For those of you who missed this, it was a flood of overwhelming emotion unlike anything. Everyone should get to have this experience at least once.
That's pretty cool. In the West Coast, nothing anywhere near as dramatic occurred, but I'm happy those that experienced this, did.
I'm in North Carolina. We saw a partial eclipse. We needed the special glasses to see it of course. It was weird. Barely a cloud in the sky and in the middle of the day it was like some one hit the dimmer switch for the sun. Everything got strangely darker in the middle of the day.
I saw it in Charlotte watching the crescents 🌙 through the leaves
I'm 11, and this was my first time experiencing an eclipse in-person. I live in Newton Highlands MA [A few miles east of Boston] For us it was a partial eclipse, with it starting at 2:15pm, peak at 3:29pm with 92.61% of the sun covered, and ended at 4:38pm. At school, we went on the turf to see it [I'm in 5th grade]. You would think 92.61% of the sun covered would make it pretty dark, but even with the little sliver, it looked about like mid-dawn or mid-dusk. [The moon started covering from the bottom-right of the sun, then went on to make a little sliver on the left, the had that sliver go to the bottom-left and then the bottom, then the moon went up the sun, and the sun was back.]

The next Solar Eclipse is supposed to occur in 20 years. I'm sure you'll remember this one.

So glad I got to experience totality. I'd normally be the person making fun of people getting sappy over silly things, lol. But this was something unlike anything I ever experienced. Cried like a baby!
Can you imagine enthusiastic & zealous Al Roker patiently sitting with rowdy laughing joyful children & Al Roker laughing & holler'n with the best of them. And Lester Holt giving wonderful heartfelt comfort & support to a man, he did not know? 💕 Reminded me of the moon which showed up in the solar eclipse at the right time, in just the right place that caused the magnificent beautiful effects to happen. I like how Lester & Al do their jobs - with excellence & integrity.

Saw this one in person in Texas right in the center. Unless you see this in person there are no words to describe what it is like. What I saw today was the most beautiful & incredible thing I have EVER witnessed. If you haven't seen one of these total solar eclipses, you need to do it in your lifetime. It had a profound impact on me, & I can't quite explain how.

I found it profoundly moving, but I'm so glad I wasn't in a crowd with all those screaming children. Even on my tablet it's shrill. In person it must have been ear splitting. I feel very fortunate to have seen it at home. Altogether it's a memory I'll cherish the rest of my life.
I was in a field full of people, but thankfully, no screaming meemies.
What's weird that it took an Eclipses for everyone to get along that's mine bottling.
A bunch of people looked up at the same time. No one got along any better or worse today than any other day.

The UK's last eclipse they 20, yes 20 with eye damage from their eclipse. The idea that staring at the sun can damage your eyes although true is wildly exaggerated. Otherwise millions of Americans would be blind when the sunset hit their eyes on the drives home from work

During the 2017 solar eclipse. The sky also went dark. I didn't bother looking at it though because I was told it could blind you.
So I just closed my curtain just to be safe. The curtains weren't very thick so sunlight could still shine through them.
