Definitely the best instructional video for backup sump pump installation. It's concise and to the point. The music could be eliminated to improve it.

Can I use MK Deep Cycle Gel Cell 12 Volt battery for a watchdog backup sump pump instead of a Watchdog battery?

More than its worth. Battery backups are unreliable

Back-up Sump Pump is not operational when main pump is normally operating? When the water in the sump rises to the higher level of the new float switch, the back -up pump works?
Why use a battery if electricity is available. Besides a battery can go flat if you really have a big flooded basement.

This is in case power goes out to prevent flooding

float switch is set higher because we want the backup pump to sleep unless the main pump becomes overwhelmed or dies. It's happened to me once before during heavy rain, main pump couldn't keep up and backup came on which sets off an alarm, but kept my basement dry. Battery is there incase main power goes out you have SOMETHING to protect the basement at least for awhile.

@@Factsfrommetoyou Fact is - if you have a flooded basement doesn't mean the entire neighborhood has a flooded basements. Power companies do not shut off power because of 1 flooded basement. Chances are your home is will still powered.
Pumps consume large quantities of power! If you must have a backup battery to power a pump & it would have to be of a high amp/hour capacity to pump for hours...most likely of the lithium variety! Expensive purchase & expensive maintenance! One more problem to think of!
Hire a company to get the job done. Have their phone # at readiness!
My best advice is to install an "Early Warning Water Level Sensors System" using telemetry to your mobile phone.
Set to trigger at a 'low' level which would activate the pump early avoiding substantial damage & also the possibility of an electrical power cut...which the latter as said before is very unlikely.
