Fantastic work! Its constantly shocking how many people are willing to just throw their hands up and say "But what could WE do?". Removing pollutants, disease vectors, dams, stopping over fishing, re-wilding habitat, basically returning rivers to the state they were in when there were so many salmon you could just reach into the river, pick one up in each hand and make them kiss. None of it should even be this hard, I don't know anyone who would say "I LOVE it when our rivers burn, lets go back to that!" yet there seems to be so much push back against any change.
Nah, they're an important source for the restaurant industry in order to lessen dependency on wild stocks. They just need to be forced to switch to the land based fish farms with recirculating aquaculture systems. These modern facilities do not require a constant source of fresh water and do not produce a constant outflow of waste like traditional land based fish farming, and they've got the purification systems so dialled in that the companies that use this method take pride in not requiring antibiotics for their salmon.

As a fisherman I love just sitting and watching the salmon coming back, don't need to cast my rod, just sit and watch nature at it's purist!
