Thank you for this knot video. I am working with a slippery bamboo yarn and this silky yarn never held to "magic knot" and "weaver knot". Your knot is by far the best "invisible" knot I have found that holds with slippery silky yarn.
Yep! They will come apart if you don't pull tight enough before you clip the yarn. But if you clip the yarn and test it, then you won't have any issues.
Glad it was helpful! Just make sure to test each knot. I wish I had a video showing my husband breaking the yarn before the knot but that was a little too hard to film.
I use the magic knot and haven't had any complaints of the knot coming loose from washing the item. Now, the version you show here, I've never seen before. Im gonna have to try it!!
If you like to knot, it is a great knot, just test it after you clip the yarn. If it will come undone it will cone undone right then and there. Otherwise if it was pulled tight enough it just won't come undone.
Yes I played with the number of times. 4x does make it a little more secure but it also means you have to really tighten the knot because of the extra wraps.
So smart to do it this way, with the 4 twists… the other way with one knot on either piece of yarn always came out for me- this will surely be better! Thank you so much!!
Thank you so very much! I'm making a chunky blanket and not trusting the knots in the skeins, so I will undo them and redo using this. Since the yarn is bulky, I will just weave the ends in to hide them. (I'm a worrier - 😊) New sub!! ♥️💐♥️
This works very well. It does leave a bump but even for socks, just try not to have it be on a critical part of the foot like the ball of foot or heel.
Hmmmm. 🤔 A lot of people use the “magic knot”, then some complain that they came apart after a few washings. I, personally, haven’t used knots in my crochet, but would love to make a ball of scraps. Maybe I’ll try this one. I’m intrigued. Thank you.
I just found your video while searching for why my knots keeping coming undone. The so-called magic knot has failed me, as well as the square knot. I’m using Yarn Bee Soft Secret and am starting to wonder if it’s the yarn that’s the problem. I’m giving your knot a try and will keep my fingers crossed.
@@WindingRoadCrochet The sad thing is that the other two types of knots I tried both held when I pulled very tightly on them, yet both came apart after having done a few rows. I make premie blankets and am now worried that there may some of my blankets out there that have come undone after using the same type of yarn 😢 - Yarn Bee Soft Secret. It’s 100% acrylic but it may be too soft/slippery.
Typically it is because you did not pull the knot tight enough before clipping the ends off. It will either fail completely because the ends slip through or it holds so well that you will break the yarn before you break the knot. It is important to check each know before you continue with the project.

This is such a game changer when wanting to avoid sewing in a million ends!! Thank you!

This is the method I use and it is fantastic. They do not break that is for sure.

The easier knot I’ve ever seen! Thank you.

@@WindingRoadCrochet no problem, I can see the way your pulling that it’s strong!

Thank you! I usually wrap around twice and it holds. However, wrapping 4x is definitely better. Thanks again!

Thanks for showing us this.
You bet. I normally weave in my ends but it is a great knot for those that like to knot the yarn. Just make sure to test each knot.

That is very true. It is a knot and you would feel it if you stepped on it.

Would u use this for an Afghan?
Yes but you have to check each knot before you continue.
Is this suitable for chunky yarn?
I have never tried it with chunky yarn. It should be fine but test each knot after you tie it.
Interesting..this is the same knot used for fishing, when attaching one fish line to another.
I think it is similar. My dad and I fished but he always tied on the hook for me. I know it is called a surgeons knot.
Yep I use this when I fish and when I am knitting 🙂👍🧶🎣
this immediately broke. i dont know what i did wrong!

Don’t cut the ends less than 1/16” or it will come apart.
It is good to be careful as you cut.
