In this video, I not only share general advice but also specific strategies tailored for those new to the process. Writing a research proposal can seem daunting at first. It's not just about stating your intentions but engaging your audience, be it a professor or a potential funding body.
I discuss everything from how to generate exciting ideas based on examples from my own academic journey, to fine-tuning these ideas into a well-structured document. For instance, I mention how I used online tools to analyze the works of prominent scholars to shape proposals that resonate with their ongoing projects. This method turns a standard research proposal example into a tailored, persuasive argument that highlights how your work aligns with existing research.
I also explain how connecting emotionally with the reviewers can elevate your proposal from a mere document to a compelling story. This narrative technique is especially crucial when aiming to secure funding or approval for your project. By weaving facts with strategic emotional appeals, your proposal becomes more than just an academic requirement; it becomes a narrative that people want to support.
For undergraduates just starting on this path, I provide specific guidance on how to write a research proposal for undergraduate level. This includes simplifying complex ideas and focusing on what is most impactful for beginning researchers. The goal is to demystify the process and make it accessible, reducing the anxiety that often comes with academic writing.

Hi! This is exactly what I did in my last proposal. And it worked!
The tips on reverse reading truly help...it help me to clean up key areas that is illogical.
I am applying for a doctoral project. You just gave me a couple of good ideas. Thank you, Andy!
Omg Andy, you are again right on time to what I need! thanks for all the work!
PhD interview this morning ... phew, thank you for the pep talk!
I love your T-shirts!
I was looking forward to getting this from you, please make a video on the study or research plan also?
This was very useful, thank you! Will the podcast be returning this year? I was able to find episodes on Spotify, but there is no content after Jan 2021
i hope you can do some paraphrasing tips to do manually on ai answers( to avoid detection)
Nice video. A good research proposal can lead to lucrative grants and a successful academic career.
Hi do you do the apply process for the phd?!
Hi Sir, after doing MSc IT in Business Data Analytics from Hungary. Which PhD options are available in Europe or elsewhere in the world?
PLEASE DO A VIDEO ON FULL PROFESSORS WHO TAKE FIRST-AUTHORSHIPS IN PHD AND POSTDOC STUDENTS' WORK. THIS IS A HUGE SCAM IN ACADEMIA AND RESEARCH WHICH IS TOTALLY HUSHED UP AND UNADDRESSED.
Just Submit the paper yourself, problem solved, did it all the time
It is not about individual submission. It is about the larger scam. Further, depending on the individual and personalized PhD/postdoc context, some scholars might be unable/uncertain to submit themselves.
The students should resist this. Order of authorship should be based on contribution. Check out people’s papers in Google scholar and author order before joining them for PhD
In certain circumstances (abusive environments / countries where the system is more broken), students risk losing recommendation letter and other retaliations from their advisor if they simply submit the paper themselves. There's hardly any way for the students to stand up for themselves once they get into this type of situation, but there should be more awareness on this issue so that people can know what to avoid.
@@Evelyn-oy4ue Exactly. In fact, there has been such assertions, albeit not directly, emphasizing that the PhD you'll eventually earn is nothing. My (supervisor's) recommendation would be everything for you in the future. @DrAndyStapleton should do a video on this hushed up and ignored academic and research scam to raise awareness about it.
what about finding a novel idea for a possible marine curie postdoc project which is not indeed related to your PhD but also would be a good start to work in academia later on but also very novel and innovative so that it would be loved by host institute and the reviewing committee?
loved and extremely helpful. thank u so much Andy. As always simple and to the point
My chat gtp don't do this
Just love the 🌈 🌈🌈’s
Ok can u do a favor
Just test take texts from chat gpt n paragraphs in quillbot and then to Turnitin
Well, shame i JUST submitted my disso before watching this vid
Basically you have to sell your proposal to these stakeholders. It's no different than a business pitch. If you've worked long enough, you'll automatically know how to do this.
you speak too fastly. plz speak slow to understand you
