I built an Invader in 1958, when I was 10. My mum melted down a pewter tea pot for the nose weight. We took the Invader to the local park to fly her. I didn't know which way round to put the wing on, and said to my mum that I thought the sharp edge of the wing should face forward. I put the wing on back to front with the TE facing in to direction of flight, and she flew beautifully.
Some lovely nostalgia from my teen years. Mine never flew as well as yours and my Impala flew like an elephant, or maybe it was just that the guy holding the box and twiddling the sticks was a crap pilot ;). And please thank the person doing the 'real' work with the camera :) cheers.
wonderful You present mostly always good music for good films of Your perfect flying. I myself have much experience flying in alpine regions, which is often difficult esp. up in the mountains and in tubulent wind conditions in the valleys. But I think, that I need some training to fly in the steady winds of the coastline in cornwall .
So relaxing to watch. This one seems to have gone farther away from the cliff and closer to the water than others - I know little about gliding, but how far away from the cliff can the plane go before getting out of the updraft? I'd be a nervous Nellie afraid of losing it into the water!
That’s a hard question to answer because every slope is different and conditions on any specific day vary. Like you say, the strongest lift is always just off the slope and you can feel it dropping off the further out you fly. But the wind tends to be very consistent at the coast so you can fly out without the fear of the wind speed suddenly dropping off. After a while you get confident at flying below you and know it will always come back up. I generally don’t fly too far away from the slope as I get more worried about going out of range, than I do about loosing lift.
@@SlopeRCGliders hello, is it possible to share on Outerzone the tail design? or to give some detail about the tail size (maybe related to the elevators or other reference thats on the KK plans)? many thanks.
I downloaded the plans for free off the Outerzone website. But doubled the size and changed the tail design. But other than that, it’s a standard Kiel Kraft Invader.
joe woodchuck I have a large format printer, so can print out sacrificial plans. Then use pritt-stick to tack the paper to the balsa, and a fine tooth bandsaw to cut it out.
@@SlopeRCGliders Thanks very much John. I hadnt thought of making a sacrificial copy. It doesnt look like we have that exact product here except for bulk Amazon purchases, but from the descriptions i think i can find an equivalent among our brands of glue sticks. Im also going to try rubber cement used for graphic arts and sold in many places. Thanks again!
I get so distraught when I see you struggling in such appalling conditions in that nasty Slave orientated sweat shop. Breaks my heart to see you in such distress.
your launches are getting more rediculous every time I watch your channel... about setting it into the air, holding it on a wingtip. I'm afraid of the day you open the trunk of your car and it starts soaring out by itself.

Looks like my old Amigo II. I loved that thing....
Hand Launching on the wingtip, great wing loading. That cliff has so much lift you could fly a Doug fir plank there.
Beautiful, captivating, and peaceful, thank you!

Great they just keep coming thank you
Absolutely majestic. Thanks for the wonderful videos.

Do you ever crash or have to go down to the beach? You make this look so easy and graceful.
hanger9uk thank you. I’ve not lost any down the hill yet. I quite often have the odd small crash!
Your camera man is really good too.
Walter 1408 thank you. It’s my wife filming

It’s just rudder and elevator control. No ailerons.
Very good, my friend. Go to try make one. Thank you...
I don't recall this plane so I'm guessing it's new. How do you transfer the ribs from paper to balsa?

What is the song?
darklyte24 I’ll have to look it up. I downloaded all my music from the UA-cam audio library so there are no copyright issues,
6-8 oz/sq ft..........that's my guess........not a lot of energy left on the top of those tight loops.......
Would love to see a Pterodactylus!
