@22:45: One noteworthy thing about that comic not mentioned by Polish Dane is that the sliced Mexico ball has an avocado interior. As an American… yeah the smiling thing is pretty accurate. I personally hate making eye contact, smiling(makes my mouth feel very uncomfortable), and just generally talking to people. Here in America, I’m basically forced to hide that stuff because everyone is always talking so loud that it makes my ears hurt and smiling so much that it makes me uncomfortable. Before someone in the replies ask, yes I have autism, yes I have adhd. This is not about either of those things, this is just about my personal experience. Both of my parents are introverted and supportive of me, so they might’ve taught me some of these things. My mother also lived and taught English in Germany for four years, and Germany is her second language, so she knows a few things about culture outside of America, and I was sort of raised on those ideals. The other theories are better, I believe, specifically the first one. The Civil War was absolutely a dark time in our country, and slavery is absolutely disgusting. I was born and raised in Kansas, and we are very honest about the Civil War in school. Kansas played a relatively major role during the Civil War, and we gained our statehood and basically immediately outlawed slavery. The same cannot be said for Missouri(disgusting state, they have a worse team than us and they’re stupid), a state that actively covers up the past. I lived in Missouri for 3 years and the Civil War was taught as “the State’s Right” and not the disgusting act of dehumanization that we were trying to stop. I am glad that I was taught the real thing by my parents. I believe America trying to cover up the confederate flag could be an allegory for this.
