Yesterday, while driving on Columbus Ave, NYC I heard this song emanate from a parked yellow cab. I had to pull over and thank him for bringing Tuku's memory back to life. At the end of the conversation we both had tears in our eyes. Such is his legacy!

May 2022 and I'm still in love with this classic. I'm Zambian and i loved this song before knowing it's meaning. I have been fortunate enough to have a Zimbabwean friend who lives here in Lusaka and he explained to me what the song talks about. I fell in love with it even more. RIP to this African son. Legacy lives on
This song reminds me of my childhood, my mom used to play this song and it takes me to Zim. Even if I have never been there, may his amazing soul Rest In Peace 🇿🇦
```Oliver Mtukudzi what a legend💔. So young. I literally just boasted how much I love your music the other day. Grandma’s favorite....She always requested Todi at family functions. All smiles. Sometimes your music made me cry because it makes me miss my grandmother so much. Thank you for all the music that takes me back home every time. And for making Africa sing and dance in harmony🌍♥️ I’ll always remember the video of your gesture to newly weds last year. We want legends to live forever.....Rest in the power of the Lord. I wish I took the opportunity to see you in person. Life is so short. My favorites will always be Neria, Mambo, Zvese Zvangu, Wake Up, Ndakuvara, Raki & Hatidi Hondo 🎵🎶#OliverMtukudzi #LegendofAfrica```
This song reminds me of when our family would take our drives down to Venda from Johannesburg and my father would play Oliver Mtukudzi's songs. This song was the first song that I felt touch my inner most. I think it's the organic sound of his instrumentals and his voice, you just feel so connected to this life and everything that connects us to it. Thank you for blessing us Mr Mtukudzi, your legacy lives on!
We've lost icon of Jazz music, Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 Musician Oliver Mtukudzi. We as The House Of Pain SA send our deep sympathy to the family,fans & close as well as to the music industry.😥😥😥 His music made Africa & the world to understand the Zimbabwean culture. #ripolivermtukudzi #jazzmusic #zimbabwe #southafrica #olivermtukudzi
I remember this song from a Putumayo DVD my dad bought in 2004 probably and I remember this song with sadness because of the story represented by the music videos and you can preceive the sadness on the singer’s voice too. I’m mexican living in Mexico and it’s incredible I listened to a Zimbabwe legend according to so many comments here :)
He is saying: "Am hurt Tamming the young cow hurts me I thought the young cow would be as good and easy as it elder cows I thought it would be useful like its elder one for ploughing in the field But its most unlikely the same as its elder l coveted it in the grassing lands assuming it would be of use to us But its not It hurts me to tamme it Tell my wife that the young cow hurts me am hurt"
Driving on the high of the Great North Road in Zambia with 4 passengers...all we could all do is say "we never really got what he was saying, but the music spoke to us".
What a loss😓 this man dedicated his life to give us wisdom in such an artistic way. when i was young I was sure the song is about a calf. Now that im older I realised that the song is about habits. You have a habit in control for a period of time before it has control of you. What a beautiful message 🇿🇼
All of us in America are African when you trace it all back. All evidence points to every human being alive on this planet today having origins from Africa. Regardless, this song is amazing whatever you call yourself.
Oliver's music transcends language. That's how you know he was a generational talent. You don't have to understand what he is saying fully to comperhend the beauty in his delivery. Its all in the feeling the song evokes. He may be gone but his legacy lives long in the feelings he made us all feel.
This song still rocks me and will do all my life, As a bar manager, this tune always rocks our Sunday jazz at work, I even play it for my buddies on our outties🎉❤😊 all the time , timeless. Greatness❤💯♥️
For last few months I having been singing this song, it has brought a lot of memories when I was still young. I love this song, I will always love the legend Oliver Mtukudzi 🙌🏾❤
It funny how people take the lyrics literally, its more a metaphor of how he tried to guide and invest into his Son's dreams but he later let him down by making wrong decision in life, basically the video does great explaining the meaning of the song.
Tuku music is not subject to any interpretation. U r the one who has the audacity to try and put him in a box. He never wanted that. Just enjoy and catch what u receive. I'm zimbabwean there r more than 10 metaphors in this one song.
I have seen Oliver perform many times - in Harare in the early years of Zimbabwe's independence, in Malawi and in Sydney, Australia. None of his songs are a good as this classic. The video tells a timeless story and the singing, instrumentals and dancing are first class. Thanks Oliver and the Black Spirits. Viva Zimbabwe.
A father is talking of how his son has gone wild /lost his values. This child forgot all his father's advise. The father expected this child to lead some day but unfortunately he has lost all values
By the minute my son finished to hear this tune for the first time, he put himself into learn how to play it. No need to mention that he loves it, even thogh he doesn't know what it says; I'd explained to him the lyrics which, by the way, I'd learn to sing along. Greetings from Guadalajara, Mexico.
Musica africana arabe en espanol
Llame a la madre de mis hijos;
Estoy lastimado
Me lastime durante el entrenamiento del buey
Llame a la madre de mis hijos ; Estoy lastimado
Me lastime durante el entrenamiento del buey
Pensé que este buey joven sería como los demas
Y sin embargo, ignoró a los mas viejos (ignoro sus buenos ejemplos)
Yo solía admirarlo , cuando se alimenta en los pastos Pensar que en el futuro me gustaria amanzarlo
Con la esperanza de que me ayudaria en el arado
Todo ha salido al revés,el joven bueyes me pateo
Todo ha salido mal, el joven buey me lastimo
