In Japan マッチング (matching) can refer to a dating app. The band Hanabie wrote the song Reiwa Matching Generation about modern dating. A dating app is something you might see if you check someone's cellphone. But I don't know.
I agree! That's how I read it too and believe that was the intent in the lyrics. I'll verify with my friends and teachers who are native speakers as well. I do my own translations and treat it as studying, but I also have native speakers (my friends and teachers) check my translation before I post these videos.
I think a more accurate translation of あいつめっちゃマッチングしてました would be "he had a lot of matches." shes saying that she looked at her boyfriends cellphone and saw that he had been using dating apps behind her back. Hence why shes angry and confused. Dating apps are called マッチングアプリ in Japanese, and マッチングする is used to refer to the act of using/ matching with people on dating apps.
100%!!! Thank you for the additional info. This is one of the cultural things I learned while doing this exercise. The dude is definitely in trouble with his girlfriend either way.🤣😆
Fun grindcore. Fun whatever it is. Captain Beefheart echos. Long live Otoboke Beaver. I just learned about them a few weeks ago, if I'd known, I would have gone to their Atlanta show.
@@anthrodance コメントがありがとうございます! I'm happy to hear that!!! While I'm not a teacher and simply a fellow student, I really enjoy sharing ways that I'm learning. I hope it's helpful. My main Kanji translation app is called JA Sensei. It's pretty much a digital textbook that has been a great resource over the years. After the next series of motivation videos, I'm planning to work on a new lyrics video when I return from Japan
I think the term for a word that has repeating sounds is reduplication. Onomatopoeia means a word that imitates a natural sound, such as pop, boom, or bow-wow.
In English that is true, however in Japanese the official onomatopoeia list is much further expanded beyond the voice/sound (声・音) meanings (used in English and Japanese) to further include mimetic sets: 態 Condition/Appearance (like in ついつい for 'unconsciously doing something', 容 Form/Looks (like in のろのろ for 'moving slowly'), and 情 Feelings/Emotions (like in あわあわ for 'losing track of time') just to name a very small sampling. In lessons, we go over dozens and dozens of these that go beyond the natural sound imitations and I learned it's actually part of everyday natural speech much further beyond how we use in English. We've gone over hundreds of these in lessons, and have barely scratched the surface it seems...I have a really long way to go to become proficient in just that segment of the language. Learning the onomatopoeia in Japanese is a language adventure in itself and super fun. :-D
Brah, i learned japanese because of a band called Show Ya. My level is pretty good, its never a regret to learn another language, but it still feels like i regret it. Its useless for me, i barely use it out of japan, except for the media. It has given me a lot of good conversations, lots of concerts, alcohol and even friends in japan 😂 and thats about it. Just a rant because if you dont plan to work in japan, maybe its not worth learning. It also took me like 10 years to get good at it. 😂
In my regular life, I'm an engineer in the rail industry - so the 2 languages I study can be useful for my career too. I previously studied German, but study Japanese now because I'm a martial artist and travel to Okinawa and mainland Japan for training. The additional benefit of finding great music from over there plus meeting people has been so rewarding as well, since I go to Japan every year for several activities now ;-) Dude, I've never heard them but have heard of Show Ya...I'm going to check it out today! Thanks for the recommendation.
Another great Japanese pinkish band that is one of my favourites is BANSHIMOKU. They haven’t got a bad song. So much variety in their writing and,,, the singers voice, WOW 😮 New subscriber here, Hi 👋 🇦🇺🤘
@@centurybeta2112so happy to pass this band to you. I’m heading to Japan in September and I really really hope to see them live, I know that’s a big ask but if not just any local band live would be a bonus 👍🇦🇺🤟 Oh, and I have plenty of other fantastic Japanese band suggestions I can share at some point, I started listening to the Japanese rock-punk-metal scene around 7 years ago and haven’t looked back 😂
Awww, I would love to see this band live too, but the stars might not align for it. I'm heading there in June/July with plans to see several bands live including BAND-MAID. I hope you have a blast!!!!
@@centurybeta2112 It’s a long standing dream of mine to see Band Maid, sure hope you get to see them. I’d also be interested to hear how easy it is to purchase tickets to a show in Japan, all the bands I’ve searched for their schedules was all in Japanese. Bit daunting for me. Do you know of an English gig guide?
BTW, maybe you know by now but there is a extension for firefox that translates the kanji just by puttin your cursor over the word. It helps a lot, but maybe if yu are starting i wouldnt recommend as you can become lazy and stop absorbing kanjis.
I know several people that use the browser extensions. I've been trying to avoid those for the purpose of immersion, but it could definitely be useful. For now, I just research when curiosity hits me at various points.
Love Otoboke Beaver.
YESSSSSSSS!!!!! I really want to see them live again! They had so much great positive energy!😎🎶🎶🎶
Drummer is amazing
She really is!!!! What a great band to see live too!

I'm a fan. And I'm watching Shogun.
I just started watching this too! What a cool series. I actually plan to re-watch it a second time like I did with Game of Thrones.
