So glad you posted this version. We were at Tivoli Vredenburg this spring... the music theatre still rang with the resonance of the full choir finishing Bach's Passion of St. Matthew... audience slowly waking up to real life... everybody still quiet... and then this beautiful song with soloists in the lead came like a blessing to us all. Thanks for sharing!
I was there too! One of the most moving moments I ever had in a concert; after the rich, deep and sad finale of the Passion this moment of stillness and beauty.
Samen met mijn man.
English Behold how the righteous man dies And no one understands. Righteous men are taken away And no one considers: The righteous man has been taken away from present iniquity And his memory shall be in peace In peace is his place And in Sion is his homestead And his memory shall be in peace
Well just absolutely beautiful. Watch closely the audience and you will see the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, also a talented pianist who loves to play French Romantic pieces.
Just to be precise. Thanks to Rutte and his political cronies, the real artists like these singers have hardly been able to earn a living. In 2020 there was no Mattheus sung by de Nederlandse Bachvereniging and if the lockdown madness continues who knows what will happen next year.

Ontroerend mooi.
Semplicemente fantastici.
Mooi!
