  • When in Las Vegas, it's important to try new things! And I demo'd and reviewed the latest and greatest E-bike, the Rocky Mountain 2022 Instinct Powerplay. Thankfully, Las Vegas Cyclery and Rocky Mountain Bikes had a Demo Day and I was able to join in on the event. The S-miles Per Hour are off the chart on this super fun and frisky e-mtb. Come along with me for a thorough and crazy e-bike ride and review!

Thank you! Any particular reason you chose the altitude pp over the instinct pp? He he. I said pp.

I rented it from a dealer in turkeypoint Ontario. I wanted it 20 minutes after I rode it. I could not believe how much fun I was having. Climbing hills is so amazing. Going out for a ride this morning. My smiles per hour are through the roof!! Lol. I was one of those guys that was against it!! Like you said try it before you hate it.
They are expensive but sooo much fun!!!!

@@bobsamson7820 Thx for the explanation Bob! Yes, you gotta try before you judge it. My guess is most mtb’rs are worried they’ll like it so much that A - they’ll really want to buy it…and yes they are expensive as you said, and B - they’ll feel guilty about not having to put in maximum effort while riding. I just rode another e-bike today (Specialized Turbo Levo) and man oh man is it fun! Enjoy the new ride!

Good call on the Altitude. I find extra travel covers my biking incompetence.

UPDATE! I recently rode a 2020 Specialized Turbo Levo Expert (it's a friend's e-mtb) and I was blown away by how much better (more natural?) the RM Instinct Powerplay felt. With the Specialized Turbo Levo (which is still a great bike), it's torque or how it's motor wants to move the pedals, moves at strange times and would sometimes keep "moving" the bike even after I'd stopped pedaling. The Instinct PP, on the other hand, would only move (or engage) as you started pedaling and would stop immediately when you stopped pedaling. Basically, it just shows how much farther e-mtb's have come in the last 2-3 years alone. Now, keep in mind, the Spesh was a "used" bike too, so my buddy maybe hasn't kept it in tip top shape. But, it is worth noting anyways. What e-mtb bike do you ride? Or do you want to purchase? 🚲🤩

Really enjoyed your video. Seemed like my bike on my trails, for a reason.
I bought the Instinct C70 from Las Vegas Cyclery in November. Same color. I'm wondering if it's the very same bike you rented for the video. Need to check it for chipmunk hits. 🙂 And the video may be on some of the same trails I ride as well as the bike.
I've been riding a 3x11 Di2 Bronson for years but recently bought the C70 eBike since my foot was hurt (sliding down my house stairs). As such, I haven't ridden it much as my foot ended up having surgery. I'm healing now, hoping to start riding daily in January.
I moved from San Jose to SW Las Vegas in June for all the trails. Menny Thanks trail is near my house. What trails did you ride in your video?

Thanks for commenting Larry! Yes, constantly have to avoid those dreaded chipmunks! 😜 Hope you’re able to start riding again soon. That C70 Instinct is a blast. It certainly is in my top 3 e-bikes that I want. As for trails in this video, it’s a bunch of Bears Best trails including parts of Bears Best (the trail), Yellow, TK and a few others. Enjoy shredding Menny Thanks! Great trail. I have a couple vids of that trail. Check it out when you have time! Cheers.

@@pedalpoonces So you rode the trails just west of Las Vegas Cyclery. Makes sense as they're close to the shop and nice trails without too much climb.
I wanted the Instinct C90 for better components, but it wasn't coming available until summer 2023. So, I got the C70 and will potentially upgrade some parts as found useful after some rides. (Maybe XTR derailleur and brakes for instance.)
I didn't find any chipmunk hits so it may not be the very same bike you rented, just before LVC sold it to me.
I also bought a Class B camper van, and will be taking this C70 and my Bronson (with DI2 3x11 gearing) all over the southwest - Sedona, Moab, Fruita, SoCal,...

I am curious if you've ridden the Giant Trance e-bike and how does it compare to this one, they seem to have a similar setup and characteristics. I am 65 and enjoyed the Giant Trance and I'm shopping for my first e-bike. Great video thanks!

    • @pedalpoonces
      @pedalpoonces  Рік тому

Thanks so much RR Munoz! Unfortunately, no, I haven't tried the Trance e-bike. It does get great reviews. I, personally, would purchase the Instinct Powerplay A50 at the same price point ($7k USD) as the Trance X Advanced E+ 2 because the Instinct has a better groupset (Shimano SLX vs Deore on the Trance) AND has a bigger battery AND more power (measured in Nm's). Further, the Instinct is a little slacker head tube angle (64.2 degrees vs 65.7 on the Trance) making for a slightly better downhill experience. But, that's just me! Cheers! 😃

@@pedalpoonces I don't need 85nm of power. 50 or 60 would be enough. It weighs a metric shit ton. 40lbs is the sweet spot.

@@bobsamson7820 That’s likely the one I would buy (A50). Best value to components model imo. If I was given one (or bought used), I would choose C70 as I love the XT groupset.

Amazing and disturbing how the UA-cam algorithm puts videos that show a person, way ahead of videos that just show the bike. Hmm? I'm thinkin government profiling & profit for Google.

Likely very true Nomad! I've often found it strange when UA-cam/Google does that. Well, thanks for stopping by and commenting!
