Great Video, here is a tip for if they get that bald spot. Dig the plant up, make the hole bigger then plant deeper only exposing the fresh green growth. The following year you will get all those buried branches rooting. You can then plant them all over the place. Keep them prune as you say in the video. So no need to chuck out plants. We have about 60 plants in a patch just from one in 5 years.

1stBumbleBeeMaster So I shouldn't cut the brown branches?? Winter my Heather became just brown branches I thought it didn't tolerate winter and was about to dog them up and buy something else...then 3 weeks ago new growth started around the brown branches. But my mom got to them before I could research. She trimmed all the brown branches down to same size of new growth.... What do I do?

I'm not sure which plant you mean, but Heaths are of the genus Erica and Heathers are of the genus Calluna.
