Since I've shifted over to a new schedule (look in the description), I'm uploading one video a day this week to keep from overloading you guys in the transition.
Thomas Gerald naw u still get morning wood so long as you consistently have orgasms and sustain a healthy sex life and also maintain high testosterone levels. I loat my morning wood around 25 and started getting really depressed i saw an emdochrononologiat n he explained all this to me n prescribed me testosternone n now i have moening wood n also will punch anyobe that looks at me for too long
They drastically reduced the amount of free wild magic available in the universe, they didn't eliminate it entirely. Because magic is an aspect of Chaos.
So in my head cannon, after the the guardians collected all the mystical energies to make the starhart I always just assumed that they collected what was available at the time they didn't collect the source of the mystical energy so after they collected what they got mystical energy began to essentially reproduce itself throughout the cosmos.
Rob; I appreciate videos like this which explain concepts that regular readers might find extremely basic. There is a ton of history for most characters and even for characters which I am familiar with I appreciate the refresher on how or why things ended up the way they did. For characters I'm not familiar with; videos like this give me further information to bolster the other videos about that character or concept thus enhancing my understanding and enjoyment of the character and your video. Thank you and your team for the hard work in putting out the videos; it's a highlight of my day to watch them even though I will occasionally not watch for a day or two so I can binge watch several in a row.
the most recent Alan Scott origin was the young alan version in New 52 Earth 2, instead of being imbued with power by the starheart, the green flame that gave him power was actually the primordial spirit of the Earth "the green" he's more of a plant-energy manipulator now
Ok, I will probably cop a bit of hate for this but that's ok. I have always liked Hal but I love Kyle and persoanlly think he was the best GL. His character/humor and his god damn constructs. I love the fact that he was an artist and it always showed through what he created. I liked Hal and Barry's relationship but Kyle and Wally together was just so much better (I might be biased though because Wally is my second favorite superhero). My bad, most likely not the right vid for me to say this on but I needed to get it off my chest lol. Great vid as always Rob, thanks again! P.S.had a huge crush on Jade for a while when I was younger hahaha...
Kyle is the most creative and has the most heart. Hal is just the strongest and has the most willpower of them all. It's been proven millions of times.
And you could take out the entire pre-Parallax Green Lantern Corps and Alan Scott with a pencil. Yes that was in the big bang theory. When I first watched that show I had NO IDEA that the Golden Age GL was so different. You've taught me a lot of things, Rob.
Make sense to me as the Guardians of the universe gather up and sealed all the magic they could at the time. Thus for a period the universe (what they thought was the entire thing but really just the parts known to them) had nearly no magic. The other parts they did not know however retained their magic and basically just spread across the universe again. Judging from how much time past between when they tried this to when character like Zatanna and others started appearing. Though interesting enough this could be used as a reason as to why Superman is so weak against magic. Krypton could have been in the area of the universe that had all magic removed from it thus anything and anyone that is from that section of it would be weak to magic all thanks to the Guardians of the universe
Or maybe because superman and his race are mortal like most humans who are susceptible to magic. The idea of having a weakness to magic is because of the lack of exposure or connection to it. Take it for example, superman is generally stronger than wonder woman, however wonder woman is more resistant to hellfire than superman. Why? because she is a magical being, a child of an entity (Zeus) with immense magical power, but that doesnt mean she is immune to such. Well this is my explanation so DISCLAIMER
Richard Sejour dude wtf r u talkin abt... Magic in marvel just comes from some great unexplored dimension or domain to which all these magical heroes or villains take their powers from. In some media, magic is just unexplainable science for marvel, doesnt that just ruin the concept of divinity and magic since it's supposed to polarize science. However in dc magic and science do interconnect yet they are two different concepts in its cosmology. Have u even read Swamp Thing, Hellblazer, Dr Fate Sandman, or Lucifer, magic is well defined here and even interconnects them with other concepts. Take it for swamp thing, he is a being powered by The Green, the plant kingdom of thr whole cosmos may it be of science or magic. Even in Dc's creation story, magic is part of creation, Lucifer and Michael's demiurgic powers where used by god as a catalysts for creation. So Dc does interconnect and weave mythos and concepts together to its whole cosmos
@Richard Sejour Thats how it is with comics. DC tries to keep things like cosmology simple, and in doing so those same things hardly get any explanation. Marvel, on the other hand, tries to out-do itself time and time again and in doing so things hardly make any sense. While DC oversimplifies, Marvel overcomplicates
Batman didn't get a new origin. His origin was always his parents being killed. I'm pretty sure it was his training that was the new thing. No one had seen that before.
In the New 52 Earth 2 series Alan Scott's power draws from the Green, the same source of power as the Swamp Thing. This helps in the explaining of why it has a weakness to wood as the Green would want a power source it was, in itself, immune to. In a nice twist Solomon Grundy was connected to the Grey in that story line as well. I personally hope they keep this explanation while maybe merging it a bit with the Star Heart
The rot world crossover was amazing i loved animal man and swamp thing but that takes place in earth 1.Does new 52 Alan scott have a weakness to wood? I haven't seen it and I've read some of the earth 2 comics
Hey Rob, I know it's more work for you but what would be really awesome is if you put a list of suggested reading or issues referenced in your vids. I've had an over 10 year hiatus of collecting and a couple of your videos got me interested in picking up some of the Spider-man and Wonder Woman titles. Having the issues would have helped. But anyways, great videos! Keep em coming
WHAT IF...when it's FINALLY confirmed that Dr. Manhattan is responsible for all the craziness with the DCU, it's also revealed that he's got Superboy Prime as a SECRET WEAPON...?
How in the hell would they beat the two of them? It's difficult enough to imagine them beating Manhattan alone, the dude can basically just remake the whole damn universe on a whim. Superboy Prime would just be overkill.
Great video, always look forward to your uploads.Isn't the origin of the new 52 alan scott different from this.In that his energy is derived from the Earth or something.I don't remember correctly but it had something to do with him being part of the green? Could u do a video explaining the Earth 2 of new 52 and rebirth.
Dawnarrow if you read Stan Lee's Just Imagine stories where he was brought in to do one shots of recreating the most famous DC heroes w no restrictions but they can do what the classic character could. the how and appearance left up to him. Green Lantern took his power from the world tree of Norse mythology. that inspired this new 52 origin. his son Todd being gay ( Obsidian) inspired the rest. BTW the original Harlequin ( not 90s fox inspired) was the mother to Jenny-Lynn (Jade) & Todd Scott. a reformed villain who only committed crimes to gain His ( Alan) attention .
@@JunKurosu it's garbage honestly. The whole JSA was garbage. It worked as an alternate universe but they ruined main universe Alan Scott by bringing in certain character traits from the earth 2 version.
There's an epic storyline with Alan scott that's reminiscent of his Kingdom Come version that takes place shortly before flashpoint that i think you need to check out and cover. Also, I still want you to cover the recent Earth 2 and its sequels, World's end and Society. Even though it means you would have to delve into Convergence since, in my opinion, its really an Earth 2 story
Actually, DC elaborated on the retcon described above when they first used it. In China nearly 2,000 years ago was a dragoniod Green Lantern named Yalan Gur. Nearly killed due to the yellow weakness the Guardians removed it and he promptly went power mad taking over a large part of China and the Guardians instituted a new weakness: Wood. This change resulted in Yalan Gur being mortally wounded. In desperation he merged with his battery which in turn merged with the Starheart.
I thought crisis was a bad call, at last for me, I always enjoyed the JLA/JSA crossovers. I was fascinated with the storyline of 2 Earths and a silver age and golden age version of Green Lantern etc
Rob/ComicsExplained, you may not be aware of this but you just covered the origin of Ion the entity of willpower in the DC Universe and one of the main sources of a modern Green Lanterns powers

So was Earth 2 Batman never part of the Justice Society? They didn't really do a different Batman, did they? They just eventually killed off Earth 2 Batman. And then killed off the multiverse before it came back.
can you make a couple videos describing each lantern corps and their powers/leaders/history? If you have already please point me in that direction haha

Easily my favorite Lantern. Alan Scott with the Starheart is easily one of the most powerful characters.
Starheart is the best thing, traveling around DC Rebirth right now!
S3xyDante explain
S3xyDante nice name
So I guess Alan Scott is weak every morning?
For a few minutes, anyway.
JB Gimena lol
JB Gimena not at his age

"He used his powers for basic stuff, like moving objects or putting out flames."
So, he uses his powers in more interesting ways than Hal Jordan?
Since when has Hal Jordan not done that? People just like to hate on Hal because he is the most popular.
@@t-rex4622True, but also Hal is hella uncreative with his power usage
Rob has said "Alan Scott" about as much as "The Weekly Pull" chat does.
They drastically reduced the amount of free wild magic available in the universe, they didn't eliminate it entirely. Because magic is an aspect of Chaos.
In the new 52, Alan Scott's origin is that he was chosen as the avatar of the green.
starheart kinda sounds like a carebear villain turned good.... staaaaaaaarheaaaart
So in my head cannon, after the the guardians collected all the mystical energies to make the starhart I always just assumed that they collected what was available at the time they didn't collect the source of the mystical energy so after they collected what they got mystical energy began to essentially reproduce itself throughout the cosmos.

he is still less complicated than dona troy.

I want Alan Scott back for DC rebirth. But the origin should be more coherent.
YESSS, ive been waiting for a Alan Scott explained

You showed a comic page where the Guardians made Alan Scott their kind of Green Lantern and I wanna read that! Is it a one-off?

So close to 1 mil rob! You deserve it man!!
cool. I've read a lot of "modern" GL comics, but I did not know about the Star Heart. Thanks!

so now Kyle Rayner can kill Superman? him being weak to magic and such?
He can create artificial Kyrptonite as well
Disposable_Hero Not really they took that out
I'd say that's debatable.
Do a what if Batman inherited the Star Heart...

Do Allan Scotts origin (Golden age Green Lantern)
you forgot the post crisis origin for Alan had yulan gar's ring. my favorite is new 52 earth two.
Kyle Rayner best Lantern ever!
When they said the most powerful Green Lantern, I did thought of Kyle Rayner because of the Starheart hence two powers inside him..however, not much feats has been shown by him...
Yo man can get into the Kirby 4th World stories? with the major villian being Darkseid in the JL movies it would be great to hear more about that whole story.
To me Alan Scott is the best followed by Guy Gardner. Both are more layered and vulnerable characters and use the rings distinctly and emotively.
They made Raynor a virtual Superman, who I find to be incredibly boring and Hal Jordan has always been a dull character propped up by a great nemesis in Sinestro
And John Stewart?
I feel Hal Jordan is stronger as he literally became the embodiment of will he forged his own ring
ZegetaX1 but then kyle became the White lantern, with the ability to bring people and even planets back to life
Willam Webb that's fair I mean green lantern to green lantern
ZegetaX1 ah fair enough
also Kyle became ion, that's just a little bit more op than creating your own ring
loved it great explanation sit
Sup rob you are awesome and i love whar you do,also what do you think of the current X men comics?
Kyle > Hal
Man I'm begging u do a Kyle rayner explained video
I liked the sentinel storyline where he didn't are and the flame.
very interesting video very informative
I believe that the explanation for why there's still magic is that the guardians gathered all the random/untethered magic not all the magic
It also could have been only all of the magic the KNEW of or existed at the time.
