Your fly tying VIDEOS are some of the best videos I have watched! Well...let me correct that...they are the best videos I have seen! Great JOB! Thanks for all the helpful information!
thank you Tim you are gonna make the fly tying community not bored because of all the videos you put out with the hours of binge watching should keep going for a while during this crisis.
Try using a lighter to the back part of the foam. Once you cut the corners of at an angle, just touch each side with the flame from your lighter and your body will round out 👍🤙
This fly looks like a great floating pattern for fast water, but if you were to design a fly that skitters well in slow water and floats, what would it look like? Typically, I find I can skitter a Cadis right after it hits the water but after that any attempt to twitch or skitter sends it underwater. I'm thinking this happens because once the fly breaks the water tension, any feature that would contribute to it going under on a twitch, causes it to do so. One thing that baffles me on a fly that should be skittered is why a down eye hook is used? ...it seems that all Cadis would work better with an up eye, assuming that type of dry fly hook is available.
"This high floating Stonefly was created by Don Puterbaugh on the Arkansas River in Colorado where hatches can vary. Having a pattern that is versatile and high floating is key to success day in and day out. This Foam Stone can pass a great stonefly imitation or even as a small terrestrial."
Nit sure how to direct message you but I created a bastardized holy grail and wanted your opinion.? Fishes good but I’m pretty sure they take it for mayfly.
Tied these yesterday and hit the river today! Tons of big grayling. Great pattern and holds up well!
Wow! Wonder pattern. Can also serve as an indicator! Tying some of these today!
I am glad you snipped that fiber off. ;-)

"Only then will i snip the feather from the clump". Yer jargon is the best Tim

Did you give up on the rough water caddis?
Just getting into fly tying could i use elk hair or bucktail intsead on deer hair i dont hvae any deer hair yet?
Jacob Guy Yes elk hair will work just fine, bucktail would probably be a little too thick.

Hi Tim: even with the rabbit underbody, my foam spins. What am I missing?
try using zapagap under the body and put the foam overtop.
@@derekconley4285 will do. thanks
hi, the foam is still not realistic, well it's float
