I heard a rendition on the radio and desired to relive the piece. Though not yet having listen to it in person I would enjoy being at such a performance. The conductor Monsieur Crudele helped ease this tune into with his light demeanor which gave the performance a buoyant springy feel which fit the composition as a lily pad does body of water. 6:14 the piccolo 8:35 the harp and woodwinds The woodwinds throughout were beautiful.
Wonderful video, beautiful recording, good interpretation! Also I find it interesting how this conductor conducts with such an ease and simplicity, but he gets good results. This is one of Debussy's last works, but with a structure adapted to the storyline, and so the form seems more free and erratic, almost like cartoon music. It doesn't have the grandeur of "La Mer", but it is also a masterpiece (of a different kind of course) and it is absolutely delightful. Thank you for posting!
