    Hey man! You're doing an awesome job. The views dont even nearly mirror your skills and efford you put into your videos. Keep the good work up and I am sure you will have a great future!
    Also, you have like te best, most simple and easiest tutorials to follow along which is really helpful since so many tutorials are like "do this and that and it'll work" but with the shapes, colors and concepts you're creating its a thing for everybody. THANK YOU

    I've watched this one over and over again to absorb it all : D There are so much to learn! The color palette looks amazing, the composition is refreshing, and of course, the story element gives more depth to the whole picture. Your explanation is simple and clear so it's easy to understand. I feel like I'm repeating the same thing again and again in every video I watched from you, but I honestly think your tutorials are all great. I have to say Victor, you're such an amazing teacher! XD Environment has been my nightmare but after watching your videos I feel like I'm slowly improving. Thank you so much for these great videos!

      Whoa! missed your comment DuDu! How's it going! Thank you so much, glad you're practicing and improving on your environment work. For me characters are tough, but I still kind of hesitate to practice them, unfortunately. I am working towards the goal of creating character-driven art as well, maybe post some videos too later on, still rusty on character work though. Thanks again for dropping by DuDu!

    One thing I would like to see is comments about why you’re choosing certain brushes as you go. Like “I’m using this brush with many dots to add rexture, I’m using this long brush because it provides a straight edge for the side of the building etc”. As I was typing this I noticed your pinned comment about your most used brushes. I’ll check that out. Thanks

    Really great video! The edger Payne book you recommended is amazing.
    Would love a video on how you would paint maybe a military vehicle, or other mechanical type objects. I've read through Scott's robertson how to draw book and have a firm grasp on perspective but don't necessarily want to do a major perspective intense drawing just to paint over it?
    Maybe a video on painting vehicles could be nice :)
    Thanks for the great content

      @VictorStaris  3 роки тому

      Hey Drake how's it going! So cool that you checked Payne's book, its really nice, glad you like it.
      Oh man, I should probably practice myself before tackling some military vehicles, especially drawing them :D Usually when I want to do those, I sculpt it or model a base in 3D then paint on top of it. That's like a tested workflow for me. But for personal stuff, yeah I should definitely practice just plain drawing more for sure, and maybe make a vid in the future as well.

    I love the way you paint Victor. Can you show us a way to paint light so that one may create 2 time of day variants (day and night)
    from 1 painting?

    • @VictorStaris
      @VictorStaris  3 роки тому +2

      Hey Mark, thank you so much! Oh yeah, there is definitely a workflow for this, I think I used it once some time ago. You basically paint with local colour mostly, then play with adjustments layers(Darken, Lighten, and so on) Final step would be to paint on top of the adjusted image according to your lighting scenario.
      I will try to implement somehow this in a future video.

    Great video again Victor! May i ask for an insight on how to do shape design/good silhouettes? It's the hardest part in the work flow >~

    • @VictorStaris
      @VictorStaris  3 роки тому

      Hey Eliza, how are you! Yeah interesting topic, actually in retrospect I could make the shapes better in this video :D Basically doing small thumbnails black and white with just 2 or 3 values focusing on shapes and silhouettes will help. Also maybe try breaking down some good visual movies, into simple 2-3 value compositions, pick most sticking and interesting stills, break them down into planes and simple shapes.

    Also, what brush do you use for sketching?

    • @VictorStaris
      @VictorStaris  3 роки тому

      Hey Derek, how's it going! Glad you like it! This time I used just a basic round brush with pressure opacity, it was just a bit squashed, so it looked oval.

    Hello Victor! Excellent work as usual. How do you choose colors for your work? I've tried but I can't find any colors that match with each other.

    • @VictorStaris
      @VictorStaris  3 роки тому

      Hey there, Thanks for watching! Yeah I get it, it can be problematic sometimes, first thing I would say is to prepare a mood board with references, like colour ideas, textures and so on. So before you proceed with your image you already have a starting point. But lets say you want to use colour right away and you don't have any refs, for inspiration. There a few colour schemes that work, like a monochromatic approach, when using tones and shades from the same colour family. Another one is analogous scheme, when you look at the colour wheel you pick neighbouring colour segments. Ant there are many more like, complementary, triadic and so on. But first of all make sure your values work well, and colour will surely work too.

  • @valentinaquere3294
    @valentinaquere3294 2 роки тому

    This is crazy! Looks really great and the colors are matching so well. Also, loving your comments, it really helps!
    I just have a question, I feel like your brush is kinda tilting if that makes sense without you tilting it manually... Like some brushes doesn't always stay in the same position when you paint with them even tho it's the same brush, how do you do that :o
    Sorry for my bad explanation, also sorry if my question might sound stupid, I'm quite new on photoshop, trying to learn as much as I can

    • @VictorStaris
      @VictorStaris  2 роки тому

      Thank you Valentina! You are totally right, in photoshop you can have certain settings that allow you to rotate the brush ( esp useful for flat brushes ). So the most basic setting and available for all the tablets, is the tilt function. In photoshop, press F5 and you will see the brush settings. Then go to Shape Dynamics, and Angle Jitter it's usually off. Turn it to tilt, and now you can rotate the brush tip, according to the tilt of you stylus. Another option is to purchase the ArtPen from Wacom, its sold separately from wacom tablets, and it allows to rotate the brush by rotating the pen. Hope this helps!

    I don’t know buddy, seems odd that your focal point is a blank bit of wall while the scaffolding and machinery that you call the focal point is buried in ambient occlusion. I would of pulled some of the light ochre across the scaffolding and machinery to up the contrast and help the eye travel there. Overall I really like the format of your lesson and video but yeah, the composition is pretty average. Your colours are nice and the atmospheric perspective is well handled. Good luck with it, you should do well :)
