- Today we are exploring a very creepy Minecraft glitch which takes all the light out of your world, and turns everything PITCH BLACK. Which means you can't see mobs, structures, or even other players. It was pretty strange........

Here's a tutorial on how to do this glitch:
Step 1 go to %appdata% and open .minecraft
Step 2 open the text file in there called options.txt
Step 3 Set the brightness to -100.0

This lets you feel powerful for a sec by using torches, then yanks it away. This glitch is better horror than most horror games.

i made a datapack that does this but instead of breaking your brightness, it just removes daylight and makes it permately pitch black and mobs can spawn everywhere

I remember that glitch coming in my world when I was a little kid and I was terrified.
how? this is very hard to achieve accidentally, you need to go into the settings folder and mess with the brightness.

I like how the pitch blackness also has lights in it, like red, so it looks like a mix between the void and a disco
I’ve experienced a mini version of this glitch in bedrock edition, a small area that should be lit up just..isn’t, it looks like then and when ypu place excessive torches it will either fix itself, or your just stuck with it until it fixes itself, sometimes the world will appear like that for a second but stop immediately. I never realized it was a glitch but this is pretty cool seeing how bad it is in Java edition 😟
That's a classic lighting error that's plagued all versions of Minecraft since the beginning, not sure this is related.
You need to mess with the game files to get this "glitch" in java, and you cant get this randomly

@@eddie_3xists The video is not a normally happening glitch either, Squiddo just set the gamma value extremely low which means light is... broken.
Same I had this problem where an area doesn't light up and I need to put torches in that area to fix it

This reminds me of Dark mode in “A Hat in Time.”
Near the beginning where you thought you saw a player, I'm pretty sure that was a player. It's arms were swinging, like the player's idle animation, no other mobs do that, and it looked like it had the Cow next to it on a lead. EDIT: Also, the cow looked up at it

I think that actually was a player. Note how it had the cow on a leash. Only other thing it could be is a Wandering Trader, but those were not the right shapes

When the darkness and a house come together juuuuuust right, it looks like a haunted house
I believe the reason why the light is consumed. Is because of the fact that. The game is having a hard time updating the lighting around you as. . Well. It's trying to load lighting that you can't see. So as the game detects "Hey! There's incorrect lighting." It begins to rapidly consume the light. Which is why the light slowly faded. And it is also why torches only create one block of light now. It's because the game has now fully updated the lighting system to what it "Should" be after seeing your lighting settings.
