I like doing landscaping & decoration in FS22 aswell, my only weak-spot is making run-down farms though, as in you got your couple of working sheds, but everything else is unsafe to enter, abandoned, or the farm was a thing, but then (as like the farm my grandparents own) the state put a high-voltage power line through the middle of the property...aswell as adding historical shapes to fields, like old railroad right of way that's been sold to the farmers after they ripped the line out, etc.
Edit: Fences & fence gates also have snapping.

So from someone growing up in the midwest and around farms all my life, round the edges where the farm roads meet the grass. Foot paths leading to and around the house are fine to be straight edges, but in the farm yard itself those edges are rounded by equipment running over them.
For edges gravel pads/roads, add a very thin layer of dirt around the gravel pad between it and the grassy areas. Farm hands and farmers often run the equipment near the edges of the pads, or park trailers/trucks there so the edges often turn to mud. You can add meddow grass over the dirt to simulate a 'damaged' area that is starting to recover.
For edge of concrete slabs, doing a thin painting of gravel is suggested as the edges of concrete get broken off and crushed by heavy farm equipment. Also, IRL a layer of sand then gravel is placed down and then packed down before the concrete is laid overtop, so you sometimes see some of that gravel along the edges of a slab. Again, dont be afraid of meddow grass here and there in the gravel.
Shrubs against storage buildings are common in the US midwest as well.
For those doing farm yard work on PC, learn the hotkey of Shift+P to jump into landscaping, instead of going through the menus.
I'd suggest the following mods besides Place Fences Anywhere, Free Landscaping Tools, Free Fences and Bushes:
    Tools:
    Power Tools
    Freeze Time
    PAINT and TerraForm anywhere
    Decorations:
    Large Groundstains
    Placeable Tire Tracks
Natural Water Rivers and Ponds Pack
    Deco Stones
    Bridge Set
    Placeable Powerlines
    Decorative Details Pack
    Placeable Object Pack
First, Power Tools will let you give and take away money, perfect for setting up your farm and then you can remove the left over so you can have a more real playing experience. Give yourself 30 - 40 Million.
Next, Freeze Time. Go into settings and change the time rate to 0.5 (which effectively stops time). After the farm is built, turn the time rate back to whatever you like.
The Paint and terraform tool will allow you to work on land you don't 'own'. You can edit the terrain if you are placing a bridge over a creekbed that splits your land with NPC land.
Large Groundstains will help 'dirty up' the farm gravel/concrete and make it look used, like a real farm. Same with the Placeable tire tracks. Instead of using the different painted ground textures, use these instead. These only work on level ground so on hills and farms without flat land, then the paint textures are your friends.
Natural Water Rivers and Ponds pack is great for adding water to the streambed or making a pond. Just place this last otherwise you are always getting the collision error when doing other work.
Placeable Powerlines...I mean, midwest US, very few farms have underground power to their buildings so power has to get to the buildings/farms somehow :)
Deco Stones is great for adding details to a stream/creekbed, also for painted gravel areas where you want more detail.
The Decorative Details pack has a bunch of items to place around the farm to make it more immersive.
The Placeable Object Pack has large rocks that are great for adding 'waterfalls' and natural dams to your streambed.
For those looking to create a century farm from Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, those farms often have 'field rock piles' on the edges of their fields. Back in the late-1800's to mid-1900's, farmers didn't sell fieldstones, the piled them up and left them. You can find barns made out of field stones in this area too. (Look up the Stone Barn in Stevens County, MN)
Also, traveling along the highways and byways of these states, you can see large boulders just laying along edges of roads and fields. The ice age glaciers dropped large boulders in these states, and especially around the edges of what was once 'glacial lake agassiz' and "glacial river warren'. Look up HWY 7 boulder near Ortonville, MN to see just one of these boulders.

Really well done so far. Also a PC player so i use all the same Mods. I downloaded Giants editor yesterday and plan to start changing some of the undeleteable buildings too! Sometimes my favorite part is farm setup. Haha.

I would have to say building and landscaping for sure is my favorite. I spend hours sometimes just building a farm and then never play on it lol. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed!

I sometimes just load up a blank map and start creating towns. I forget I'm supposed to be farming sometimes 😂

I'm guilty of that too lol. I spend so much time building a farm downloading the perfect mods to go with it then never play on it lol

@Urfaultgame lol right? I played alot of cities skylines so I blame that. Hopefully in the future fs games they can integrate something along those lines. Where you can start a blank map, build it and publish it. I know they are kinda held back by consoles but from what I hear fs24 will be only for the new gens so hopefully we see something more detailed and expanded from launch

@Urfaultgame excluding the map editor which is only pc of course. A map editor all platforms can hop in on and publish.

If I can give you a suggestion, build your fence along the road First, then add in the gate and remove the fence between the gates

Landscaping is my favorite too!! Thank you this helped a lot. I have trouble sticking with a build, because it just don't look real enough.

Is there a way to get more realistic grass instead of just painting the grass it’s kinda annoying having grass just paint

    • @that150rbkid3

After painting your grass go to the plants option and put down "meadow"
