Tammy, my mom was from the UK and used to cook this back when I was a child (I’m 74 now). Even though at that age I wasn’t a big meat eater, I do remember enjoying those pork chops. I appreciate the wonderful memory and recipe! Happy New Year!🎆🎊
No, ma'am I have never even heard of this one before. Interesting concept to sear the meat after it's already cooked in the oven. Never have done that before either. But I have always liked stewed apples with pork roast or chops. 😊❤
✍Hello Tammy and Chris...So good to see you tonight. Hope you had a nice Christmas and I wish for You and Chris a Prosperous, Blessed and Happy New Year🍷🍷🎉 My mother-in-law used to make "baked pork chops and apples" not sure I remember her putting onions or not in them but they were delicious. I've never quite been able to duplicate her recipe. She lived to be in her 90s so it was probably an old recipe. Looking forward to more of your videos in 2024. God Bless LuvYa! Bye from Ohio🌹
Hi Tammy & Chris! This is a new one for me! While Mother and both my grandmothers always served cooked apples of one kind or another, I don't ever recall the apples being mixed with onions. But, this really looks good so am definitely looking forward to trying this recipe. Thanks so much for sharing this recipe! And, thanks for another video, y'all! 🌞
I've cooked Pork Chops with Apples before but seared my Pork Chops before I baked them with a little bit of Butter and a little bit of apple juice or cider n water. I didn't use much onion but used 2 apples. Cut back on spices n herbs so you can actually taste the meat n apples. Use the dripping and make a sauce. You taste the Seared Pork with the Apples more than Onions n Herbs! The sweet n savory pork n apples is the taste you're going for! I just do mine a lil different. My Grandmaw n Momma used to make this and I learned from them. I'm sure the recipes are close in being made tho. You're recipe does look good! I served mine with Rice and the Sauce over it. Delicious! Thank you Tammy! Enjoy your Pork Chops with onions n Apple! God Bless 🙏❤
My late Grandmother made her pork chops mostly this way. Except they were breaded pork chops smothered in a sliced butter fried mushroom and onion gravy. The family preferred that over Apples. Lately I've been enjoying my pork chops slightly marinated in Worchester sauce with a 450 degree high / fast sear in a air fryer. Just 15 minutes start to finish. Even better than outdoor grilling
Thanks Tammy Pork chops looked delicious and tender another recipe from you I definitely will make. I made your New Year cabbage my family loved it. Ate it all up. May 2024 be a better year for all of us. 🙏🏻✝️ God Bless in name of Jesus Christ.
Hi Miss Tammy, the Pork chops look wonderful.... My Miss Sharon has used a similar recipe for many years. I believe she learned from a Pa. Dutch cookbook which she received as a gift for our wedding many years ago. we love it with mashed potatoes and corn bread fresh Homemade. Rick in Pa.
I love pork chops with apples and onion. (I use thinner chops so I can cook them on the stove top and sauté the apples and onions in the drippings, though.) Apples and onions are also good to fancy up baby limas. Cook a 16-oz bag of frozen baby green limas as usual, then set them aside. Sauté a sliced apple and onion in butter. Add a little brown sugar, then add cooked limas.
I love baby limas, I’m putting those on my grocery list and try out your recipe. I make pork chops a lot, and I almost always make peas, mashed potatoes and gravy. I didn’t realize how often I made that meal until my daughter in law asked me what I was making for dinner and all I said was pork chops and she finished out with the sides. 😂
Hi Tammy!!! This recipe sure does look mighty tasty. I have never seen a 1/8 measuring cup.You said it was 3 Tablespoons.Anyways I would like to try this one sat. Looks super yummy... Great Video!!!...🦋
This sounds delicious but the chops definitely needed browned like you did them. I’d never heard of this recipe before. Thanks for sharing. Love y’all!❤
An interesting side note, when that cookbook was first published you couldn't buy it. You could only get a copy if you subscribed to Good Housekeeping for 2 years!
I cook boston butt covered with apple juice, one apple sliced, one med onion sliced all in slow cooker, when meat is done,i remove meat, put a small container of sour cream in it,let it get hot, place meat back in pot..You will have delicious meat and a sauce for noodles or rice
I missed you saying what spices you put in the onions and apples. Why don’t you just pour the cooked onions and apples through a sieve to get all out before making your sauce?
I love cooking recipes from really old cookbooks, you never know what you will end up with.

Actually an eighth cup is 2 tablespoons not 3.
Fresh sauerkraut added to the onions and apples is really delicious Use the sauerkraut juice with the water. It will tenderize it some as well.
my mom used to cook her chops with rasins and aples in apple sauce and a touch of cinnamon super yummmm
This sounds delicious but the chops definitely needed browned like you did them. I’d never heard of this recipe before. Thanks for sharing. Love y’all!❤
I’ve been looking for a good pork chop recipe. Thank you for sharing this, I love apples and onions with pork.
That looks great. I would have used chicken broth instead of water to bake it in. I think it would have more flavor. Just a thought ❤️
Dang. I didn't get a notification, but I checked my feed, and it popped up. Good to see you, Tammy. 😊

Thank you for the recipe. They look very yummy 😋 😊
Gooood evening from central Florida! Hope everyone has a great night!
I love the fat on pork chops! With the current regulations it has to be removed. That’s what the butcher told me. Not as good as they used to be. 🙁
Thanks you for sharing this with me and I go to make pork chop 😋 ❤❤❤😊
Good evening all! Tammy if I come to Georgia can I spend the day cooking and getting tips from you? Love your videos!

To get the apple flavour next time use green apple 🍏 they are so much better for cooking with.
It looks delicious but kinda too much trouble!

Hi tammy and family
Thank you for sharing
I missed you saying what spices you put in the onions and apples.
Why don’t you just pour the cooked onions and apples through a sieve to get all out before making your sauce?
WE used herbs de provence
I think it would be better if the apples and onions were cut in large chunks
😊
Thank you.
Love 💕 pork chops.
Did the title of this dish come from Berkshire pigs or a location named Berkshire something?
I am not sure you will have to Google that
