    Your videos are the most effective tool so far learning Amarinia. My wife and other family have been teaching the kids and myself for years but when combined with these videos it has accelerated. Especially my daughter who already picked up the language easily. I can now understand the priest better in Sunday which makes it lot more interesting. Keep them coming, Than You!

    I found this channel off of your post on Duolingo and my parents are both from Ethiopia but I am a first generation here in the US and have been struggling with getting my Amharic to a point where I am really confident and fluent with it. I am watching from some of your older videos up to your current ones and I am loving it so far! I subscribed right away! Can’t wait for even more videos!

      You don’t know how happy this comment makes me! So glad I can help you on your journey to learn Amharic! My main advice is just continue to expose your self to Amharic and be confident! Don’t be afraid to say a sentence or phrase that you aren’t 100% sure about. I’m really glad that you’re motivated to learn! You can do it!

    I am really struggling with this verb. I tried using it to say “I have three children” (እኔ ሶስት ልጆች አለኝ), but the person with whom I was speaking said that I can only use አለኝ when I have just one thing. And when I have more things I have to say አሉኝ . Then she gave examples of the same concept with the he for and the she form. Can you clear that up? Thanks so much - you’re the best.

    • @annavahakangas9372
      @annavahakangas9372 2 роки тому +1

      My educated guess is that for plural you just say አሉ + the personal suffix: አሉኝ፥ አሉህ፥ አሉሽ፥ አሉት፥ አሏት፥ አሉን፥ አሏችሁ፥ አሏቸው

    problem is English has to double the letter for those which are tighter. For example Alew and Allew are two different words so you have to write them in the English part correctly.

      btw is the accent pronounced as ale "ny" / ale"gn"

    • @howtospeakamharic7648
      @howtospeakamharic7648  5 років тому +1

      To add the accent on Mac you can just hold down option and type n, on Windows you can hold Alt and type 164 specifically on your number pad.

    • @howtospeakamharic7648
      @howtospeakamharic7648  5 років тому +1

      The accent is pronounced more like ale-"gn". That's definitely an easier way to type it out/write it with just English characters. I just think the ñ character matches the sound more accurately. But feel free to use alegn. That is widely understood. Hope this helps!

    No! alle is not menor! Alle means "there is", and it's the personal suffix that makes it mean "have": mekina allegn: "a car there is to me" = I have a car.

    • @howtospeakamharic7648
      @howtospeakamharic7648  5 років тому +2

      First the video says alleh, not alle. Aleh, is a dual meaning verb. Depending on the context it can either mean the you exist, or you have, The same way that Menor can either mean To Live or To Have based on the context.
