I was getting totally frustraded with EAC crashing on every single open dialog -load profile- assign directory. I decided to unistall winfsp and now I have a working version of EAC again. Thank you

Btw, You need the Accuraterip plugin installed (comes bundled with EAC but maybe you uninstalled it lol)
For those who loathe long videos, here's the important bits written for you:
    - The CD you use needs to be in the accuraterip database. Try as many popular CDs as you can get your hands on.
    - CDs with dozens of pressings/editions won't be able to activate accuraterip nor will CDs released in the last ~6 months
    - EAC needs internet access
    - EAC needs to be able to read the disc you're using to activate Accuraterip
    - EAC needs permission to write Registry Keys
    - Make sure beginner mode is disabled
Check whether or not the setting is enabled in EAC Options -> Tools
    - Make sure you don't already have accuraterip enabled
Check your settings in Drive Options -> Offset/Speed to see if you can enable it.
    - If you have WinFSP installed or anything that uses WinFSP it must be patched (or uninstalled) in order to enable accuraterip.
To patch WinFSP go to the link in the description, save the .bat script in your WinFSP directory then run the .bat script as Admin
    - Ensure you're using the correct drive from the drop down menu
    - If your drive doesn't appear in the menu it may be the following:
Bad SATA/USB port/cables or lack of power
Your CD drive does not have a drive letter
    A misconfigured virtual machine
    You're using remote access (RDP)
If you're using RDP you need to edit the default settings to give yourself access to the host machines CD drive.
    1. Open Group Policy Editor (gpedit)
    2. Navigate to Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System -> Removable Storage Access -> All Removable Storage Allow Direct Access -> Enable

Hey, Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I'm working with a very large personal library, mainly because I discovered disks go bad over time. My goal is to digitize my library, archive it, but also make a library available for something like Plex or JellyFin. EAC can do amazing work on disk with light/medium physical damage. My library is so large I purchased a machine to "repair" damaged disks. However, it would be awesome if you could possibly cover some more advanced settings, especially digitizing to wav (lossless) audio. I've read a lot of documents that say things like "Even if you drive supports C2, disable it." also, I attempted to update the CUETools for EAC but after the update it doesn't show the checksum/samples at the end of the error log anymore. That brought me here for answers and troubleshooting. If you have any advice on "doing it right the first time." I'd greatly appreciate it.

There is a video on my channel for how to setup EAC to produce 100% logs and by extension perfect rips.
If the issue is that it doesn't show you how to rip wav (as it shows you how to rip FLAC instead) you can simply use Test & Copy Selected Tracks -> Uncompressed to create WAV files instead.
If the issue was that you wanted an explanation on why you should set each setting a certain way as opposed to just telling you what to set, the bulk of it is:
Secure mode re-reads each sector of your disc twice, then performs "error correction" whereby it re-rips the sector multiple times until its able to pull the data in an event of a damaged disc. All other settings read each sector once and have no error correction.
Aside from that, the only other pertinent settings are using test & copy to create two copies of the rip to compare them to each other to confirm you are succesfully ripping the same data between rips, not normalizing the audio and appending gaps to the previous track (+detecting them in the first place) because this will mimick the real playback of a CD.

Hi, i wonder...is there any way to find the offset for a "Generic external 1.10" driver? Just got a cheap external DVD/BR unit and cant get the accuraterip thing. thanks

Are you using some sort of adapter to connect this drive to your PC? If so, try plugging it in directly. That name sounds like something you'd see when using an adapter/hub.
Alternatively, investigate the enclosure to see if you can find an OEM model name for the actual drive model inside. If you find what looks like a model name plug it into accuraterip.com/driveoffsets.htm to see if it exists.
If you're plugging it directly into your PC and there are no markings that give a hint as to what drive is inside, you can try to do it the old fashion way.
Insert CDs until the accuraterip popup appears for the first time, telling you that you need 2 more key discs to set your offset, then insert more CDs until you get the second, and third popup. On the 3rd key disc insertion you should be able to activate accuraterip like normal.

Thanks for the reply!@@sharky1112 Is plugged in directly to one of the USB 3.0 on the back. I guess is just because is a really cheap (I live in China and I looked for a $20 +- unit...) and 100 % generic (ODPS1203-SU3... a model used by different unkown/cheap chinese brands) unit. Plays the stuff correctly, just wanted to be able to rip CDs from time to time...instead of going back to my old laptop.
Thanks for the last tip, i will try with it, though my current collection is mainly japanese/korean rock so probably there will be no much luck with getting results for comparsion XD

I'm sure this is a dumb question, but is there a reason to use EAC and stuff to rip a CD instead of using the built in windows media player w/ flac?

If your intention is to just create a *listenable* copy of your files there'd be no reason to use EAC over anything else.
The exception to this is if the disc in question is damaged or otherwise can't be read on a single read thru it. Most """fast""" programs will read your disc once and skip over any data it can't manage to obtain. This can make the copy you rip unlistenable with windows media player as an unreadable disc would translate to pops/clicks/skips or loud noise throughout the rip.
The point of EAC is to create a (within reason) perfect copy of your CD, accompanied by a ripping log that adequately proves that is the case by disclosing exactly how you ripped the CD and whether or not any errors occured during the rip.
You can also create a noncompliant cuesheet with gap retention so that you can make your copy as close to the original CD playback as you can.
Damaged discs can also be ripped using "secure mode" to re-read damaged sectors numerous times until its able to pull the correct data from it, all programs that have no form of "error correction" would skip over each damaged sector causing audible errors.

Not exactly, you can still enable accuraterip by using 3 "key" discs. In other words, you would need to try CDs until it says that you've entered 1 of 3 key discs, then continue until you get the "3/3" popup and the ability to enable accuraterip.
