Fast Sony Camera Mode Changes With Memory Recall

- When shooing with most Sony cameras you don't have the ideal settings when switching from stills to video mode. The shutter is wrong and picture profile will be too.Don't waist your time fumbleing in the menu. You will just miss the shot! Instead try setting up custom settings in Memory Recall. Here is how to do this!

YOU ARE A GENIUS! I have been struggling to figure out how to use the memory function, and for a second there I was worried it didn't have it! THANK YOU!
Finally! A understandable tutorial on Sony memory recall....Great job Erik....
Glad to help Gary.
Thank you so so so so freaking much!!!! It could not figure this out and drove me crazy haha
Thank you! Quick, fast tutorial, and just what I was looking for!
this guy is a hero !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This is single handedly cure my confusion LoL! Thanks, Great video
Brilliant thankyou, i have been trying to figure this out.... on a A6400 or Rx100 wouldn't it be great if it was possible to assign one of the 'C' buttons, so c1 changed to 'memory recall 1' so it was possible to change this with one button press. The dial on the A7 cameras is great, I just wish there was a similar 'one press or click' you could use on the A6000 or Rx100 series
By now you are my hero. Big thanks sir 😘
Great video Eric, thank you. I am having a problem with setting the memory on the a7rii. When i try and set the memory (1, 2, or any of the MR1, through MR4) menu memory functions, it will not remember if i set the camera on back button focus, in which case i removed the AF from the shutter. Is this a problem, or just a limitation of the camera?
Thank you, it was very helpful.
Here in June 2021. Had to save memory settings for a converted a7R full spectrum so I can recall for different filters.
yes yes yes yes yes yes yes ,,,,,,at last , iv been going round the bend looking for this help with the setting for photo and video on rx 100 v , thank you so much , keep up the good work ,,,, just i very quick question - do you have a jpeg still shot flat camera setting recommendation ? i dont use raw but still like to do abit of colour correcting with my jpegs ,, also in pp7 slog mode why is the iso set so high 1600 ??? thank you so much
Sony sets the ISO for log at 1600 because that's the optimal setting for the most dynamic range. I shoot RAW stills with all my cameras because the benefits of editing them is so much better. Try no profile. It looks great for stills.
Thank you so I understand the 180 degree Rule so shutter speed at 1/50 for 24p so what about the F stop does it always have to be at 2.8 as well? for shooting music videos and blogs?
Pick whatever f-sotp you need to get the look you desire. wide open (f2.8) gives a shallow depth look and closed down (f16) give deep focus. You can use the ISO setting on the camera to help get the right exposure with the f-stop you want.
thank you
Excellent video!
So helpful, thank you!
LIFE SAVER.
very helpful
What is your 180 Rule??
If you shoot in 24p then double it for shutter speed.24x2=48. Since hybrid cameras don't have 1/48 you set it to 1/50. If you shoot 120 frames per second then set shutter at 240 or 1/250. Again on hybrid cams no 1/240. Thats it!
Thanks :-)
HairCut Harry Can you explain why the reason behind this rule?
I have additional memory settings (1 2 3 M1 M2 M3 M4)
What does the M part mean?
Yeah but what about your ISO?
Continue focus for video only works on movie mode -_- , not in memory 1 0r 2 ...why :(
I'm having an issue with memory recall...everytime I format my memory card the memory recall files I saved are gone. Is this supposed to happen? I'm using the a6500
Unfortunately this applies to changing and formatting cards...so if you change cards that don't have your custom settings saved to each individual card, you will have no options for memory recall and must assign them all over for the new card...which is a shame because it seems like this should be saved in camera not on the memory card...bummer
The camera will save 2 only internally. The other ones are saved to the card and can't be backed up so if you format the card the settings get erased.
Thank you...seems somewhat counter intuitive.
On the A7III I have two sd cards active, slot 1 has a 32gb for the saved M1/2/3/4 settings, slot 2 a 256gb for all my pictures and video, this way I can format slot 2 to clear my card, while keeping my saved settings on slot 1, works great
