Started to fish the St.Joe when I was 16, now I'm 64. Seen alot of changes over the years. Never been disappointed, respect the river and fish so more people can enjoy it.
That is awesome - I just started within the past 5 years. Really is an amazing place...fingers crossed the heat wave, low water and fires won't damage the fishery too much. Cheers!
You are posting some great videos man - thanks for taking the time to share with us those fantastic hidden gems. Keep up the good work - your UA-cam channel will continue to grow !!!
The Joe has been one of my favorite rivers to fish since the early 80's. I have seen changes but like Bill said if we respect the river and the fishery everyone can enjoy it..
Thank you! Normally I would suggest the Saint Joe River and some of it's small tributaries. From what I understand (from a local guide) the river system is in trouble with low water, warm temps and the fires. I would reach out to the local fly shop in Avery for some advise. Good luck! Cheers!
Hey Dan I am heading out to the Joe’s on the 10th of august and I don’t have any reservations for a camping place. Any recommendations where to camp around that time and a spot by the river to fish?
That’s exciting! All of the campgrounds are first come first serve. I would drive up to Avery and head up river from there. Try Turner flats or Tin Can - A very good spot for fishing is up and down from the Walkbridge. There are also unincorporated campsites along the river if the campgrounds are full. Good luck and let me know how you do!
Hey Dan, I was at the same spot about a week after you. The fishing was decent during the day, but right around 8pm it was just nuts with 10-20 fish constantly rising within casting distance. Did you fish the evenings too? Was it too dark to film?
Awesome! That spot is sooooo good! (shhhhhh) ;) I did fish the area right up to dusk...I was balancing fishing and filming - I took some time just for myself and stepson to enjoy fly fishing without the distraction during our 5 day trip (which as awesome). Cheers!
Nope - it's not a repost. It is the long format version of the trip with a ton of unseen footage. I generally post an 5-8 minute video for entertainment...then a longer format video for those that want a longer experience. Be well and cheers!
