Awesome analysis! Sam Kolder's style is so unique and I'm happy to learn more about it! Keep up the good work man! :)
Jayrod thankyou so much!!
TMS Productions Anytime man!!! Thanks for making incredible content! :)
iS THIS A A JOKE??
His style isnt unique, he copied his style from ‘Watchtower Of Turkey‘ by Leonardo Dalessandri who uploaded his video in 2014 when Sam was still a rookie.
I love Sam Kolder and his videos, but I have to say his editing style isn’t unique 😕
Simple and clear cut, great analysis!!!!
+Reuben Lalmalsawma thanks!!!
This is so awesome! Thanks for making this. I really love how you timelined out the movement along leading lines. Always wondered how he makes those sequences look so smooth!
Well well made! Enjoyed all the graphics and effort You put into this! 10/10
Please do more of this! (breaking down/analyze certain aspects of transitions, shots, etc.)
this is very well analyzed, something sam's work has taught me is the importance of pacing
vcaptures thanks man! ya it sure does
*So perfect analysis...* Thanks for your work man. Sam is a biggest one and so much talented. He inspired me to start my channel but i want to find my own style. It's not very easy but we can do that to inspire thousand like him!
+Mind of Paka thanks you and that's awesome
I followed sam kolder from time he made skateboard videos. I knew he will go big one day.
im really analyzing the movement in his videos. I'm about to go to Japan in October and im going to make my first travel video. The part that i can't get over is how he plans out his shots...probably the hardest part for me. This video helped a lot thank you!
Super impressive breakdown! Really enjoyed it!
+Andrew James thankyou:)
the one and only sam kolder! my favorite travel vlogger ever. the break down of his art is lit!
Thank you. I was wait for long for a breakdown like this. This is so good.
+MISTAKEwasMINE Glad you like it!
+MISTAKEwasMINE thankyou:)
Kolder is just a skillful and talented artist! Many of filmmakers (and not-filmmakers) wanna copy his style and that's why it turned into being "cliche". But nobody will every do something identical, something that has the "this" because it's his, author's and unique style. Really great job and inspired (to do something different)!
great break down, super in-depth.
Cody Church thanks!
This is how you truly pay tribute to a legend like Sam _/\_ :) Highly appreciated (y)
+Shirsendu Adak Thank you!
+Shirsendu Adak haha thankyou!

Awesome video! Thanks for your in depth analysis! Subbed!
Thank you so much!
I watched this about 5 times, its so good and educating
Lisa Gehrig thank you!
His videos are legendary travel films it just motivates me to go out and do the same but with my own twist
+LewseeAhh That’s awesome!
your videos are so bloody good man, i one day hope to be a film maker on the levels of skills that you have
Dude, your analysis is on point! Il love how you provide examples to show each aspect of Sam's films.
I love Sam Kolder’s work he’s new generation filmmaker
I‘d highly recommend you to take a look at ‘Watchtower Of Turkey‘ by Leonardo Dalessandri if you‘re not familiar with it already. It‘s the video all this transition heavy, on tune and flow-feeling like montage technique started with. So far I haven‘t found one video getting even close to this super elaborate and labor intense masterpiece.
best vid WOT
Thank you so much for this.
Honestly the best video on youtube.
Couldn't agree more! Sam Kolder clearly has a lot of inspiration from Watchtower, so I feel Leonardo deserves a little bit more credit!
I absolutely agree with you dude "watchtower of turkey" the masterpiece 🤘
im so lucky knowing Sam for the last 2 years 😁 really enjoyed video he made.
Wow, yall really did your research and broke this down amazingly well- great job!
thank you so much!
Still very helpful breakdown of kold's brilliant editing style. Notes taken. Thanks to both of you :)
One of the best video analysis I’ve seen congrats🙌
Great analysis vid! Your presentation and breakdown of Sam’s footage are on point.
Austin Jo Thank so much:)!
100% the most under rated creator on this platform. This is incredible ,thank you for inspiring me,keep it up,I made video because of you
He does such an amazing work, every video that he makes is a really peace of art
Sam is like came from another world. He is impeccable.
Postmortem of SK videos...and i loved it!
no comment. he has original and unique type of videos !
RYOGA PRATAMA sorry what?
i mean hes one of the best of filmmaker, man. and awesome analysis anyway :)
RYOGA PRATAMA oh hahah ya hey sure is! thanks:)
Awesome man, this is going to be my go to vid for a while now, thanks for doing this. You know heaps of content creators are going to create stuff like sam now haha, but seriously, i am learning video and to be honest i like to copy peoples style to learn techniques. If we see something we really like, of course we want to know how they did it. Every artist learned techniques from artists before them, its like a collective evolution of artistry! Oh and just had to mention how effective that shot at 3:28 is, i got a little tickle in my downstairs mixup
loved your attempt at this analysis, Sam's definitely an inspiration for fellow filmmakers like myself.
+S M A L thanks!
This is one of the most enjoyable videos I have ever seen, it is beautifully composed with a perfect flow and very very helpful information. Great work on this video loved the way it was made!!!
Really well done video. Thanks a ton. Sam Kolder is a filmmaking god
+JDiculous Thanks!
+JDiculous anytime! and yes he is haha
honestly you should make more of these!
nick Verneck Yeah we're planning on doing some more, we have just been busy with school and other projects recently
Good video and good breakdown. One thing to not is that when you say his use of time lapse, there are also hyper lapses as well. A time lapse is most always where the camera is stationary and on a tripod. A hyper lapse consists of lots of pictures taken one step at a time, which is how it looks like a time lapse but the camera gets closer to the subject.
dude more of thsi please!!!
I like that little lesson at the end
I've been to Iceland, but I'm glad I watched your vid. Wow. Great stuff.
Thanks!!
Love this man! Real well made.
+Arnold Trinh thanks!
Maybe one of the best analysis we have ever seen! Good job! We were only looking for more about color grading! Anyway thanks for sharing ;)
Alessandro & Federica thankyou!
True master of the cinematic universe
Solid content, bro! 🔥👊🏼
Really well done, its a shame so many people think they can be him though. He's on another level
+NOMADS Thank you!
Awesome breakdown man! Really gave an inside look in the style of the biggest travel filmmaker atm
Zeb Bulthuis thank you!!
Wow, I think I just learned so many editing technics. Thanks so much!
anytime:)!
TMS Productions I tried B-Roll today and the images just don't match what I say. Any tips on how to find out what b-roll would be good to match the script?
Fantastic and professional analysis! Great stuff.
This was amazing advice for young and new vloggers and videographers. Great work.
Great video! Just learned about Sam kolder about a month ago after watching a video comparing him to Casey Neistat.
+Carnival PS [SUBSCRIBE] 4 MiamiCarnival Updates Thank you!
Great video! Looking forward to Caisy Neistat Analysis!
Incredibly well put together man! Good stuff 🙌🏻
+Jericho Nagel thanks!!
The very first travel video I was inspired was from MrBrynnorth - Life In Cape Town. The video is showing about nature life, I remember when the first time I watch it while i was high of maryJ. Then I found Jay Alvarrez videos before I know Sam Kolder.
To me, MrBrynnorth, Jay Alvarrez and Sam Kolder have different kind of genre. And they all are my idols :)
loved it man, analytical and straight forward!
Brent F Thank you!
beautiful!!
Dope Dope Dope! Keep them cominggg! 🙏🙏
+Bradley Richardson thanks!! we got a lot of vids coming
Very well done, you should make more of these. Tim Kellners videos for example.
+Thijs Goedegebuure that's the plan! and great idea
YES PLEASE
Do Rory Kramer next
Our list: Neumann films, Rory Kramer, Brandon Li, Yuri Palma, Ben Brown, Scott Fitzgerald, JR Alli, Leonardo DAlessandri. 2017 MVP should be among these names. And about Best Landscape video of 2017, Land of Giants ( Yuri Palma) or Backpacking Bali ( MrBrynnorth)
I'd love to see one of Brandon Li or JR Alli! TaylorCut would be cool as well :)
That was a great breakdown of Kolder's style!
It's helpful, tks all you guys
+Bảo Huy anytime!
Thanks for the analysis, I just discover Sam Kolder and yourself. And I was trying to understand Kold’s technique.

+Tom4fr thank you so much,
such a good video! best iv'e seen
+Rory Illidge thank you so much!
Rory Illidge right !? Pretty dope video
Fantastic analysis mate!! Really well done
OMG! so nice! Brazil here.
good job! the question is now, how do we make good travel videos and avoid people telling us we are copying Sam Kolders Style?
who the fuck is Jay Alvarrez next to Sam Kolder
+Thomas Weinreich hahahaha
I agree, Sam's videos are much better, in my opinion
i understand that and agree....I would say that JA is more natural without many Adobe, edit, camera transiions tricks...and SK takes edit and filmaking to the pro level. I guess that someone who isnt gifted for edit and producing, would make a movie more like JA than SK . I like both styles, but we learn more and get more thrileed with SK
Most of Jay's videos aren't even edited by him or he doesn't even film them. Notice that he appears in the video all the time doing crazy stuff or hanging with some girl. Can't credit him for most of ''his'' work. The dude who usually does everything is Greg Giselynck.
Thank's man! Where did you see my videos and my girlfriend, Instagram or UA-cam? hahaha
I like the video ! fun to watch and informative.
+RB NinetyFive Thanks for the feedback!
+RB NinetyFive thanks we're glad you enjoyed it!
