Marina Vendrell is the teenage daughter of the family who owned the House before it spread across the plane. She met Valgavoth in the basement, befriended him, and inadvertently allowed him to ascend by feeding him her school bullies. In exchange, she gets to safely navigate the House, living in a bubble of false reality where everything is fine.
Look everyone needs a friend. And morality pet. Marina just happens to be Val's lol.
Interesting, Marina Vendrell sounds like a typical Catalan name
For those playing the "WHEN DID THAT BECOME A THING?" Game at home, the first cycle of Leylines was in Guildpact. Which means it predates Zendikar by 15 sets or nearly 4 years. Yes, Leyline of the Void is older than some incoming players.
They also haven't been gone that long, they were in the recent return of Core sets.
@@Mordalon Umm, the last one was Core Set 2021, which actually came out in 2020.
If you don't think that was that long ago, you're probably old (I'm sorry).
@@Welverin Wilds of Eldraine was last fall. They were on the Enchanting Tales sheet.
@@tipulsar85 o.k., what's that got to do with core sets, which is what I was replying about?
@@Welverin 4-5 years isn't that long, that's still a "recent" set. I'm also referring to what Serge and Graham consider recent or a long time, and since they were also in M11, I was under the impression that was the "awhile" they were referring to. I even recall Graham making a similar comment about assuming the Leylines originated in a Core set when they came back in M20.
re: "why would you want to lock your own door", a lot of the doors - looks vaguely like about a quarter to a third of them, from a quick glance - have "when you unlock this door" effects and nothing else, so locking your own door is, in those cases, comparable to grabbing a sorcery out of your graveyard.
Also Eerie cares about Fully unlocking a room IIRC
Relevantly, Fear of Abduction has the "old" templating for temporary Enchanment-based removal. With an instant-speed flicker you'll get your own card back while permanently exiling your opponents creature AND temporarily exiling another creature.
It's still 6 mana (or 7 counting Ephemerate or similar) but it's effectively both a double removal spell and a flicker effect.
Alternatively the exile on your end is an additional cost to cast so if your Fear of Abduction is countered you get folded in half!
Plus make the both of you looking at James for an answer a gif lol
I mean, I like to think Omnivorous Flytrap has flavour mechanics, in that it greatly improves the fortunes of one or two people the more bodies are being composted to feed it
Need Serge on Azban enchantress with rooms. Azban Hotel.
Hell of a reference
Locking your doors also has the benefit of allowing you to re-trigger eerie.
Graham and Serge are also a nice duo to have :3
0:59 Well we now have a clue of when this was filmed.
I daresay Scrabbling Skullcrab is more for turning on delirium than as a dedicated offensive mill piece, since triggering on Eerie and only milling two make it quite a lot worse than the go-to mill crabs. But it's nice that they're filling out the mill-crab megacycle, I guess.
Fist of Suns as a LEYLINE?! GET IN MY DECK!
I love Phenomenon Investigators as an X-Files, and every time it's played, I will want to believe
You would want to lock your doors so you can unlock them again, for the ones that I have a one time effect.
Did anyone else hear Graham say he was wearing a dark red shirt & immediately think "no you're not. That's purple."
A great name for the viewers from this set would be Cynical Loners. Maybe too mean.
Inti is also in Standard since it's just in Lost Caverns, so FOMO and it can work well together there.
Heck yes! Collector boostie crack a packs be back!
Serge: "Don't test me."
Me: OH GOD EVIL SERGE IS REAL
Wait until Magic makes Crab Rave card.
Phenomenon do doo de doo do ♪
Also FOMO is yet another card you can slap a Helm of the Host on to take an arbitrary number of combat steps, but with the catch that you'll start chewing through your entire library as you do, which in a world where WAR Jace lets you passively win by drawing out your deck can be a good thing. (Or just thin it down while cycling into your lab maniac/thoracle then stop attacking)
Thank you for this.
Just decided wither to go to prerelease.
Cool pack, but what was the token? 😮

"Fear of Missing Out" is such an absolutely terrible name for a card. It tells you literally nothing about what the card does. Just, awful.
That portrait art, much like the MH3 side portrait art style is horrible, not a fan.
3:57 I'm not a fan of this foiling treatment, that green card looks almost black. It could be the lighting too.
