“Mirabel is a really funny, loving character who also deeply yearns for something more,” says Beatriz. “She’s also not afraid to stand up for what she knows is right-something I love and relate to very much.
“I’m Colombian on my father’s side, and playing this role fills me with immense pride,” continues Beatriz. “As a Disney kid, I’d burn through my VHS tapes and adored every single magical story that the world of Disney introduced me to. I learned in those that stories that anything is possible, especially if you believe in magic and the goodness rooted deep inside us all.”
In the film, the magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift from super strength to the power to heal-every child except one, Mirabel. But when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is in danger, Mirabel decides that she, the only ordinary Madrigal, might just be her exceptional family’s last hope. The voice cast also includes María Cecilia Botero, Wilmer Valderrama, Adassa, Diane Guerrero, Mauro Castillo, Angie Cepeda, Jessica Darrow, Rhenzy Feliz and Carolina Gaitan.
The new trailer includes an original song from the film, “Colombia, Mi Encanto,” performed by 17-time GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY winner, singer, songwriter and actor Carlos Vives, who’s a native of Santa Marta, Colombia. “This song is a celebration of the magical diversity of Colombia,” says Vives. “I can’t wait to see how the music will blend with the images and the characters inspired by the ‘encanto’ of Colombians.”
The film features all-new songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda (“Hamilton,” “Moana”) and is directed by Byron Howard (“Zootopia,” “Tangled”) and Jared Bush (co-director “Zootopia”), co-directed by Charise Castro Smith (writer “The Death of Eva Sofia Valdez”) and produced by Clark Spencer and Yvett Merino. Bush and Castro Smith are screenwriters on the film. The filmmakers were deeply inspired by their research trip to Colombia during early development of “Encanto,” as well as their continuous work with a group of expert consultants assembled through the course of the film’s production. Luisa has the best visuals for her song. And I love her body language during it. Like when she hip checks the bounds or does that shoulder drop and shimmy. Its dope seeing such a powerfully built character dancing like that

Y'all are missing the point here, bruno caused Pepa to stressed out because he can see the future and everyone believes whenever he says are gonna happen. So when bruno joked about it looks like rain Pepa took it as a sign and caused her to be stressed out. Of course she blamed him its her wedding day

I like how Mirabel was more worried about their home rather than her gift.
Everyone else was worried about losing their gift but Mirabel was worried about saving their home.

I think it might have to do with the fact those with gifts are put on a high pedestal in the public. Having to be perfect role models to show that you can rely on them. Since they use their gifts to actually help the community, so they are idolized. It makes sense for them to freak out over them losing the thing they value a lot. I would too tbh

But one video pointed out that in a trailer, the kid that can communicate with animals(I think his name is Tony) held a leopard plushie. So maybe their gift would be associated with their hobbies?

I feel bad for lisa, perhaps everyone in the family is hiding their true feelings deep down and are afraid to fail and let people down. It can cause a lot of pressure on people. So they try to be perfect for the people even their hiding their emotions from their own family.

traditional skirts from latin america are so fun and nice looking.
though I rarely see anyone wear them nowadays. people around here forget the nice traditional things :(
it's more of less seen as indigenous to have those types of skirts, and because much of latin america has a bias against anything indigenous, their seen as not what modern girls look like, as a modern girl should be dressing more like any modern fad from Europe or America.
