Well, of course he was, he was the Ace of World War I. Even though the Germans lost the war, they still had their heroes. His brother served in WWII as did the person who took over command of the flying circus, none other than Hermann Goering. You may recognize that name.
This Man's story inspired in me, a LIFETIME of enjoyment/fascination of Military Aviation and the brave Boys/Men that flew them.
What a great soldier and hero.
How sad it is to realize I was in Wiesbaden in 1973, but did not know von Richthofen was buried there.
@JZ's Best Friend Thank you for your reply. I understand the body is buried elsewhere, but if I return to Wiesbaden, I will visit the site.
Very peaceful.
I've heard that during WWII, the Baron was a folk hero to the German's in power at that time.

He still is. There's a Military Ceremony in Honour to him every year at his grave
He is world war 1 hero
Check wikipedia or google for more information. There is a lot available. The Red Baron also wrote a book that is available.
True, this is his final resting place amongst his family.
Твоя слава это история в веках🙏🏼😢🌹🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Великий лётчик. Преклоняюсь. Память о нем навсегда, как о первом асе..

"Great pilot. I bow down. The memory of him will forever be as the first ace..."
He has earned our respect. Shame to see him shot down.
A hero of the skies..
Come disse un generale romano ai suoi soldati: quello che facciamo in vita verrà ricordato nell' eternità
So true, thanks

Very surreal.
Canadian ace Roy Brown shot the Baron down.
It was ground fire that got him.
@@darklordojeda They did not teach us that in history class in The Great White North
@@darklordojeda That's the truth of it.
@@mckessa17 it wasn’t taught to us either in the States, it was only theorized fairly recently.
Nope, Aussies did.
