeah. I quit rocket league until now and got some time in on the game and now I am way better than before. I win almost every game I started, and my win %s r like 98.957. so I am pretty good now. (as u can tell (: )

There was also the ranked reward change, you used to only have to reach a rank to get the reward, but now you have to win 10 games in that rank
Worst change in my opinion. It felt good when you finally hit that one rank and got its reward.

My favorite part about that, is they renamed it. In the map list, there's 'wasteland', and 'badland', I think that's hilarious.
i hated that map in ranked, had like a 90% loss rate on that map with my duo.

I hated the old Wasteland more than those other maps. The game was always stunted by it. Between my skill level, the sunken valley of the floor and the shortened or curved walls/ceiling really dumbed down the game in my eyes.
Sad he did not talk about the ranks Prospect, Challenger and those ranks like if you played back then.
It's annoying how people in the comments are talking about this but not season 1 ranks.

@@ditoo2002 2 had the same ranks as 3 but, I think the first month of S2 had slightly different ranks. It was Prospect and Challenger like normal but it was rising star, all star, superstar and Champion. There was no purple rank.

i don't like how drop shot (and the other games modes) are no longer casual. i don't need a rank in them to have fun. i wouldn't mind ranked but not at the expense of losing casual. i loved going into a game and either absolutely crushing the other team or getting crushed. it was fun and satisfying. not every game feels them same and theres no pressure to get better because we're all at the same skill level.
also, as someone who takes ranked games kinda seriously, drop shot and rumble were just kind of relaxing. now i have to focus on being a try hard and nailing every shot so i can hold up my team.
peytonmanning04 no one played them in casual. it took me 15 to 20 minutes to find a single game before ranked.

I think removing unique hit-boxes backfired on them. I remember watching a video (maybe even one of yours) where someone talked about why the Octane was so popular. They said that it's not just the shape of the hit-box, it's how well the visual shape of the car fits the hit-box. When the ball touches the hit-box on the regular Octane, it looks like it's touching the actual car and your brain says "yes, that makes sense". With standardized hit-boxes, there are a lot of car bodies where, when the ball touches the hit-box, visually it's not even close to the car. Just play with the Scarab if you want to test this lol. This can make your brain flip out a little bit and drove even more players to the "big-3" bodies (Octane, Batmobile, Dominus) because they're more true to their hit-boxes visually.
I really hope they change this back some day. No reason to use anything other than Dominus, Octane, Breakout, and Batmobile when their hitboxes match the actual car.
I can’t remember how close the hitboxes were before the change but iirc they never really fit the visual of the car. Because they are actual boxes, which the cars clearly at not (visually).
Having them all be standardized actually allows for more car variety.
Because now nothing is different, besides visuals, when playing Takumi vs Octane. You don’t have to feel bad about it because it performs exactly the same.
Since no car, not even the Octane, truly matches their hitbox (besides maybe the Merc), learning the cars hitbox takes some time but then it is muscle memory.
Since all the hitboxes now are standardized, all cars are viable outside of some extreme cars (don’t know what it’s called).
No other new car that was similar to octane could compete with octane because it has superior elevation from ground on top of it having one of the tallest hitboxes. Also hitbox standards broke dominus gt for me. They moved the hitbox back so that the nose of dom gt got worse. I think cars nose should represent hitbox accurately to make it popular. Also u need to see it while driving.
I used to play with the Backfire and the Road Hog as my primaries. One day, I loaded in, and it was like all the time I had spent practicing wasn't worth a damn anymore. I swapped to the Takumi, since it sort of slid around like the Backfire did, but it's never been the same, since. Eventually, I settled on the Dominus, as it seemed to feel the most natural, possibly because of visual continuity with the hitbox.
It's still a bummer that I spent probably 200 hours just trying out different cars as I got them, and playing them to some small degree of competency each (except the Ripper, ugh) not only for my own benefit in choosing which I wanted to play, but how each would handle when I matched up against them, only to have the majority of the knowledge and experience become useless.
this is why the merc has been praised by some (scrub) when vastly overlooked by the majority of the playerbase. it fits it’s hitbox very well because it’s literally just a box

I was sad when I started playing rocket league after epic games bought it and I didn't have crates anymore. I got the game in 2017 and got A TON of crates but I never had any keys and I never really understood the full game and now I am sad because I had so many and they just disappeared.

There are training packs that allow you to fly out of the map, for console and PC
Go into a 1v1 vs a bot. Demo the bot. Save the replay. View the bot's POV. When the bot gets demo'd, you can use the fly cam to get out of the map. You won't have your car but at least you can move around the map.

They also removed the naming of the ranks. Silver used to be prospect . Gold used the be challenger. Diamond used to be ranked in star, rising star, superstar. Also divisions used to go up to 5 not just 4. :) Love ur vids dude!
P O to be technical, Grand champ back then was around Diamond 1 now. They reworked ranks entirely

AFK Animations hat's not how it works. Grand Champion back then was still roughly the same top percentage of players as it is now. Season 2 was top 0.07% and Season 3 was top 0.3% (S3 was special, but Season 8 GC was the top 0.16% in 2v2, halfway to Season 3). You're imagining the Skill Rating required to achieve the rank, but the actual Skill Rating number itself is meaningless.
For example, GC for 2v2 in Season 3 required 1150 Skill Rating in Season 3. However, this was entirely because Season 3 had a hard reset and there was a lack of MMR inflation for the longest time. This was until Psyonix recalibrated the ranks to allow 0.2% of players into GC. Psyonix then let the season go on a for a whopping 10 months and it allowed much more MMR inflation raising GC to the top 0.3%-0.4% by the time it ended. However, that 1150 skill rating is not directly convertible to Season 4, as Season 3 to Season 4 was just a soft reset *in addition* to the fact that Psyonix changed the MMR calculations which raised the Skill Rating of everyone by 150. So what was 1150 would become 1300, which is Champion I. Not only that, but Psyonix added 3 more ranks to allow more MMR inflation into the system while still having ranks that make sense skill-wise, so instead of GC being 1300 based off of adding 150 to a rank would be allowed to inflate to 1500 in order to be GC.

If you needed to pay attention to anything from my statement it's that the ranks are based on percentages. This means that Season 3 GC is nowhere close to Diamond I percentage wise.

I want back Rocket Labs. It was just really good for chill off. Also I dont mind Octagon in rumble, but I hate Tokyo Underpass. And btw, I will look weird for most people, but I think Octane looks worse than Twinzer, so I use Twinzer. Octane wing is cool, but the booster and front mask looks retro and bad.
I truly miss Rocket Labs. I probably spent my first 50 hours just there. And oh boy, the intense and just plain funny games (even tho everybody sucked)
When I started to play unranked exclusively, my mmr went up so much that I could never play Rocket Labs again. I was pretty unhappy bc those maps giving me great frames compared to regular maps. Not to mention being able to play on weird maps is pretty fun

Yes. Every time I play I play about 5 casual games to warm up. And if I'm playing bad I just stay in casual. And if I'm tired or dont feel like sweating I play casual. Casual is a friend.

Actually, I think the dumbest thing about it is the fact that you have to win 10 games in EACH previous rank just to get to the rewards in your current rank. Like, if you get your rank and win 10 games to get the "bronze reward" without ranking down.... why the fuck don't you just get the reward for your current rank? Makes no sense

2 things missing from this list:
1. For a short time, you could randomize bots' cars when in private/offline matches. Sometimes you would see items that had yet to be released.
2. Instead of replays after a match ended, it would show the winning team's cars for the 60 seconds after a match. It was great seeing all the items and designs from the other players up close without any distractions such as playing the game.

Before goal explosions and the camera would zoom in on you was the worst they took out I used to like seeing myself and others on the camera after the goal it made ppl focus on your free styling after and your items you had on and wanted to show off now you don’t really get a good look at someone’s items until the end of the game
Getting 20 points for clears, when I started playing RL I was the worst striker you’ve ever seen so I decided to only play chaos and be a goalie, and I just miss having that banner and getting an extra 20 for just hitting the ball away. But now a days Im playing ranked 1v1s and I’m a gold 3, so I’m actually becoming able to play a game and really help my team.

#11: DLC or Premium cars, they cant be purchased anymore, the first 3 DLC packs (Supersonic fury, Chaos run and Revenge of the battle cars) where given to all players when the blueprint update came, and the other DLC cars aren't obtainable anymore

2015: Boosting to the net to make a save. Jumping up then back flipping. You used to stop forward momentum and get the save. Made some sick saves. But now it makes more sense that the car keeps hurling forward.

FailedStorm8331 unless you get something like tw pixel fire so you make it for 700 and then sell it for 1100.
Also a good thing, you had to buy crates to have a random drop but blueprints you get for free and you can advertise for the item but if no one makes an offer then you just don’t make it

What about non-transparent goalpost walls. In my opinion that was one of the biggest improvements being able to see through your own goalpost wall.
I dont find this in the comments, but for me a big change was that they changed the level system. I had a 1 year break and when I came back I got like +30 lvls because now you just need 20k experience for every level. You also dont have the titles like amateur or semi-pro

that thing when you scored the camera was only pointing to you was actually cool..
Pretty soon they're about to remove crates and replace them with "blueprints" where you can spend in-game currency to create a specific item from a blueprint.
Removing loot boxes from a game is a good thing most of the time anyway.

How about being able to receive an uncommon wheel after games. (Even had the chance of getting painted ones) I have two 'Black' Deicis that I unlocked in the old days. They changed them to "Exotics" And you can only get them now by trading 5 non-crate imports. Can't believe you forgot this one... That would be my number one.

The change that made me mad the most was when they removed the lightning boost you could get after the game. In the beginning I wouldn’t buy keys for crates so I was only able to get the items after game. I had gotten every other item you could get after the game besides the lightning boost. I was so close to getting it but then they removed and it was awful (I’m still a bit salty)🧂

I’m pretty sure there also used to be a notification for dribbling the ball like getting 3 or more touches consecutively
something that wasnt removed but rather added, that is the amount on wins needed to receive my rank rewards. i miss the old you get the rewards for what rank you finnish in
