I find it fascinating how her eyes like lose their sparkle whenever she dissociates and light up as soon as a new alter appears but also depending on how they light up you can guess who the alter is you're watching Also they made me less afraid of people with DID (had a very toxic relationship with someone with DID... Like two alters were... No.) and I'm so happy because DID fascinates me and kinda helps me get over trauma related to it
Same on the toxic relationship with someone who had DID, except he was most likely faking it and I was young and stupid and believed him. It does shine a lot of light and teaches you that people with DID aren't dangerous (any more so then non DID people) and that theres nothing to fear
I personally have DID and I’m told that I suddenly space out in the middle of a conversation and then I suddenly sound super harsh yet caring at the same time then I go back to normal after I space out again.
Well, we laugh with them and not at. I’m sure they are happy and some others as well that we can laugh and smile at the cutest interactions they have and how entertaining they can be.
Good things can come from hardships. My horrible memory means I can leave myself little surprises and I’m always excited when past me did something nice for present me. It’s like “OMG SHE GAVE ME A CHOCOLATE BAR I LOVE U PAST ME” or “you know I bet she’ll need smth to keep her going, maybe I’ll pack her a few extra snacks since she’s stressed out by exams” And although my grades aren’t where I want them to be and I always have to make sure that I have extras of everything everywhere so I always have a mask, pencil, calculator, notebook, hand sanitizer, etc. wherever I go, I can still make the best out of my disorders by making something fun out of it as well.
Very true, and I think the point you're making here is that a *person with mental illness* is still a *person*. People do funny things all the time, and laughter, when directed at the right things, can be very humanizing for people who have been made to feel less-than-human.

they became my comfort creators after i questioned myself having d.i.d. and then looking into it a lot more, i can now say that i just have really shotty memory and disassociate a lot because of anxiety and all that stuff. but even as a person without d.i.d., they are still very informative and fun to watch

As someone with both really bad ADHD and some sort of disassociative disorder (still talking with my therapist but I’m quite sure it’s depersonalization derealization disorder) this is really true. There is a difference which is hard to explain. It outwardly looks the same but internally there’s a noticeable difference but sometimes it’s both or it’s hard to tell. Like zoning out is kinda like if you were watching stuff on your phone during the entirety of a movie, you pick up very little, maybe you look up from time to time but there is almost no focus. While disassociation is like if you went to the movie while wearing your friends prescription glasses and ear plugs. You’re still there and you want to be present but you’re cut off and can’t really experience it in the same meaningful way, and maybe occasionally something makes it through but it’s just disorienting overall.
What everybody thinking DID is: *Serial killers. The movie split. Bad people.* What it actually is: **Looks in the freezer** who ate all the ice cream!? I dont have DID but I saw a tiktok like that, people with DID aren’t crazy and arent serial killers :)

this is why i don’t like when people substitute “zoning out” with “disassociating” because the two are completely different.
As someone with both really bad ADHD and some sort of disassociative disorder (still talking with my therapist but I’m quite sure it’s depersonalization derealization disorder) this is really true.
There is a difference which is hard to explain. It outwardly looks the same but internally there’s a noticeable difference but sometimes it’s both or it’s hard to tell.
Like zoning out is kinda like if you were watching stuff on your phone during the entirety of a movie, you pick up very little, maybe you look up from time to time but there is almost no focus.
While disassociation is like if you went to the movie while wearing your friends prescription glasses and ear plugs. You’re still there and you want to be present but you’re cut off and can’t really experience it in the same meaningful way, and maybe occasionally something makes it through but it’s just disorienting overall.
This is so beautiful! It’s incredible how you have so many (people?) All working together to create a beautiful person!!
