that’s not only a newer chrysler 300 but you were sitting in one of the most luxurious examples of the 300. rhe john varvatos limited edition sedan a plaque was placed on top where the shifter is located giving its own designated number.
Ahh, very cool. Did not know that. Thank you.
Awesome video!! Thank u!!
Thanks Randy!
That's a hell of a place to put the power steering reservoir. They could have mounted it remotely so that it could be check during routine maintenance. That Snap On screwdriver failed to remove that connector. Was the pick a Snap On? Thanks for giving me a good laugh this morning. Great way to start the day!
lol, sadly I cannot tell a lie, it was a Snap On pick. ;)
For now…
Nice good job
Thank you! Cheers!
Hello again Jimmy
Thank you for another Great Video. Engineer's very rarely used, common sense. Again thank you
Glad you enjoyed it, Thank you George!
Awesome job bro fixing that vehicle. You are a very skilled mechanic. Why would Chrysler put a power steering pump there.
Thanks Andrew, sometimes I amazed at the stuff they come up with and wonder why. lol
Hi, I have this same car. And the fusibke is burning because the steering pump is turning the steering wheel completely to one side. I already replaced the pump but it's still the same!
On the Challenger, the two bolts toward the front of the vehicle are not accessible. There's a nut below that bolt that's can't be removed that will separate the main bracket from the front bracket so you can remove it from the vehicle.
Thank you.
Dealing with a2013 challenger.no power steering... purchased the car from a salvage yard..a friend of mine owns...will be useing this information contained in this great video.. thanks for posting..
👍👍😎💪💯
Thank you Don, hope it helps you out!
Same issue.. how'd u fix ur car.?
I need a mechanic like you. I’m going through a similar or maybe the same thing . I have a 2015 300. My steering wheel just sounds so bad now. I’m thinking it needs the power steering rack or the electric power steering pump motor. Parts are so expensive smh
Might have a leak, check the fluid level and use a flashlight to look around for it from the tank to the rack. Hope this helps.
Already installed 2 used power steering pump on 2013 300. And no fuse or any codes. I guess I will try the steering cluster module.
The best way would be to use a scan tool and see codes and data for the system. That way you can figure out what the system is lacking to operate properly.
hello and thanks for the amazing vid. I have the same issue with the power steering on a 13 dodge charger rt. it shows C212A-84. I didn't see it on your list of dtcs. could this issue be relative to the one you showed?
Let me check…
That code refers to voltage low at the module. There is a 50 amp fuse that powers it, so the fuse or a connection can be bad, or an internal module problem makes it think it is.
I’d check at the red wire going into it, a heavy wire, it should have battery voltage. Also check the ground, a black wire, since it can cause odd issues like this also. If they are good it does most likely have a bad module.
@@JimmyMakingitwork thanks. it was the wiring harness connecting to it
Hello jimmy i have a 2016 charger had rack replaced and power steering assist need service lights back on any suggestions??
If it's an electric/hydraulic design in the 2016 I'd check the fluid level and look at scan tool data to see if the desired and actual pressure are close. Also Sometimes just a steering angle learn needs to be done if it hasn't.
Sadly I've also seen defective parts a couple of times on them.
Hope this helps.
what was the issue?
Airbag Light and button stops work even the horn not working
or you got traction light only???
This one had multiple issues, but only wanted the steering repaired, which did fix other issues as well, but not all.
Why does it squeal so much when turning right after you put the new pump on? Mine does the same thing when I turn both in the air and on the ground and I don't wanna replace the pump if it's something else?
If the fluid level is ok it could be the belt.
one more question, do you need to program the control module? i purchased one used and install it, resolve all the problem with the steering buttons but now my steering is hard when i turn right, is ok when i turn left, just hard to right side. i guess if the pump is bad should be hard in both sides not only right?
They only require initialization. Might need to look at steering angle data and see what codes there might be.
I have the same problem with my 2016 I don’t know what to do
All you can do is look for leaks in the system, check the fluid level and fuses. After that it's likely a pump or rack problem. Might need to see a good mechanic nearby for ad diagnosis if you don't do your own repairs.
what is the hex size socket you used it to removed the steering wheel?
It has been a little while since I did this repair, so I'm not positive. I think it is a 21 or 22mm? Maybe someone will see the comments and correct me if I'm wrong.
My 2015 Cadillac cts power steering just stopped working after it rained. Not sure if water got in somewhere or a coincidence that something went out at the same time. Any tips on what to check?
I don’t see any leaks and don’t think the fuses are bad.
Sometimes the pumps can go bad, I'd check to see if the fluid is moving in the reservoir with the engine running. The level should also change slightly from engine off to running. If not the pump has likely gone out.
@@JimmyMakingitwork thanks so much!
Hi Jimmy.....watching your video to the 'bitter' end, you haven't told us the steering pump's problem!
I'm trying to investigate why my 2008 Peugeot has gone through 2 x pumps (electro hydraulic) one in 120K kms, the used replacemnt in about 50K kms. I'm stumped as to why the motors die, even though the fluid reservoir is correctly filled?
These motors are doing a lot of work, the duty cycle is high. Since electric motors have brushes and other components like bearings and wiring in them, they wear out and stop working eventually. Just like a window motor, starter motor or similar. If they short they'll blow fuses, if they go open. they'll simply stop turning and in that case a tap sometimes brings them back to life temporarily.
@@JimmyMakingitwork Thanks for your interest in my problem. I do think it's a loose live or ground wire (or both). Tanks again!
My steering wheel is stiff but drivable manually an showing exclamation fluids are full to top could this be my issue
Yes, it could be. If all the fuses are good I'd have it looked at so powers and grounds can be checked as well as codes to be sure.
A Jimmy adv makes some good mid sized sockets paul from england
Thanks Paul, I'll check them out!
Which launch scanner is that u have
I was using the Torque when this was filmed. I am currently using the Topdon Phoenix Lite 2.
Wish you lived by me need a good mechanic
Thanks for saying so.
Where are you located? I want you to work on my vehicles.
We are in Kissimmee, Florida.
Is it mandatory to use CHF 11s or can I use AS227 as well?
I wish I could say for sure, I'd stick with the recommended fluid, just in case. Too expensive if they aren't compatible.
Thanks for the adivce! I originally had the AS277 prestone brand installed and it would not work. I removed all that fluid out and install the CHF11S ($48 bottle) and everything worked perfect. Thanks Again! @@JimmyMakingitwork
Quick question, sorry to disturb u . What fluid did u use and how much ?
Chrysler has a Mopar fluid specifically for these systems. A version is available at the auto parts stores, like Napa or AutoZone though.
@@JimmyMakingitwork Thankx 👍👍
1st again cmon
Great way to start out a Friday!!! WINNA!
Can i ask , what was the cost of that repair. Parts / labor?
Man, I wish I could be certain, not usually involved in prices at the shop. I think it was about $700 or so parts and labor.
@@JimmyMakingitwork I paid 700 for the pump 😫
Hey jimmy what's ur ebay name
It’s wedjim.
Thanks Marc!!! :)
@@JimmyMakingitwork you are welcome sir!!
Thanks Marc werth
@@eddieespinal2546 you’re welcome
I did get A LOT from this video. Anyone want to buy A KIDNEY? Atleast i know how to fix it now. Thank you!
Haha, glad it helped Tim!
where is the DIAGNOSIS ????
The entire video from beginning to end. Scan data, checked fuses, power and ground, we discussed theory of operation, checked fluid level…Determined the motor ran, but the pump did not produce pressure using scan data. You may need to watch the video again?
What it's the name of the part Sr??
Steering pump motor?
