Tanya is easily one of my top 5 anime villains, and is in the top 10 for favorite anime characters of all time. (Edit): Quick update for those commenting, I know that she's the protagonist of the show, but fun literature fact for you, 'protagonist' and 'hero' are two different things. The 'protagonist' is the main character of whatever story you're reading, and the 'antagonist' is the person/entity/structure that fights against the protagonist. The 'protagonist' can be a 'villain', and the 'antagonist' can be a Hero. this is shown in the Saga of Tanya because Tanya herself feels little to no remorse for killing and lying to people for personal gain, making her a villainous protagonist, while Mary is a heroic antagonist because her goals are to stop the war and get revenge for her father
